Device and methods of improving laparoscopic surgery

Methods and devices for improving the interface between a surgeon and an operating medical assistant or between the surgeon and an endoscope system for laparoscopic surgery. A device is useful for controlling an endoscope system for laparoscopic surgery and includes a wearable interface for enhancing the control of an endoscope system during laparoscopic surgery.

MICRO VEIN ENHANCER FOR HANDS-FREE IMAGING FOR A VENIPUNCTURE PROCEDURE

The present invention is a Miniature Vein Enhancer that includes a Miniature Projection Head. The Miniature Projection Head may be operated in one of three modes, AFM, DBM, and RTM. The Miniature Projection Head of the present invention projects an image of the veins of a patient, which aids the practitioner in pinpointing a vein for an intravenous drip, blood test, and the like. The Miniature projection head may have a cavity for a power source or it may have a power source located in a body portion of the Miniature Vein Enhancer. The Miniature Vein Enhancer may be attached to one of several improved needle protectors, or the Miniature Vein Enhancer may be attached to a body similar to a flashlight for hand held use. The Miniature Vein Enhancer of the present invention may also be attached to a magnifying glass, a flat panel display, and the like.

Device and methods of improving laparoscopic surgery

A surgical system includes at least two laparoscopic instruments having distal portions positionable in a body cavity. An endoscopic camera is carried by a robotic automated assistant and is positionable in the body cavity to capture images of a surgical site and the distal portions of the laparoscopic instruments. At least one computerized platform is configured for receiving input from a user input device indicating a user selection of a selected one of the laparoscopic instruments, visually identifying the selected one of said laparoscopic instruments using a graphic designator on said displayed images of the surgical site, tracking the selected laparoscopic instrument using image information received from said endoscopic camera, and causing the automated assistant to maneuver the endoscopic camera so as to focus said endoscope on s the selected laparoscopic instrument.

A dental implant screwdriver harness system enables a dentist to restrain and stabilize an implant screwdriver, while simultaneously turning the driver head using only one hand. A tether attached to the dentist's hand/finger connects to a stepped socket assembly, comprising multiple driver sockets, which seat driver heads of several standard diameters. A flexible slotted driver shaft strap wraps over the driver shaft and holds the driver head down against a central socket base.

Positioning a cord of a corded instrument is accomplished by securing a wearable cord positioner around a wrist or arm of a technician, and then attaching a cord positioner attachment to the cord positioner for cords that are larger or smaller than the cord positioner is designed to accommodate. Multiple cord positioner attachments may be used with the same cord positioner, and the cord positioner attachments may be left attached to a cord permanently. Once a technician is done performing a task, the cord positioner attachment can simply be slipped off of the cord positioner attached to the technician and left with the cord so that it is never misplaced.

ENDOSCOPE APPARATUS

Disclosed is an endoscope apparatus. The endoscope apparatus of the present invention includes: an endoscope including a flexible insertion section to be inserted into a human body; a flexible channel attached to the insertion section so that a part forms a passage in a longitudinal direction of the insertion section; and an assistant arm movably inserted into the passage and manipulated by a control device, and the assistant arm includes forceps capable of gripping a human body tissue, and a bending section bent by the control device to pull the human body tissue griped by the forceps.
