SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR LOCATION DETERMINATION USING A MIXED REALITY DEVICE AND MULTIPLE IMAGING CAMERAS
A system and method for determining a location for a surgical jig in a surgical procedure includes providing a mixed reality headset, a 3D spatial mapping camera, an infrared or stereotactic camera, and a computer system configured to transfer data to and from the mixed reality headset and the 3D spatial mapping camera. The system and method also include attaching a jig to a bone, mapping the bone and jig using the 3D spatial mapping camera, and then identifying a location for the surgical procedure using the computer system. Then the system and method use the mixed reality headset to provide a visualization of the location for the surgical procedure.
System for navigated punction, biopsy or ablation comprising a needle-like instrument and a removable sensor carrier
Disclosed herein is a system for navigated punction, biopsy or ablation comprising a mobile electromagnetic field generator for generating an electromagnetic navigation field which is connected to an apparatus for medical imaging, a needle-like instrument (16), comprising a sterile distal portion (22) and an optionally non-sterile proximal portion (20), a removable protection device (30) for encapsulating the sterile distal portion (22), a sensor (38) suitable for carrying out measurements allowing for determining the position of the sensor (38) within the navigation field, and a sensor carrier (26). The sensor carrier (26) comprises an elongate carrier body (36) having proximal and distal ends. The sensor (38) is attached to or enclosed by said carrier body (36) close to its distal end. A connection mechanism (32) is provided allowing to releasably connect said sensor carrier (36) with the non-sterile proximal portion (22) such that said elongate carrier body (36) extends from said connection position in distal direction.
Fluorolucent magnetic field generator
A transmitting element for generating a magnetic field for tracking of an object includes a first spiral trace that extends from a first outer origin inward to a central origin in a first direction. A second spiral trace can extend from the central origin outward to a second outer origin in the first direction. The second spiral trace can extend from the central origin to the second outer origin in the first direction. The first spiral trace and the second spiral trace can be physically connected at the central origin to form the fluorolucent magnetic transmitting element and at least a portion of the first spiral trace overlaps at least a portion of the second spiral trace.

An example method includes obtaining, a virtual model of a portion of an anatomy of a patient obtained from a virtual surgical plan for an orthopedic joint repair surgical procedure to attach a prosthetic to the anatomy; identifying, based on data obtained by one or more sensors, positions of one or more physical markers positioned relative to the anatomy of the patient; and registering, based on the identified positions, the virtual model of the portion of the anatomy with a corresponding observed portion of the anatomy.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR DELINEATING AND LINKING/CORRELATING OPPOSING MARGINS OF A PATHOLOGY SPECIMEN AND IMMEDIATELY ADJACENT REMAINING IN VIVO MARGINS
The disclosure is directed to a novel technique for anatomically orientating a removed tissue specimen with the margins of the tissue from which it has been removed. An example process of marking the margins of the excised surgical specimen and the anatomically adjacent in vivo margins can be implemented by a surgeon at the time of removal of the surgical specimen. After removing the surgical specimen from its adjacent tissue, a surgical cavity is generated. Thereafter, locations around the surface margins of the specimen and appropriate locations on the margins of the surgical cavity are marked with one or more pairs of markers (SpM and IVM respectively) with matching identities.
Systems and methods for automatically changing an end-effector on a surgical robot
Devices, systems, and methods for automatically exchanging a first end-effector on a robot arm with a second end-effector housed in a docking station. The first end-effector has a clamp that either engages or disengages the robot arm based upon an application of force of the robot arm onto the end-effector. The clamp has a spring loaded clip that disengages the first end-effector to allow the robot arm to move away from the released first end-effector. The robot arm is configured to automatically move to a port of a docking station housing the desired second end-effector using magnetic coils on the robot arm and the docking station to guide the robot arm.
FLUOROLUCENT MAGNETIC FIELD GENERATOR
A transmitting element for generating a magnetic field for tracking of an object includes a first spiral trace that extends from a first outer origin inward to a central origin in a first direction. A second spiral trace can extend from the central origin outward to a second outer origin in the first direction. The second spiral trace can extend from the central origin to the second outer origin in the first direction. The first spiral trace and the second spiral trace can be physically connected at the central origin to form the fluorolucent magnetic transmitting element and at least a portion of the first spiral trace overlaps at least a portion of the second spiral trace.
LOCALIZATION NEEDLE
A medical tracking system includes a percutaneous needle, a localization element and a navigation system is disclosed. The percutaneous needle has an elongate shaft extending between a proximal end portion, which is attached to a handle, and distal end portion that terminates at a distal tip. An inner surface of the elongate shaft defines a working channel that extends from a port at the proximal end portion to the distal tip. The localization element is incorporated into the elongate shaft distal from the handle and proximate the distal end portion. The navigation system is configured for tracking the localization element and to provide a real-time display of a position and orientation of the distal tip relative to an anatomy of a patient.
