PERFUSION DEVICE FOR A BLOOD VESSEL

A medical assembly includes a perfusion device that has a self-expandable stent. The stent has a proximal end portion and a distal end portion. The proximal end portion tapers from the distal end to a proximal end thereof. A blood-impermeable cover extends at least partially over the distal end portion and the proximal end portion of the stent. The perfusion device further includes an elongated shaft having a proximal end a distal end, wherein the distal end is fixedly secured to the proximal end of the proximal end portion of the stent. The assembly further includes a sheath configured to retain the stent and the cover is a radially collapsed state for insertion into a vessel of a patient, wherein the stent and the cover are expandable from the radially collapsed state to a radially expanded, deployed state within the vessel when deployed from the sheath.

A method for performing a surgical procedure includes planning a resection of a bone of a patient. A volume of the bone is removed according to the planned resection using a surgical tool. As the bone is removed, data corresponding to a shape and volume of the removed bone is tracked with a computer system operatively coupled to the surgical tool. A prosthesis is implanted onto the bone of the patient based on the tracked data corresponding to the shape of the removed bone.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR A TISSUE RESECTION MARGIN MEASUREMENT DEVICE

Embodiments of the invention provide a system and method for resecting a tissue mass. The system for resecting a tissue mass includes a first sensor for measuring a signal corresponding to the position and orientation of the tissue mass. The first sensor is dimensioned to fit inside of or next to the tissue mass. The system also includes a second sensor attached to a surgical instrument configured to measure the position and orientation of the surgical instrument. A controller is in communication with the first sensor and the second sensor, and the controller executes a stored program to calculate a distance between the first sensor and the second sensor. Accordingly, visual, auditory, haptic or other feedback is provided to the clinician to guide the surgical instrument to the surgical margin.

Aspects of the present disclosure relate to systems for performing a surgical procedure using a power tool or power instrument with systems, devices and/or control units for adjusting, regulating, interrupting, and/or restoring electric current to the power tool or instrument during operation, for example, when the power tool or instrument is at a predetermined distance to a boundary of a safe zone or a target volume of operation.

Determining a range of motion of an artificial knee joint

A data processing method for determining a range of motion of an artificial knee joint which connects a femur and a tibia via a medial ligament and a lateral ligament, wherein at least the femur comprises an implant which forms a medial condyle and a lateral condyle, the method comprising the steps of: acquiring the maximum lengths of the lateral ligament and the medial ligament for a particular flexion angle of the knee joint; calculating a first virtual position between the femur and the tibia in which the lateral condyle of the femoral implant touches the tibia and the medial ligament is stretched to its maximum length; calculating a maximum valgus angle of the range of motion from the first virtual position; calculating a second virtual position between the femur and the tibia in which the medial condyle of the femoral implant touches the tibia and the lateral ligament is stretched to its maximum length; and calculating a maximum yarns angle of the range of motion from the second virtual position.

Aspects of the present disclosure relate to systems, devices and methods for performing a surgical step or surgical procedure with visual guidance using an optical head mounted display. Aspects of the present disclosure relate to systems, devices and methods for displaying, placing, fitting, sizing, selecting, aligning, moving a virtual implant on a physical anatomic structure of a patient and, optionally, modifying or changing the displaying, placing, fitting, sizing, selecting, aligning, moving, for example based on kinematic information.

Virtual guidance for ankle surgery procedures

An example method includes registering, via a visualization device, a virtual model of a portion of an anatomy of an ankle of a patient to a corresponding portion of the anatomy of the ankle viewable via the visualization device, the virtual model obtained from a virtual surgical plan for an ankle arthroplasty procedure to attach a prosthetic to the anatomy. The example method also comprises displaying, via the visualization device and overlaid on the portion of the anatomy, a virtual guide that guides at least one of preparation of the anatomy for attachment of the prosthetic or attachment of the prosthetic to the anatomy.

Medical imaging system and method

A medical imaging system including a microwave antenna array having a transmitting antenna and a plurality of receiving antennae, wherein the transmitting antenna is configured to transmit microwave signals so as to illuminate a body part of a patient and the receiving antennae are configured to receive the microwave signals following scattering within the body part; a processor configured to process the scattered microwave signals and generate an output indicative of the internal structure of the body part to identify a region of interest within the body part; and a biopsy device comprising a biopsy needle movable relative to the microwave antenna array; wherein the receiving antennae are further configured to receive microwave signals scattered or emitted by the biopsy needle and the processor is further configured to monitor a position of the biopsy needle and to guide the biopsy needle to the identified region of interest within the body part.
