Lubricant composition comprising hydroxycarboxylic acid derived friction modifier
The present invention relates to a lubricant composition containing a base stock and at least 0.01 wt % of a friction reducing additive which is a compound of the Formula (I):
R.sup.1[(AO).sub.n—R.sup.2].sub.m (I)
wherein R.sup.1 is the residue of a group having at least 2 active hydrogen atoms; m is at least 2; AO is an alkylene oxide residue; each n is independently from 0 to 100; and each R.sup.2 is independently H or R.sup.3, where each R.sup.3 is independently a residue of a polyhydroxyalkyl or polyhydroxyalkenyl carboxylic acid, a residue of a hydroxyalkyl or hydroxyalkenyl carboxylic acid and/or a residue of an oligomer of the hydroxyalkyl or hydroxyalkenyl carboxylic acid; and on average at least 0.5 of R.sup.2 groups are R.sup.3. The lubricant composition is suitable for use in an engine oil, a hydraulic oil or fluid, a gear oil and/or a metal-working fluid.

The present invention relates to a lubricant composition containing a base stock and at least 0.01 wt % of a friction reducing additive which is a compound of the Formula (I):

The lubricant composition is suitable for use in an engine oil, a hydraulic oil or fluid, a gear oil and/or a metal-working fluid.
Polyethylene diester viscosity modifiers
Disclosed are compositions containing at least one of the following: (1) estolide polyethylene glycol diesters; (2) hydroxy derived estolide polyethylene glycol diesters; (3) unsaturated hydroxy derived estolide polyethylene glycol diesters; (4) estolide trimetholpropane diesters; (5) hydroxy derived estolide trimetholpropane diesters; (6) unsaturated hydroxy derived estolide trimetholpropane diesters; (7) estolide epoxide polyethylene glycol diesters; (8) estolide dihydroxide polyethylene glycol diesters; (9) mono-capped hydroxy derived estolide epoxide polyethylene glycol diesters; (10) mono-capped hydroxy derived estolide dihydroxide polyethylene glycol diesters;
and mixtures thereof; and optionally a carrier. All the compounds can be used as a viscosity index improver thereby improving a lubricant's performance.

Lubricating composition containing an oxyalkylated hydrocarbyl phenol
The invention provides lubricating composition comprising: an oil of lubricating viscosity, and an oxyalkylated hydrocarbyl phenol, wherein the oxyalkylated hydrocarbyl phenol is substituted with at least one aliphatic hydrocarbyl group of 40 to 96 carbon atoms, and wherein the oxyalkylated hydrocarbyl phenol is substantially free of aromatic hydrocarbyl groups. The invention further relates to a method of lubricating a mechanical device (such as an internal combustion engine) with the lubricating composition. The invention further relates to the use of the oxyalkylated hydrocarbyl phenol in the lubricating composition to a passenger car internal combustion engine at least one of (i) control of fuel economy, (ii) control of corrosion, (iii) cleanliness, and (iv) control of bore wear.

HYPERBRANCHED POLYETHERS AND THEIR USE, ESPECIALLY AS POUR POINT DEPRESSANT AND WAX INHIBITORS
The present invention relates to a hyperbranched polyether of formula (I) R.sub.mQ.sub.n-0-R.sup.1 (I), wherein Q is a branching unit of formula, n is 2.sup.k1, m is 2.sup.k, k is 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6, each R is independently a hydrocarbon radical having at least 10 carbon atoms, R.sup.1 is a polymer having a number average molecular weight M.sub.n of at least 250 g/mol, wherein each branching unit Q is connected via ether linkage to adjacent branching units Q and each terminal oxygen of Q, not connected to adjacent branching units Q, is connected to R via ether linkage, as well as mixtures thereof. The present invention further relates to formulations comprising said hyperbranched polyether or mixture of ethers as well as their use.

HYPERBRANCHED POLYETHERS AND THEIR USE, ESPECIALLY AS POUR POINT DEPRESSANT AND WAX INHIBITORS
The present invention relates to a hyperbranched polyether of formula (I) R.sub.mQ.sub.n-0-R.sup.1 (I), wherein Q is a branching unit of formula, n is 2.sup.k1, m is 2.sup.k, k is 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6, each R is independently a hydrocarbon radical having at least 10 carbon atoms, R.sup.1 is a polymer having a number average molecular weight M.sub.n of at least 250 g/mol, wherein each branching unit Q is connected via ether linkage to adjacent branching units Q and each terminal oxygen of Q, not connected to adjacent branching units Q, is connected to R via ether linkage, as well as mixtures thereof. The present invention further relates to formulations comprising said hyperbranched polyether or mixture of ethers as well as their use.
