An example medical apparatus includes a tubular structure. The tubular structure includes an echogenic layer that is a multiphase polymer composite. The multiphase polymer composite includes a polymer matrix phase, a first non-polymeric phase including gas voids entrapped within the polymer matrix phase, and a second non-polymeric phase including particles embedded within the polymer matrix phase. Catheters having respective echogenic layers are also described.

Methods and Devices for Puncturing Tissue

Methods and devices are disclosed for puncturing tissue, comprising an assembly for puncturing a target tissue. The puncture device of the assembly has a distal tip configured to puncture the target tissue and at least one proximal marker, formed on the proximal portion of the puncture device. The supporting member of the assembly includes a proximal end, a distal end, and a lumen for receiving the puncture device. The puncture device is configured to enable advancement and withdrawal of the supporting member overtop of the puncture device. Alignment of the proximal end of the supporting member and the at least one proximal marker of the puncture device occurs when the distal tip of the puncture device protrudes from the distal end of the supporting member.

REAL-TIME AI FOR PHYSICAL BIOPSY MARKER DETECTION

Examples of the present disclosure describe systems and methods for implementing real-time artificial intelligence (AI) for physical biopsy marker detection. In aspects, the physical characteristics for one or more biopsy site markers may be used to train an AI component of an ultrasound system. The trained AI may be configured to identify deployed markers. When information relating to the characteristics of a deployed marker is input into the ultrasound system, the trained AI may process the received information to create one or more estimated images of the marker, or identify echogenic properties of the marker. During an ultrasound of the site comprising the deployed marker, the AI may use the estimated images and/or identified properties to detect the shape and location of the deployed marker.

Systems, methods, and devices are provided for assisting or performing guided interventional procedures using custom templates. The system uses pre-procedure scans of a patient's anatomy to identify targets and critical structures. A template is then manufactured containing guide elements. During a procedure, the template may be aligned to the patient and instruments passed though the guide elements and into various targets. The template may be aligned using one or more of, for example, a position sensing system or a live imaging modality to register the patient to the template. The system makes optional use of devices designed to immobilize or track an organ during therapy.
