The presence or absence of objects tagged with transponders may be determined in an environment in which medical procedures are performed via an interrogation and detection system which includes a controller and a plurality of antennas positioned along a patient support structure. The antennas may be positioned along an operating table, bed, mattress or pad, sheet, or may be positioned on a drape, or shade. Respective antennas may successively be activated to transmit interrogation signals. Multiple antennas may be monitored for responses from transponders to the interrogation signals. For example, all antennas other than the antenna that transmitted the most recent interrogation signal may be monitored. Antennas may be responsive to force, a signal indicative of such force being produced. A wireless physiological condition monitor may detect patient physiological conditions and wirelessly transmit signals indicative of such.

Context aware surgical systems for intraoperatively configuring imaging devices
Systems and methods are provided in which devices that are employed during a medical procedure are adaptively configured during the medical procedure, based on input or feedback that is associated with the current state, phase or context of the medical procedure. In some example embodiments, the input is obtained via the identification of one or more medical instruments present within a region of interest, and this input may be employed to determine configuration parameters for configuring the device. In other example embodiments, the input may be based on the image-based detection of a measure associated with the phase or context of the medical procedure, and this input may be employed to adaptively control the device based on the inferred context or phase of the medical procedure. In other embodiments, images from one imaging modality may be employed to adaptively switch to another imaging modality.
Context aware surgical systems for intraoperatively configuring imaging devices
Systems and methods are provided in which devices that are employed during a medical procedure are adaptively configured during the medical procedure, based on input or feedback that is associated with the current state, phase or context of the medical procedure. In some example embodiments, the input is obtained via the identification of one or more medical instruments present within a region of interest, and this input may be employed to determine configuration parameters for configuring the device. Surgical visualization systems
A surgical device includes one or more cameras integrated therein. The view of each of the one or more cameras can be integrated together and provided to a surgeon display and/or an assistant display. A surgical tool that includes an integrated camera may be used in conjunction with the surgical device. The image produced by the camera integrated with the surgical tool may be associated with the images generated by the one or more cameras integrated in the surgical device. The position and orientation of the cameras and/or the surgical tool can be tracked, and the surgical tool can be rendered as at least partially transparent. A surgical device may be powered by a hydraulic system, thereby reducing electromagnetic interference with tracking devices.

A method comprises obtaining, for one or more medical instruments coupled to a teleoperational medical system, one or more corresponding medical instrument positions relative to a field of view of at least one imaging instrument coupled to the teleoperation medical system. The method also comprises initiating, for a selected medical instrument of the one or more medical instruments, generation of a corresponding indicator to a user. The corresponding indicator may be based on a position of the selected medical instrument relative to the field of view.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR ONSCREEN IDENTIFICATION OF INSTRUMENTS IN A TELEOPERATIONAL MEDICAL SYSTEM
A method comprises obtaining, for one or more medical instruments coupled to a teleoperational medical system, one or more corresponding medical instrument positions relative to a field of view of at least one imaging instrument coupled to the teleoperation medical system. The method also comprises initiating, for a selected medical instrument of the one or more medical instruments, generation of a corresponding indicator to a user. The corresponding indicator may be based on a position of the selected medical instrument relative to the field of view.
