A combined sealing member is provided that includes a composition comprising two or more polyolefin elastomers selected from the group consisting of a dense, a micro-dense and a dynamic silane-crosslinked polyolefin elastomer having a respective density of less than 0.90 g/cm.sup.3, less than 0.70 g/cm.sup.3, and less than 0.60 g/cm.sup.3. The combined sealing member exhibits a compression set of from about 5.0% to about 35.0%, as measured according to ASTM D 395 (22 hrs @ 70? C.).
DYNAMIC SEALS, COMPOSITIONS, AND METHODS OF MAKING THE SAME
A sponge sealing member is provided that includes a composition having a silane-crosslinked polyolefin elastomer with a density less than 0.60 g/cm.sup.3. The sponge sealing member can exhibit a compression set of from about 5.0% to about 35.0%, as measured according to ASTM D 395 (22 hrs @ 70? C.). The silane-crosslinked polyolefin elastomer can also include a first polyolefin having a density less than 0.86 g/cm.sup.3, a second polyolefin having a crystallinity less than 40%, a silane crosslinker, a grafting initiator, a condensation catalyst, and a foaming agent.
EPDM COMPOSITION
An EPDM composition that includes 1 to 12 parts by weight of liquid polybutadiene and 1 to 12 parts by weight of a plant-derived component-containing terpene resin based on 100 parts by weight of a plant-derived component-containing ethylene-propylene-diene terpolymer. The EPDM composition is obtained by adding, to EPDM that has, at least in part, a plant-derived component with low environmental impact, liquid polybutadiene, which is compatible with EPDM and can improve roll processability by reducing the compound viscosity, and further using a specific amount of a plant-derived component-containing terpene resin for the biomass degree, which is reduced due to the addition of the liquid. The rate of change in biomass degree is less than 1.5% in comparison to a composition to which liquid polybutadiene and a plant-derived component-containing terpene resin are not added.
Crosslinking resin composition and sealing material
The present invention provides a crosslinking resin composition comprising an ethylene copolymer and a crosslinking aid, in which the crosslinked product of the resin composition has excellent insulation properties (volume resistivity value). The present invention provides a heat-crosslinking resin composition comprising an ethylene copolymer, a crosslinking agent and a urethane poly(meth)acrylate as a crosslinking aid, and (2) a radiation-crosslinking resin composition comprising an ethylene copolymer and a urethane poly(meth)acrylate as a crosslinking aid.
Method for producing a vessel closure
The invention relates to a method for producing a vessel closure for vessels comprising an opening that is to be closed by the vessel closure, an inner diameter of more than two cm and surrounds a polymer-based sealing element that is arranged in the vessel closure in such a manner that is sealingly rests on the opening of the vessel in the closed state. A polymer material becomes sufficiently free-flowing by warming and is applied to the vessel closure in the region of the sealing element that is to be produced, and optionally, is mechanically formed into the desired shape which it maintains after cooling. The invention also relates to a metal or plastic vessel closures for vessels for receiving drinks or food, and comprises a sealing insert, the material thereof being selected so that the migration of material components into the drink or food, that are a health risk, is prevented. The invention also relates to corresponding materials for said type of sealing inserts and to the use of specific polymers for producing the above-mentioned sealing inserts.
Resin composition, and film for lid materials
The purpose is to provide a resin composition and a film for lid material which excel in sealability and adhesiveness to plastic containers, especially containers made of polyethylene terephthalate, polylactic acid, polystyrene, or polypropylene, and are suitably usable as sealant layers of lid materials for containers. Provided is a resin composition including: an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer (A) by 60-95 parts by weight, the ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer (A) having a vinyl acetate content (VA) of 3-13% by weight, and having a ratio Qw between a weight-average molecular weight (Mw) and a number-average molecular weight (Mn) of 1.5-4.5; and a tackifier resin (B) by 5-40 parts by weight, where a total amount of (A) and (B) is 100 parts by weight.
PVC-FREE CLOSURES
The present invention relates to compositions (compounds) which can be used as seal material in vessel caps, even under pasteurization conditions and possibly sterilization conditions. More specifically, the invention relates to such compositions that are suitable for vessel caps that can be unscrewed, such as lug screw caps and in particular Press-on/Twist-off caps, and that result in a reduced migration of undesirable substances.
