METHODS OF APPLYING PREPARATIONS OF DYES AND HYDROGELS TO A TISSUE
Disclosed is a marking composition comprising a marker and a hydrogel. Disclosed is a process of forming a marking composition comprising mixing a marker and a hydrogel. Disclosed is an article comprising a marker, a hydrogel, and an implement. Disclosed is a kit comprising a marker, a hydrogel, and an implement, wherein the marker and hydrogel are combined. Disclosed is a method for marking a portion of the brain in a mammal comprising: (a) removing a portion of a mammal's skull to expose a portion of the brain matter; and (b) contacting the exposed portion of the brain with a marking composition. Disclosed is a method for recording electrical activity in a brain, comprising: (a) removing a portion of the skull, thereby exposing a portion of a brain; (b) inserting an electrode into the brain; and (c) recording electrical activity via the electrode, wherein the electrode is at least partially coated with a marking composition.
TRAJECTORY ARRAY GUIDE SYSTEM
The present disclosure presents a trajectory array guide system for defining a trajectory to a target location in the brain of a subject and for guiding an elongated tool along the trajectory. The trajectory array guide system can comprise: a base, an array guide, an imaging unit, and an elongated handle configured for connection with a stereotaxic navigation system. The present disclosure presents a method of using a trajectory array guide system for defining a trajectory to a target location in the brain of a subject and for guiding an elongated tool along the trajectory.
Radio-opaque writing instruments and methods of use
A radio-opaque composition is formulated to enable a clinician to apply custom markings to a surface, such as a patient's skin or a surgical drape on the patient. More specifically, the radio-opaque composition may be used to write on the surface. The markings may be well-defined and contrast with the surface to which they are applied. Such a composition may include a liquid radio-opaque component that includes one or more radio-opaque materials that have been dissolved in a solvent, as well as a solid radio-opaque component with particles of one or more radio-opaque materials dispersed throughout a carrier, such as the solvent of the liquid radio-opaque component. Marking apparatuses that may be used to write with the radio-opaque composition are also disclosed, as are methods for using the radio-opaque composition.
MARKER HAVING ENHANCED ULTRASOUND VISIBILITY AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING THE SAME
A method and system are used to enhance a marker material to include a plurality of air bubbles. The method of manufacturing a marker includes enhancing a marker material to include a plurality of air bubbles using at least a first EFD and a second EFD. The method may include cycling repeatedly through a transfer process between a first container and a second container. A system for enhancing a marker material includes a transfer apparatus configured to receive a marker material and a selected amount of air. The system comprises a first EFD coupled to a first end of the transfer apparatus and a second EFD coupled to a second end of the transfer apparatus.
Surgical visualizations systems and displays
A medical apparatus is configured to provide visualization of a surgical site. The medical apparatus includes an electronic display disposed within a display housing. The medical apparatus includes a display optical system disposed within the display housing, the display optical system comprising a plurality of lens elements disposed along an optical path. The display optical system is configured to receive images from the electronic display. The medical apparatus can include proximal cameras mounted on a frame, the cameras configured to provide a view of a surgical site from outside the surgical site. The display housing can have a height that is larger than its depth.
VEHICLE SUSPENSION WITH COMMON HUB AND/OR KNUCKLE ASSEMBLY
A vehicle suspension can include an adapter mounting face, a spindle rigidly mounted relative to the adapter mounting face, a wheel mounting hub including a hub body rotatably mounted on the spindle by bearings, and an adapter that spaces a brake component away from the adapter mounting face. Another vehicle suspension can include a spindle, bearings, and a wheel mounting hub rotatably mounted on the spindle by the bearings, the wheel mounting hub can include a hub body and a wheel mounting flange, the hub body and the wheel mounting flange being separate components of the wheel mounting hub. A system for adapting a vehicle suspension to different suspension capacities can include multiple wheel mounting hubs including a same hub body internal configuration configured to be rotatably mounted on the spindle by the bearings, but the wheel mounting hubs including respective different wheel mounting flanges.
Bone graft delivery system and method for using same
A bone graft delivery system includes an elongate tube configured to couple to the handle and receive a bone graft material and a rasp. The rasp includes a lumen configured to receive at least a portion of the elongate tube, a rasping surface configured to decorticate bone, one or more openings configured to deliver bone graft material from the elongate tube when the lumen receives at least a portion of the elongate tube, and a handle portion configured to be gripped in use to facilitate movement of the rasping surface to decorticate bone.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR REDUCING CONTAMINANTS IN A PORTION OF A PATIENT
Systems and methods for reducing pathogens near an implant are discussed. In some cases, the methods include reducing contaminants in a portion of a patient that has an implant and that is disposed interior to a closed surface of skin of the patient. The method can further include placing a conduit in the closed surface of skin and flowing an antimicrobial fluid into that portion of the patient to contact the antimicrobial fluid with a surface of the implant and tissue adjacent to the implant. In some cases, the antimicrobial fluid is then removed from the portion of the patient having the implant. As part of this method, biofilm near the implant can be mechanically, ultrasonically, electrically, chemically, enzymatically, or otherwise disrupted. Other implementations are described.
Method of using an intradermal applicator for delivering a sensor within the skin
The present invention provides for a method and apparatus for inserting and using, dermal interstitial sensors in, for example, an analyte monitoring system. The present invention permits the proper positioning of a cannula tip and/or sensor(s) within the reticular dermis.
Mapping and endoscopic excision of a tumor using intracavity laser quenching and emission spectroscopy
A device is provided for accurately mapping a tumor embedded in healthy tissue by using a probe ion that emits detectable light in response to the probe ion being bound to the tumor. An exciting laser beam is cleansed of light frequencies that excite the probe ion bound to the healthy tissue by using intracavity quenching that eliminates the wavelengths that excite the probe ion bound to the healthy tissue. A resulting emission from the probe ions bound to the tumor is photo-detected to illuminate the tumor and the periphery of the tumor. In one embodiment, the illumination of the tumor and its periphery is used to guide a surgical laser to accurately excise the tumor with a minimal loss of healthy tissue.
