Method and apparatus for performing 3D imaging examinations of a structure under differing configurations and analyzing morphologic changes

Digital breast tomosynthesis represents an enhanced type of mammogram for detecting breast cancer. In this disclosure, data from digital breast tomosynthesis is reconstructed into a volumetric database with each voxel having a (x, y, z) coordinate and viewed in true 3D using geo-registered head display unit and geo-registered tools for overall enhanced diagnosis. The breast is imaged under various configurations and the internal architecture of an anatomic feature three-dimensionally analyzed.

VASCULAR LOCATING SYSTEMS AND METHODS OF USE

Disclosed are puncture sealing systems and methods of locating a puncture site within a vessel. The systems can include puncture locating dilators and access sheaths that are configured to locate the puncture site within a vessel so that the position of the puncture site relative to a distal end of the access sheath is known during a puncture sealing procedure.

Intervertebral Disc And Insertion Methods Therefor

A method of inserting an intervertebral disc implant into a disc space includes accessing a spinal segment having a first vertebral body, a second vertebral body and a disc space between the first and second vertebral bodies. The method includes securing a first pin to the first vertebral body and a second pin to the second vertebral body, using the first and second pins for distracting the disc space, and providing an inserter holding the intervertebral disc implant. The method also desirably includes engaging the inserter with the first and second pins, and advancing the inserter toward the disc space for inserting the intervertebral disc implant into the disc space, whereby the first and second pins align and guide the inserter toward the disc space.

Dynamic patient positioning system

A system includes a first radiation source configured to provide therapeutic radiation in a treatment area and an automated patient transport configured to transport a patient from a preparation area to the treatment area, to position a treatment volume in the patient relative to the therapeutic radiation from the first radiation source, and to support the patient in receiving the therapeutic radiation. The automated patient transport comprises a first detector configured to detect a first patient positioning indicator located in and/or on the patient indicative of a position of the treatment volume.

Markers, microwave probes, and related systems and methods are provided for localizing lesions within a patient's body, e.g., within a breast. The marker includes an energy converter e.g., one or more photodiodes, for transforming energy pulses striking the marker into electrical energy, a switch, e.g., FET, coupled to the photodiodes such that light from a probe cause the switch to open and close. A pair of antenna wires are coupled to the switch to provide an antenna, the switch configured to open and close when light strikes the photodiodes to modulate signals from the probe reflected by the antenna back to the probe to identify the location of the marker. The marker also includes an electro static discharge (ESD) protection device coupled to the switch to provide protection against an electrostatic discharge event.

A radiotherapy system according to an embodiment includes processing circuitry. The processing circuitry specifies at least one tumor area in a medical image of a patient, and outputs classification result information including a result of classification this/these tumor area(s) as either a primary lesion or a metastatic lesion based on an image feature amount of this/these tumor area(s).

A more accurate radiotherapy is implemented by using a vessel marker for radiotherapy having a deformation fixed shape for engaging with the inner wall of a vessel by deformation after being inserted into the vessel, and a position notification shape for notifying an outside of a radiation irradiation position. Also provided are a radiotherapy support method for supporting radiotherapy to be performed by using the vessel marker, a radiation irradiation control apparatus that irradiates, with radiation, a patient in which the vessel marker is indwelled, and a vessel marker indwelling support apparatus to be used when indwelling the vessel marker.
