THERMAL SLUDGE TO ENERGY TRANSFORMER
20250012439 · 2025-01-09 ·

Systems and processes provide for a thermal process to transform sludge (and a variety of other natural waste materials) into electricity. Dewatered sludge and other materials containing a high amount of latent energy are dried into a powdered biofuel using a drying gas produced in the system. The drying gas is recirculated and is heated by the biofuel produced in the system, waste heat (from turbines or internal combustion engines), gas (including natural gas or digester gas) and/or oil. The biofuel is combusted in a boiler system that utilizes a burner operable to burn biofuel and produce heat utilized in a series of heat exchangers that heat the recirculating drying air and steam that powers the turbines for electricity production.

GASIFICATION APPARATUS WITH SUPERCRITICAL FLUID

A gasification apparatus heats and pressurizes a gasification feedstock to bring the gasification feedstock into a supercritical state, and performs decomposition-treatment on the gasification feedstock to obtain fuel gas. The gasification apparatus includes a heat exchanger, a gas-liquid separator, and a synthesizer. The heat exchanger introduces the gasification feedstock into a low-temperature-side flow channel and introduces treated fluid in a supercritical state into a high-temperature-side flow channel, so that heat exchange is performed between the gasification feedstock and the treated fluid. The gas-liquid separator extracts, from the high-temperature-side flow channel, the treated fluid that has been in a subcritical state due to heat exchange, performs gas-liquid separation on the treated fluid, and returns a separated liquid to the high-temperature-side flow channel. The synthesizer synthesizes a liquid fuel from fuel gas separated by the gas-liquid separator.

INCLINED ROTARY GASIFIER WASTE TO ENERGY SYSTEM

A gasifier system includes a reactor for receiving a wet feedstock which has a base and a container rotatably connected to the base such that a rotation of the container causes a mixing of the feedstock in an interior of the reactor. The interior is bounded by the base and the container. A space between the base and the container allows an entry of oxygen into the interior. The space has a dimension such that the feedstock is fully oxidized in a combustion area adjacent the base and such that the feedstock avoids combustion in a remainder of the interior. The reactor has a longitudinal axis inclined at an inclination angle relative to a horizontal line to promote the mixing of the feedstock in the interior.
