Some medical procedures may be assisted by an electromagnetic fiducial element assembly that is affixed to the body of a patient. The electromagnetic fiducial element assembly has a flexible substrate and an affixation mechanism such as an adhesive arranged to removably affix the electromagnetic fiducial element assembly to the body of a patient. The assembly also includes a housing coupled to the flexible substrate that partially or fully contains a first trackable electromagnetic element. A medically imagable structure is integrated with the electromagnetic fiducial element assembly. In the medical procedures, a medical image of a portion of the patient's body is captured, and a representation of the medically imagable structure is visually apparent in the medical image. When a medical device having a second trackable electromagnetic element is advanced into the body of the patient, the medical device, the first and second trackable electromagnetic elements are tracked with a sensor device and an image representing the medical device is formed in the captured medical image.

A stapling end effector includes an anvil assembly having a distal end and defining a plurality of staple forming pockets, and a cartridge assembly pivotal relative to the anvil assembly such that the end effector is movable between open and clamped positions. The anvil assembly supports a plurality of staples corresponding to the plurality of staple forming pockets. The surgical stapling instrument further includes a sensing tip disposed on a distal end of the end effector. The sensing tip is formed of a flexible material and includes at least one sensor for measuring at least one mechanical property. The mechanical property may include force, pressure or torque.

SURGICAL FIXATION SYSTEMS, METHODS, AND DEVICES

A spinal stabilization system includes a plurality of anchors and at least one bridge. Each anchor includes a clamp configured to engage an anatomical element, the clamp movable between a fully open position and a fully closed position; a locking screw configured to selectively prevent the clamp from being moved into the fully open position; and a bridge interface. The at least one bridge is a rigid member having a first end and a second end opposite the first end, each of the first end and the second end having an anchor interface. The bridge interface is configured to receive the anchor interface.

A surgical system and method are provided that is configured to effect substituting a high resolution image created pre-surgery for a lower resolution image created in real time during surgery and simulating the real time position of the surgical site.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR AUGMENTED REALITY ASSISTED TRAUMA FIXATION

Disclosed herein are systems and devices for performing computer-aided surgical navigation. Specifically, a system for augmented reality assisted trauma fixation, which displays various views of one or more tracked items, including a guide device, a fixation plate, a surgical tracking device, and an augmented reality display. The guide device having a tip, a handle, and a fixation guide. The fixation plate having at least one aperture designed to receive the tip of the guide. The surgical tracking device configured to track one or more trackable objects associated with the guide, fixation plate, and display, and thereby calculate a location of a fixation device, such as a screw, relative to the fixation plate.

Multiple Coil System For Tracking A Medical Device

A system for tracking the position of one or more medical devices for insertion into the body of a patient is disclosed. The system may also be used to locate one or medical devices at a later time after placement thereof. The present system employs multiple radiating elements that can be simultaneously detected by a sensor unit of the system, wherein at least one of the radiating elements is included with the medical device. Another of the radiating elements may be placed at a predetermined point on the skin of the patient to serve as a landmark to help determine the location of the medical device with respect to the landmark. Detection of the radiating elements by the sensor unit enables the relative positions of the radiating elements to be ascertained and depicted on a display, to assist a clinician in accurately positioning the medical device, such as a catheter.

REFLECTOR MARKERS AND SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR IDENTIFYING AND LOCATING THEM

Markers and related systems and methods are provided for localizing lesions within a patient's body, e.g., within a breast. The marker includes one or more photosensitive diodes for transforming light pulses striking the marker into electrical energy, one or more antennas, and a switch coupled to the photodiodes and antennas such that the light pulses cause the switch to open and close and modulate radar signals reflected by the marker back to a source of the signals. The antenna(s) may include one or more wire elements extending from a housing, one or more antenna elements printed on a substrate, or one or more chip antennas. Optionally, the marker may include a processor coupled to the photodiodes for identifying signals in the light pulses or one or more coatings or filters to allow selective activation of the marker.

System and method for identifying a landmark

A field generator for use in a surgical targeting system is disclosed. The field generator includes a mounting structure including elements that are configured to receive components of an electromagnetic field generator. The elements are disposed on the mounting structure at locations and orientations relative to each other. The field generator includes at least one covering formed over the mounting structure, wherein, in use, the locations and orientations of the elements relative to each other remain substantially unaltered after exposure to one or more sterilization processes.

Surgical robot platform

A medical robot system, including a robot coupled to an end effector element with the robot configured for controlled movement and positioning. The robot system includes a robot base having a display, a robot arm coupled to the robot base, wherein movement of the robot arm is electronically controlled by the robot base. The end-effector is coupled to the robot arm, containing one or more end-effector tracking markers. The system also includes a plurality of dynamic reference bases (DRB) attached to multiple patient fixture instruments, wherein the plurality of dynamic reference bases include one or more tracking markers indicating a position of the patient fixture instrument in a navigational space. The system also includes a first camera system and a second camera system, the first and second camera systems being able to detect a plurality of tracking markers.
