Locally positioned EM tracker
A user console for a surgical robotic system has a seat having an armrest and an electromagnetic (EM) transmitter coupled to the armrest to generate an EM field in an EM tracking space around the armrest. A user input device having a handheld housing is to be positioned within the EM tracking by an operator who is seated in the seat, during a surgical procedure. Other aspects are also described and claimed.
Systems and methods for retrograde perfusion and clearance of emboli
A method of providing retrograde perfusion of a patient's brain includes occluding a jugular vein of a subject at a jugular occlusion location, and passively shunting arterial blood from an artery of the subject to a location in the jugular vein distal to the jugular occlusion location.
DEVICES FOR USE IN INTERVENTIONAL AND SURGICAL PROCEDURES AND METHODS OF USE THEREOF
A device including a sheath having a proximal end, a distal end, and a lumen extending through the sheath from the proximal end to the distal end, wherein the sheath is biased to a released position; a pull wire extending along the sheath and being coupled to the sheath at the distal end, wherein the pull wire and the sheath are configured to cooperate such that pulling the pull wire toward the proximal end causes the distal end to assume an active position, and such that release of the pull wire causes the distal end to return to the released position; and a control portion coupled to the proximal end of the sheath and to the pull wire, wherein the control portion includes a control element operable to selectively pull the pull wire toward the proximal end of the sheath or to release the pull wire.
Ablation monitoring system and method
A system and method are presented for treating targeted tissue using cryoablation. An introducer canula and a cryoprobe are inserted the targeted tissue. The cryoprobe is cooled and an ice ball is formed. The cryoprobe is removed while the ice ball is still frozen, and an ultrasound catheter is inserted. Ultrasound generated within the ice ball is used to determine the distance from the ultrasound catheter to a perimeter of the ice ball. This is repeated at different angles to model a slice of the ice ball. The ultrasound catheter is moved radially, and the process is repeated to create a model of at least a portion of the ice ball. The ice ball model can be displayed on a registered set of images representing the targeted tissue to ensure that the tissue lies within the treatment zone of the ice ball.
Alignment interfaces for percutaneous access
Techniques for aligning a medical instrument for percutaneous access to a location within the human anatomy can include determining an orientation of the medical instrument, determining a target location within the human anatomy, and determining a target trajectory for percutaneous access of the target location. Further, the techniques can include causing display of an interface that includes an instrument-alignment element indicative of an alignment of the orientation of the medical instrument to the target trajectory.
Method for improved spinal correction surgery implementing non-fusion anterior scoliosis correction techniques with double screws and cords
Spinal correction surgical techniques and methodologies for correction of scoliosis using non fusion anterior scoliosis correction, including soft tissue releases, unique correction techniques such as de-rotation, and unique single and dual anchor screw/cord applications.
MEDICAL SYSTEM
A medical system according to the present invention comprises: a medical device comprising an insertion part comprising an angulating part, and angulation wires attached to the angulating part; and an actuator, detachably connected to the medical device, that electrically actuates the angulation wires to angulate the angulating part. The angulation wires comprise a first angulation wire and a second angulation wire. When the medical device is not attached to the actuator, the first angulation wire and the second angulation wire are in a mechanically connected looped state. When the medical device is connected to the actuator, the first angulation wire and the second angulation wire are in a second state in which the two are independently electrically actuated.
HYDRAULIC SYSTEM FOR SURGICAL APPLICATIONS
A surgical device includes a plurality of cameras integrated therein. The view of each of the plurality of cameras can be integrated together to provide a composite image. A surgical tool that includes an integrated camera may be used in conjunction with the surgical device. The image produced by the camera integrated with the surgical tool may be associated with the composite image generated by the plurality of cameras integrated in the surgical device. The position and orientation of the cameras and/or the surgical tool can be tracked, and the surgical tool can be rendered as transparent on the composite image. A surgical device may be powered by a hydraulic system, thereby reducing electromagnetic interference with tracking devices.
SURGICAL DRAPE INSTALLATION AID
A sterile adapter retaining device for mounting a surgical drape to a surgical drape installation aid comprises a body having a central portion and plurality of legs extending radially from the central portion. Each leg of the plurality of legs is configured to receive mounted thereon a respective instrument sterile adapter of a plurality of instrument sterile adapters attached to a surgical drape. The body is configured to fit within an interior volume of a surgical drape installation aid in a state of the plurality of instrument sterile adapters mounted on the plurality of legs.
MEDICAL INSTRUMENT DISPLAYS AND MEDICAL INSTRUMENT DISPLAY PROGRAMS
A medical instrument display includes an image storage that stores a plurality of image data of a medical instrument, a data analyzer that searches a plurality of image data stored in the image storage on a certain condition, and a display controller that causes a display to display a first medical instrument image that has been selected from thumbnail images, the thumbnail images being based on a plurality of the image data obtained by the search, and a second medical instrument image in good order, the second medical instrument image being different from the first medical instrument image.
