SYSTEM AND METHODS FOR CONTACTLESS MONITORING OF HEART MUSCLE ACTIVITY AND IDENTIFYING MEDICAL CONDITIONS BASED ON BIOPOTENTIAL SIGNALS
The present teachings relate to monitoring the condition of a subject with a contactless system for sensing biopotential signals comprising: a support surface; one or more inner layers; a plurality of contactless electrode units within the one or more inner layers; one or more outer layers; and wherein the plurality of contactless electrode units are arranged in an inner shape within an outer shape such that the contactless electrode units form the vertices of the inner shape and the outer shape. The method includes the steps of: providing a support surface having one or more sensing devices embedded therein; positioning the subject at least partially on the support surface; acquiring data from an electrocardiograph reading on the subject for a predetermined amount of time; outputting the data of the step (c); and analyzing the data of the step (c), by identifying one or more biomarkers consistent with a disease condition.
Apparatus and method for measuring the blood oxygen saturation in a subject's tissue
An apparatus and method for non-invasively determining the blood oxygen saturation within a subject's tissue by near-infrared spectroscopy is disclosed. Embodiments of the apparatus and method use the multi-distance method and take into account the attenuation of the light signal due to light absorbers other than hemoglobin and deoxyhemoglobin and the scattering properties of a subject's tissue.
HYDROPHOBIC MATERIALS IN A MEDICAL SENSOR
A patient monitoring sensor having a communication interface, through which the patient monitoring sensor can communicate with a monitor is provided. The patient monitoring sensor includes a light-emitting diode (LED) communicatively coupled to the communication interface and a detector, communicatively coupled to the communication interface, capable of detecting light. The patient monitoring sensor includes hydrophobic materials provided around the light-emitting diode and the detector, wherein the hydrophobic materials reduce water absorption and prevent bacterial growth within the sensor.
PORTABLE DEVICE HAVING USER INTERFACE FOR VISUALIZING DATA FROM MEDICAL MONITORING AND LABORATORY EQUIPMENT
A wireless device for facilitating visualization of a state of a patient being monitored by monitoring equipment. The device includes a wireless network interface, a camera, and a touch-sensitive display. A processor is in communication with the wireless network interface, the camera, a memory and the touch-sensitive display over a system bus. The device wirelessly receives data representative of a state of a first physiological parameter of a patient over a time interval. The visualization data includes a plurality of visualization data values, each of the visualization data values being generated by a data visualization module of the data visualization server from multiple values of machine data produced by the monitoring equipment in connection with monitoring the first physiological parameter. A first portion of a monitoring screen displayed by the device includes a graphical representation of the visualization data over the time interval along with or more range indicators.
System, apparatus, and method for detection of ureteropelvic junction obstruction
Systems, apparatuses, and methods for diagnosing ureteropelvic junction obstruction. A set of biomarkers may be extracted from each of one or more time-activity curves associated with diuresis renography and/or functional magnetic resonance urography of one or more kidneys of a patient. One or more calculations can be performed based on the set of biomarkers to identify uretero-pelvic junction obstruction and a classification of severity or criticality thereof.
ULTRA WIDEBAND (UWB) BABY MONITORS FOR DETECTION OF INFANT CARDIOPULMONARY DISTRESS
Ultra wideband patient monitoring systems, and particularly baby monitoring systems, adapted to prevent reflective loss between the antenna and the patient's body. The devices, systems and methods described herein may be used to efficiently couple UWB energy to a patient for patient monitoring. In particular, described herein are impedance transformer pads, mats and the like, upon which a patient may comfortably lie while being monitored via one or more UWB sensors (e.g., antenna); the impedance transformer pads help match the impedance and prevent reflective loss of UWB energy. Also described herein are bassinets, including NICU bassinets and baby monitors.
BILIRUBIN CONCENTRATION MEASUREMENT SYSTEM
A bilirubin concentration measurement system according to the present invention includes: a sensor device attachable to a subject; and a terminal device capable of wirelessly communicating with the sensor device. The sensor device includes: a light emitting element that emits blue light; a light emitting element that emits green light; a light detection element that detects reflected light that is the blue light having been incident on skin of the subject and been reflected, and detects reflected light that is the green light having been incident on the skin of the subject and been reflected; and a communication unit that wirelessly transmits information about intensities of the reflected light detected by the light detection element. The terminal device includes: a communication unit that receives the information about the intensities of the reflected light transmitted from the sensor device; and a computing unit that calculates a bilirubin concentration using the information about the intensities of the reflected light.
DETECTION OF PATENT DUCTUS ARTERIOSUS USING PHOTOPLETHYSMOGRAPHY
Methods and systems are described for detecting the likelihood of patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) in an infant using electrocardiogram and photoplethysmographic pulse signals obtained from the upper body and foot of the infant.
Blood pressure measuring apparatus
A pressurizing/depressurizing section (4) performs at least one of air feeding to a cuff (20) by way of an air way (3) and air discharging by way of the air way (3) to thereby increase or decrease an internal pressure of the cuff (20). A first controlling section (5) causes the pressurizing/depressurizing section (4) to initiate the air feeding while performing the air discharging to thereby cause the internal pressure to transit from a pressure transient state to a pressure steady state or from the pressure steady state to the pressure transient state. A determining section (6) determines Whether the internal pressure has transited to the pressure steady state by way of the pressure transient state. A second controlling section (7) causes the pressurizing/depressurizing section (4) to suppress or stop the air discharging while continuing the air feeding, in accordance with determination made by the determining section (6).
X-ray compatible infant monitoring and support system
Systems and methods for providing infant monitoring and support avoid image degradation, for x-ray imaging, related to sensors used for infant monitoring by separating an infant-supporting body from a sensor-carrying body. The sensor-carrying body, and with it any number of related sensors, is moved out of the way during x-ray imaging.
