FLUSHING DEVICES AND METHODS
The present invention relates to a system for flushing a medical device, comprising a multi-port valve for controlling the delivery of flushing fluids, the multi-port valve connected to a source of pressurised flushing gas; a fluid outlet for coupling flushing fluids to the medical device; and, a gas-driven pump connected to the fluid outlet, wherein, in a first configuration, the multi-port valve couples a flow of gas from the source of pressurised flushing gas to the fluid outlet, and wherein, in a second configuration, the multi-port valve couples a flow of gas from the source of pressurised flushing gas to the gas-driven pump to drive the gas-driven pump thereby to provide a flow of flushing liquid to the fluid outlet.
System, method, and computer program product for tracking endoscopes in a forced-air drying cabinet
Described are a system, method, and computer program product for tracking endoscopes in a forced-air drying cabinet including a compressor, a plurality of support arrangements, and an inner area accessible by a door. The method may include receiving a signal from a signal emitting member attached to and associated with an endoscope. The method may also include determining an identifier and a drying protocol of the endoscope. The method may further include identifying a support arrangement to support the endoscope and determining a connection status of the endoscope to a first airflow output and a second airflow output. The method may further include initiating a drying process, when the endoscope is connected, according to the drying protocol by causing the compressor to create at least one airflow through the endoscope from the first airflow output, the second airflow output, or a combination thereof.
Surgical devices with moisture control
A surgical device including a handle assembly, an elongated portion, an end effector, a drive shaft, and a wick is disclosed. The wick is disposed within an outer sleeve of the elongated portion and is made from a fibrous material. The wick is configured to transfer moisture from a first portion of the wick to a second portion of the wick.
Method and apparatus to evaluate internal flexible endoscope channels in the context of endoscope ports and channel complexities
A test instrument and a method for producing a test instrument used to evaluate a cleaning, disinfection and/or drying processes of internal flexible channels includes obtaining a medical instrument having a flexible probe section configured for insertion into a body, the flexible probe section including at least one internal flexible channel and at least one external device port, and attaching an access device between the at least one external device port and the at least one internal flexible channel to enable selective access into the internal flexible channel.
OBLONG ENDOSCOPE SHEATH
An endoscope sheath comprising: a proximal end; a distal end having a distal end region; a surface extending between and connecting the proximal end and the distal end; and a plurality of positioning devices located along the surface; wherein the sheath is configured to: (1) receive all or a portion of an endoscope having a cylindrical end and (2) provide a conduit for communicating fluid between the proximal end of the sheath and the distal end of the sheath when the endoscope is inserted inside the sheath; and wherein the distal end region of the sheath includes the plurality of positioning devices that secure the cylindrical end of the endoscope against a portion of an inner wall of the surface extending between the proximal end and the distal end so that a fluid barrier is created between the cylindrical end of the endoscope and the inner wall.
APPARATUS AND METHOD TO ASYNCHRONOUSLY FILL AND PURGE CHANNELS OF ENDOSCOPE SIMULTANEOUSLY
A method is provided for reprocessing an internal channel of a medical device with a reprocessing system having a valve, a fluid line fluidly coupled with the valve, and at least one sensor coupled with the fluid line. The method includes performing an actuation of the valve to direct liquid through the fluid line and into the internal channel, and detecting with the at least one sensor a predetermined condition within the fluid line while the liquid is being directed into the internal channel. In response to detecting the predetermined condition, a time duration measured from the actuation of the valve is recorded. The method further includes purging the liquid from the internal channel, and directing liquid through the fluid line and into the internal channel for the time duration.
Apparatus and method to measure concentration of disinfectant in medical device reprocessing system
A medical instrument processor includes an enclosure, a liquid distribution system, and a disinfectant concentration measuring subsystem. The enclosure is configured to hold a medical instrument. The liquid distribution system is configured to deliver a disinfection solution to a medical instrument within the enclosure. The liquid distribution system has a liquid outlet. The disinfectant concentration measuring subsystem includes a first mixing chamber in fluid communication with the liquid outlet, a pump that is configured to simultaneously pump the disinfection solution and the reagent solution into the first mixing chamber, and a concentration analysis assembly that is operable to determine a concentration of disinfectant in a sample solution that is output from the first mixing chamber. The reservoir is in fluid communication with the first mixing chamber.
Systems and methods to prevent catheter occlusion
A system to detect occlusion of an intravenous catheter may include a housing, which may include a distal end configured to couple to a proximal end of a catheter adapter and an inner lumen forming a fluid pathway. The system may also include one or more transmitters, which may be disposed within the housing. The transmitters may be configured to transmit first energy waves along a length of an intravenous catheter at a first frequency, and a portion of the first energy waves that are reflected back from the catheter may be detected by the system. Based on the portion of the first energy waves that are reflected back from the catheter, the transmitters may transmit second energy waves along the length of the catheter at a second frequency, which may be greater than the first frequency and configured to reduce formation of blood clots within the catheter.
Declogging Method and System
A medical device includes a hollow tubular connector having a first open end and a second open end, the first open end configured to be connected to a suction port of a surgical cutting device, and the second open end configured to be connected to a source of pressurized air, the hollow tubular connector including a first seal located proximate the first open end and having a first diameter, the first seal being configured to sealingly accommodate a tubular shank, of a first diameter, of a blade of the surgical cutting device.
