A force transmission mechanism includes a chassis that supports a rotatable arm, which includes a slot. A rotatable lever is supported by the chassis. A protrusion at an end of the lever engages the slot. A sliding drive element is supported by the chassis. A proximal termination of the drive element engages a second end of the lever. The chassis may support an elongate tube with an end effector fixed to the tube. The drive element may extend through the elongate tube. The elongate tube may rotate relative to the chassis. The drive element may rotate in unison with the elongate tube with the proximal termination rotating relative to the fork. The drive element may be a tube that provides a fluid passage to the end effector. The lever may be a bell crank with arms at a right angle.
System and method for temperature control in irrigated ablation
A catheter ablation system includes: a catheter probe having distal end including: a temperature sensor; a plurality of irrigation holes; and an ablating electrode; a radiofrequency (RF) heating controller coupled to the catheter probe and configured to supply RF energy to the ablating electrode to control the ablating electrode to emit heat at a target power; an irrigation controller coupled to the catheter probe and configured to supply an irrigation fluid at a continuously adjustable irrigation flow rate through the catheter probe to exit through the irrigation holes; and an operating console having a processor and memory, the memory storing instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to control the irrigation controller to set the irrigation flow rate based on the target power and a target average temperature.
LASER-ASSISTED ORAL SURGERY SYSTEM
Periodontal disorders such as disorders associated with a dental implant are treated. An average power for a laser is selected via a user interface on a tablet, along with a set of permissible laser parameters provided in response to the selected average power. A gingival trough or flap is created around the implant with the laser. Infected tissue is selectively ablated or denatured via photothermolysis, and a pocket is lased around the affected implant. Marginal tissues are compressed against the implant.

Medical apparatus includes an insertion tube configured for insertion into a body cavity of a patient and an expandable assembly connected distally to the insertion tube and comprising electrodes, which are configured to apply electrical energy to tissue within the body cavity. A forceps includes a handle, a shaft having a proximal end coupled to the handle, and an end effector assembly coupled to a distal end of the shaft. The forceps includes a first jaw member and a second jaw member for grasping tissue therebetween. One or both of the first and second jaw members may include one or more needles extending therefrom. The one or more needles are in fluid communication with a fluid conduit extending along one or both of the first and second jaw members. The fluid conduit couples to a source of contrast agent to enable selective delivery of the contrast agent through the one or more needles.

SCREW-IN BIPOLAR ABLATION, MAPPING AND THERAPEUTIC CATHETER
Various embodiments are described herein for a bipolar catheter that generally comprises: a catheter body having a distal end portion and a proximal end portion; a first electrode at the distal end portion, the first electrode being on a spiral structure for rotational insertion into a physiological target region; a second electrode at the proximal end portion and spaced apart from the first electrode; and first and second electrode terminals spaced apart from one another at the proximal end portion and electrically coupled to the first and second electrodes respectively. The first and second electrodes are configured to function as active and dispersive electrodes respectively, or vice-versa. Also described are various embodiments of methods which generally include coupling the bipolar catheter to a signal generator; inserting the bipolar catheter at a physiological target region; and performing the procedure.
