Aromatic extraction and hydrocracking processes are integrated to optimize the hydrocracking units design and/or performance. By processing aromatics-rich and aromatic-lean fractions separately, the hydrocracking operating severity and or catalyst reactor volume requirement decreases.

RAFFINATE HYDROCONVERSION FOR PRODUCTION OF HIGH PERFORMANCE BASE STOCKS

Systems and methods are provided for production of base stocks with a viscosity index of at least 120 and/or a sulfur content of 300 wppm or less and/or a kinematic viscosity at 100 C. of 3.0 cSt to 8.0 cSt by hydroconversion of a raffinate from aromatic extraction of a feed. The base stocks can further have a reduced content of 3+ ring naphthenes, such as 4.0 wt % or less, or 1.0 wt % or less. The base stocks can be produced by performing an elevated amount of feed conversion relative to 370 C. during hydroconversion of the raffinate, and optionally additional conversion during catalytic dewaxing of the hydroconverted raffinate. The base stocks can optionally be blended with additional base stocks and/or lubricant additives for production of lubricant compositions.

Simultaneous production of high value de-aromatized kerosene and BTX from refinery hydrocarbons

The present disclosure discloses a process for obtaining an aromatic lean stream and an aromatic rich stream from a hydrocarbon feed, the process comprising: (a) obtaining a hydrocarbon feed; and (b) contacting the hydrocarbon feed with a solvent selected from a group consisting of alkyl aromatic hydrophilic polyethylene oxide, polyethylene glycols, and combinations thereof to obtain an aromatic lean stream and an aromatic rich stream. It further discloses a simultaneous process to obtain an aromatic lean stream and an aromatic rich stream. The present disclosure also discloses a process for obtaining de-aromatized kerosene from a hydrocarbon feed. Additionally, the present disclosure discloses a process for obtaining BTX from a hydrocarbon feed.

Method of producing aromatics and light olefins from a hydrocarbon feedstock

The present invention relates to method of producing aromatics and light olefins from a hydrocarbon feedstock comprising the steps of: (a) subjecting the hydrocarbon feedstock to a solvent extraction process in a solvent extraction unit; (b) separating from the solvent extracted hydrocarbon feedstock obtained in step (a) a raffinate fraction comprising paraffins and a fraction comprising aromatics and naphtenes; (c) converting said fraction comprising aromatics and naphtenes in a hydrocracking unit and separating into a high content aromatics fraction and a stream high in light paraffins; (d) converting said raffinate fraction in a steam cracking unit into light olefins.

Production of heavy API group II base oil

A process for heavy base oil production, comprising: a. performing an aromatic extraction of a first hydrocarbon feed to produce an aromatic extract, and a waxy raffinate; b. mixing the aromatic extract with a second hydrocarbon feed to make a mixed feed having greater than 2,000 wt ppm sulfur; c. feeding the mixed feed to a hydroprocessing unit to produce a heavy API Group II base oil having a kinematic viscosity at 70 C. from 22.6 to 100 mm.sup.2/s. An integrated refinery process unit for making heavy base oils, comprising: a. an aromatic extraction unit fluidly connected to a solvent dewaxing unit and a hydroprocessing unit; b. a first line from the aromatic extraction unit, that feeds an aromatic extract to a second hydrocarbon feed to make a mixed feed having greater than 2,000 wt ppm sulfur; and c. a connection that feeds the mixed feed to the hydroprocessing unit.

LUBRICANT BASE STOCK PRODUCTION FROM DISADVANTAGED FEEDS

Methods are provided for upgrading disadvantaged feeds for use in lubricant base stock production. A disadvantaged feed can be upgraded by hydroprocessing the feed to form a hydroprocessed bottoms fraction. The hydroprocessed bottoms fraction can then be used as a feed for forming Group I and/or Group II lubricant base stocks, optionally in combination with a conventional feed for lubricant production. The remaining portions of the hydroprocessing effluent can optionally be used for FCC processing and/or for other conventional applications of naphtha and distillate fractions.

BRIGHT STOCK AND HEAVY NEUTRAL PRODUCTION FROM RESID DEASPHALTING

Methods are provided for forming lubricant base stocks from feeds such as vacuum resid or other 510 C.+ feeds. A feed can be deasphalted and then catalytically and/or solvent processed to form lubricant base stocks, including bright stocks that are resistant to haze formation.

BRIGHT STOCK PRODUCTION FROM LOW SEVERITY RESID DEASPHALTING

Methods are provided for forming lubricant base stocks from feeds such as vacuum resid or other 510 C.+ feeds. A feed can be deasphalted and then catalytically and/or solvent processed to form lubricant base stocks, including bright stocks that are resistant to haze formation.

BRIGHT STOCK PRODUCTION FROM LOW SEVERITY RESID DEASPHALTING

Methods are provided for forming lubricant base stocks from feeds such as vacuum resid or other 510 C.+ feeds. A feed can be deasphalted and then catalytically and/or solvent processed to form lubricant base stocks, including bright stocks. The catalytic processing can correspond to processing in at least two stages. The amount of conversion performed in each stage can be varied to produce bright stocks with various properties.
