A robotic system for treating a patient includes a robotic arm with an end effector for treating the patient, wherein the robotic arm is configured to be movable in a space surrounding the patient, and the end effector is configured to be movable individually and co-movable with the robotic arm in said space; a sensing device for acquiring data associating with coordinates and images of the end effector and the patient; and a controller in communications with the robotic arm and the sensing device for controlling movements of the robotic arm with the end effector and treatments of the patient with the end effector based on the acquired data and a treatment plan.
NASAL NERVE DENERVATION INSTRUMENT WITH DENERVATION CONFIRMATION
An apparatus includes a shaft assembly, first and second electrode assemblies, and a controller. The shaft assembly is configured to fit in a nasal cavity of a patient. The first and second electrode assemblies are at the distal end of the shaft assembly. The second electrode assembly includes a stimulus electrode and a sensing electrode. The stimulus and sensing electrodes are positioned on opposing lateral sides in relation to the longitudinal axis of the shaft assembly. The controller is operable to generate an electrical signal to perform one or both of tissue ablation or denervation of a targeted nerve via the first electrode assembly, generate an electrical stimulus signal to stimulate the targeted nerve via the stimulus electrode of the second electrode assembly, and process a response signal received from the targeted nerve via the sensing electrode of the second electrode assembly.
Software center and highly configurable robotic systems for surgery and other uses
Telerobotic, telesurgical, and/or surgical robotic devices, systems, and methods employ surgical robotic linkages that may have more degrees of freedom than an associated surgical end effector in space. A processor can calculate a tool motion that includes pivoting of the tool about an aperture site. Linkages movable along a range of configurations for a given end effector position may be driven toward configurations which inhibit collisions. Refined robotic linkages and methods for their use are also provided.
Illuminated electrosurgical system and method of use
A surgical system that illuminates a surgical site using one or more illumination means is powered by radiofrequency energy produced by an electrosurgical generator. Illumination may occur whether or not current is being delivered from an active electrode to target tissue.
Medical manipulator system and image display method therefor
A medical manipulator system includes: an endoscope; a first manipulator equipped with a first treatment tool at a distal end thereof; a second manipulator equipped with a second treatment tool at a distal end thereof; a display for a user to view; and a controller configured to generate an image to be displayed on the display. The controller is configured to: acquire a first image taken by the endoscope, the first image contains the first treatment tool; and in response to determining that the second treatment tool does not exist in the first image: calculate a relative distance and a relative direction between the first treatment tool and the second treatment tool; generate a second image showing the relative distance and the relative direction between the first treatment tool and the second treatment tool; and send the first image and the second image to the display.
Instrument insertion compensation
Disclosed herein are systems and techniques for compensating for insertion of an instrument into a working channel of another instrument in a surgical system. According to one embodiment, a method of compensation includes: detecting insertion of an insertable instrument into a working channel of a flexible instrument; detecting, based on a data signal from at least one sensor, a position change of a distal portion of the flexible instrument from an initial position: generating a control signal based on the detected position change; and adjusting a tensioning of a pull wire based on the control signal to return the distal portion to the initial position.
Photoelectric conversion device and imaging apparatus
[Problem] Provided are a photoelectric conversion device and an imaging apparatus capable of improving quantum efficiency and a response speed. [Solving means] A first photoelectric conversion device according to one embodiment of the present disclosure includes a first electrode, a second electrode opposed to the first electrode, and a photoelectric conversion layer. The photoelectric conversion layer is provided between the first electrode and the second electrode and includes at least one type of one organic semiconductor material having crystallinity. Variation in a ratio between horizontally-oriented crystal and vertically-oriented crystal in the photoelectric conversion layer is three times or less between a case where film formation of the one organic semiconductor material is performed at a first temperature and a case where the film formation of the one organic semiconductor material is performed at a second temperature. The second temperature is higher than the first temperature.
Surgical systems and methods for identifying tools guided by surgical robots
A surgical system for assisting a user in performing a surgical procedure at a surgical site, comprising a tool having a checkpoint, a pointer having a tip, and a localizer to determine a position of the pointer within a field of view. A memory comprises identification data associated with a plurality of tools. A controller is configured to prompt the user to position the tip of at the checkpoint, to receive position data from the localizer associated with the pointer within the field of view, to compare position data associated with the pointer against the identification data of the memory to determine an identity of the tool, and to present the user with the identity of the tool.
Tools and methods for placing a medical appliance on a user
A method for operating an accessory device to guide the placement of an ostomy appliance on a user having a stoma. The method can include capturing an image or a sequence of images of the user applying the ostomy appliance to the user's body, processing the captured image or sequence of images, including: identifying a location of the stoma in one or more of the captured image or sequence of images, identifying a location of the ostomy appliance in one or more of the captured image or sequence of images, and generating location indicia representative of the location of the ostomy appliance with respect to the stoma in one or more of the captured image or sequence of images. A visual display including the location indicia associated with one or more of the captured image or sequence of images can be provided.
Near infrared illumination for surgical procedure
