METHOD OF HYDRAULIC FRACTURING UTILIZING A HYDRAULIC FRACTURING FLUID WITH A SINGLE PHASE LIQUID PROPPANT
A hydraulic fracture fluid is provided. The fluid can include a liquid solvent, one or more surfactants, a proppant-forming compound, and one or more curing agents. The liquid reacts to form proppant in-situ under downhole conditions.
Ground supporting energy recovery medium with carbohydrate-based thickener, salt and proppant in base liquid
Energy recovery medium for insertion into a ground hole in a ground comprising a recoverable energy carrying medium, wherein the energy recovery medium comprises a base liquid, a carbohydrate-based thickener mixed in the base liquid, a salt dissolved in the base liquid and configured for increasing a density of the base liquid, and proppant particles dispersed within the mixture of the base liquid, the thickener and the salt.
High-salt gelling compositions and methods for well treatment
A fluid including: (i) a continuous aqueous phase, wherein the continuous aqueous phase has total dissolved solids in a concentration of at least 30,000 mg/l; (ii) an alkyl amido quaternary amine; (iii) a polymer, wherein the polymer is water-soluble or water-hydratable; and (iv) a crosslinker for the polymer. The continuous aqueous phase of the fluid can include a water source selected from the group consisting of flowback water, produced water, and any combination thereof. Methods include: (A) forming a fluid according to any of the various embodiments of the disclosure, and (B) introducing the fluid into a well. For example, the fluid can be used as a fracturing fluid for fracturing a treatment zone of a well.
Immiscible fluid systems and methods of use for placing proppant in subterranean formations
Systems and methods for placing proppant in a portion of a subterranean formation (e.g., in a fracturing operation) using two or more immiscible fluids are provided. In certain embodiments, the methods comprise: introducing into a well bore penetrating a portion of a subterranean formation alternating stages of a first treatment fluid comprising one or more proppants, and a second treatment fluid comprising a lesser concentration of proppants than the first fluid, wherein the first fluid and the second fluid are substantially immiscible in one another, and wherein the alternating stages of the first and second treatment fluids are introduced into the well bore at or above a pressure sufficient to create or enhance one or more fractures in the subterranean formation.
EFFICIENT STIMULATION FROM CARBONATE RESERVOIRS USING MICRO-PROPPANTS
A method of stimulating petroleum production includes introducing a fracturing fluid into a petroleum bearing carbonate formation, thereby creating at least one fracture to stimulate the petroleum production. The fracturing fluid is introduced into the petroleum bearing carbonate formation at a pressure above the breakdown pressure of the formation. The fracturing fluid includes a plurality of proppants where from 1 to 50 wt.% of the plurality of proppants includes micro proppants having a particle size ranging from 0.5 to 150 .Math.m, and from 50 to 99 wt.% of the plurality of proppants includes macro proppants having a particle size greater than 100 mesh.
Using synthetic acid compositions as alternatives to conventional acids in the oil and gas industry
An aqueous synthetic acid composition for use in oil industry activities comprises lysine and hydrogen chloride in a molar ratio ranging from 1:3 to 1:12.5, preferably from more than 1:5 to 1:8.5. The composition can also further comprise a metal iodide or iodate; an alcohol or derivative thereof. The composition demonstrates advantageous properties over known synthetic acids at temperatures above 90° C. The composition is useful in various oil and gas industry operations. Preferred embodiments of the composition provide substantial advantages in matrix acidizing by increasing the effectiveness of wormholing as compared to conventional mineral acids such as HC1.
SMART FRACTURING FLUID
Among the methods provided is a method comprising: providing a fracturing fluid that comprises a base fluid and an additive having a high dielectric constant; and introducing the fracturing fluid into least a portion of a subterranean formation.
Systems and Methods for Fracturing a Subterranean Formation
Systems and methods for fracturing an interval of a subterranean formation to produce fluid from a reservoir through a wellbore. A treating fluid flows into the wellbore to create fractures in the formation. A flow constraint material is selectively flowed into the wellbore simultaneously with the treating fluid. A parameter of the formation is monitored to determine whether a formation system strain is within a range. When the formation system strain is out of the range, the flow of the flow constraint material is adjusted. The flow constraint material partially constrains the treating fluid from entering a fracture so as to at least partially redistribute the treating fluid to an another fracture or fractures.
