The present invention generally relates to lubricating oil compositions comprising a biobased base oil, methods of lubricating an engine with said lubricating oil compositions. Also disclosed is the use of said lubricating oil compositions in an engine.
LUBRICATING OIL COMPOSITION AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING SAID LUBRICATING OIL COMPOSITION
The lubricating oil composition of the present invention contains, together with a base oil, a viscosity index improver (A) including a comb-shaped polymer (A1), a detergent dispersant (B) including an alkali metal borate (B1) and an organometallic compound (B2) containing a metal atom selected from an alkali metal atom and an alkaline earth metal atom, and a friction modifier (C) including a molybdenum-containing friction modifier, with the total content of an alkali metal atom and an alkaline earth metal atom being 2,000 mass ppm or less. The lubricating oil composition of the present invention has excellent detergency, fuel saving properties, and LSPI-preventing properties.

Composition and Method of Manufacturing Overbased Sulfonate Modified Lithium Carboxylate Grease
An overbased sulfonate modified lithium carboxylate grease composition and method of manufacture comprising overbased calcium sulfonate, overbased magnesium sulfonate, or both added to a source of lithium hydroxide, base oil, and optionally one or more acids when a complex grease is desired. When overbased sulfonate is added, the amount of dicarboxylic acid relative monocarboxylic acid may be reduced. Additionally, the amount of lithium hydroxide added may be less than stoichiometrically needed to react with the acids. A sulfonate modified lithium grease with improved thickener yield and dropping point may be made without multiple heating and cooling cycles or using a pressurized kettle.
LUBRICATING COMPOSITION
A lubricating composition for use in the crankcase of an engine comprising (i) a base oil; (ii) one or more organo-molybdenum compounds at a level sufficient to provide from 100 to 1000 ppmw of molybdenum; and (iii) from 0.2 wt % to 5.0 wt %, by weight of the lubricating composition, of one or more organic polymeric friction reducing additives, wherein the one or more organic polymeric friction reducing additives has a molecular weight ranging from 1000 to 30000 Daltons and is the reaction product of: a) a hydrophobic polymeric sub unit which comprises a hydrophobic polymer selected from polyolefins, polyacrylics and polystyrenyls; b) a hydrophilic polymeric sub unit which comprises a hydrophilic polymer selected from polyethers, polyesters, polyamides; c) optionally at least one backbone moiety capable of linking together polymeric sub units; and d) optionally a chain terminating group. The lubricating composition provides improvements in terms of reduced friction and wear, in addition to improved fuel economy performance.
