Tooth enamel replacement
A method for performing enamel replacement on a tooth in the mouth of a person, the method including: beginning an arch reformulation therapy (ART) process, selecting a tooth for an enamel replacement process to be performed on, identifying a surface of the tooth to have a dental composite material adhered to as part of the enamel replacement process, discluding multiple teeth during the ART process including the selected tooth, preparing the identified surface of the selected tooth for adherence of a dental composite material, the preparation including application of a preparation material to the surface of the tooth, and applying the dental composite material to the prepared surface.
Image guided navigation system
An image guidance system for tracking a surgical instrument within the oral cavity. The image guidance system includes a plurality of cameras adapted to be located within the oral cavity to provide intraoral images of optically visible patterns within oral cavity. A processing system receives and processes the intraoral images to recognize patterns and triangulate the locations and orientations of each camera. The processing system uses a reference dataset which defines a reference coordinate system based on alignment to a portion of the oral anatomy. The processing system determines the location and orientation of the tracked instrument based on the reference dataset. In an embodiment, the system includes an oral fixture that is removably attachable to teeth in a patient and is configured to hold one of the cameras.
SPLINT DEVICE FOR FORMING A FIDUCIAL MARKER FOR A SURGICAL ROBOT GUIDANCE SYSTEM, AND ASSOCIATED METHOD
A method of implementing a splint device, and associated splint device, are provided for a guidance system of a surgical robot. A splint body includes first and second stabilizing portions extending from opposed lateral sides of a medial portion, and defines a U channel. The medial portion, or the medial portion and one of the stabilizing portions, defines a bridge portion extending along the U channel. A partition member, received by the bridge portion, extends into and longitudinally along the U channel. An adhesive material is engaged with the splint body, within the U channel. The U channel is engaged about a tooth or jaw of a patient, and urged toward the tooth or jaw, such that the partition member engages the tooth or jaw and separates the adhesive material into a first portion engaged with the first stabilizing portion and a second portion engaged with the second stabilizing portion.
Therapeutic Tooth Bud Ablation
Ablation probe tips (108, 148, 320, 360) and physical and virtual stents (110) for use in tooth bud ablation procedures that result in tooth agenesis as well as tooth bud ablation methods are described herein.
Therapeutic tooth bud ablation
An ablation procedure. The ablation procedure may be applied to tooth buds 120 and result in tooth agenesis. The ablation procedure may be applied to lesions or tumors. A tooth bud ablation system for use in a tooth bud ablation procedure that results in tooth agenesis. A method for volume scanning both hard tissues and soft tissues of a patient. A method for manufacturing or fabricating a custom surgical stent 110. A custom surgical stent 110 for use in a tooth bud ablation procedure that results in tooth agenesis, the custom surgical stent 110 for use with an ablation probe tip 108 having a center of ablation 130a.
SPLINT DEVICE FOR GUIDED SURGICAL ROBOT
A splint device (100) for robotically-guided surgery includes elongate first and second splint portions (200, 400) each having opposed longitudinal ends and an interface edge extending between the ends, wherein the respective interface edges (250, 450) are arranged as a complement to each other. First and second alignment elements (800A, 800B) engaged with the first and second splint portions are arranged to interact with each other such that a substantially consistent gap is defined between the first and second interface edges, from the first ends to the second ends of the first and second splint portions. A threaded member (900) is engaged between the first and second splint portions and arranged to advance the first and second interface edges toward each other in response to advancement of the threaded member. A tracking portion (1000) having a kinematic mount (1100) engaged therewith is engaged with the first or second splint portion and extends outwardly therefrom. An associated method is also provided.
CUSTOM THREE DIMENSIONAL FORMING OF SURGICAL GUIDES
A kit including a medical guide template, and a sterilizable receptacle accommodating the guide template, the kit being configured to allow deformation of the template into an operational medical guide.
BITE BLOCK WITH A NEEDLE ALIGNMENT ATTACHMENT SYSTEM
A bite block with inclined surfaces fits between a patient’s upper and lower jaws to hold them apart and fixes the bite block position relative to the jaws. A support plate slides relative to the bite block to position a needle guide on the support plate along an axis of the support plate. A position stop on the support plate contacts the anterior border of the Ramus of the patient’s mandible to position the needle guide along the axis. A syringe needle is guided by the needle guide to a predetermined location to administer anesthetic, preferably to the inferior alveolar nerve as it enters the mandible. The needle guide is inclined to avoid gaging and a tongue depressor attached to the support plate positions the patient’s tongue.
Method and Device for Causing Tooth Movement
A method of increasing movement of a tooth in a jaw having at least one tooth with an orthodontic brace thereon includes: (1) holding a handle of a device, the device having an elongate member extending from the handle and a screw tip at a distal end of the elongate member; (2) moving a sleeve along the elongate member to set a length of exposed screw tip; (3) locking the sleeve in place relative to the screw tip; (4) drilling a hole with the screw tip through a cortical bone of a jaw to increase movement of the tooth; and (5) stopping the drilling when the length of exposed screw tip has penetrated the jaw.
Method for restoring a tooth
A dental overlay is prepared for use with a cutting tool in preparing a tooth to be prepared for restoration. A prepared tooth is simulated based on three-dimensional data acquired from a dentition to define tooth structure to be removed by a cutting tool from the tooth to be prepared. A dental overlay configured for placement onto one or both of the tooth to be prepared and a neighboring tooth is produced. The overlay includes an occlusal portion and buccal and lingual sides extending from the occlusal portion. The overlay has a first guiding groove configured for contact with the cutting tool so as to limit movements to be followed by the cutting tool to predetermined movements for removing a portion of the defined tooth structure to be removed. A first portion of the first guiding groove extends through the buccal or lingual side of the overlay.
