Ultrasonic dental handpiece with rotary coupling
An ultrasonic dental handpiece system with rotary coupling comprising a dental handpiece and a dental handpiece tip wherein the system incorporates a swivel mechanism and dynamic fluid interface for the dental handpiece and dental handpiece tip to rotate freely relative to the dental handpiece cable thereby decoupling the handpiece from a torsion load applied to it by the handpiece cable and internal tubing and wires. The ultrasonic dental handpiece with rotary coupling generally includes a handpiece to which a piezo assembly and secondary coil are housed and a cable assembly including a primary coil and handpiece cable wherein the handpiece cable provides a supply of electrical energy and cooling lavage. The primary and secondary coils form a transformer wherein the secondary coil is inductively coupled to the primary coil with the secondary coil in electrical communication with the piezo assembly. A method of using a handpiece is also disclosed.
AN INDEXED DRIVE SYSTEM
An indexed drive system (10) for mechanised tools, in particular an electric toothbrush, for selectively imparting various drive modes to a pair of concentrically-arranged drive shafts (12, 14) thereby imparting various brushing modes to the head (H) of the mechanised tool, in particular an electric toothbrush.

A root canal treatment instrument 100 continues drive of a cutting tool 5 in forward rotation drive until reaching 180 degrees, and when a load applied to the cutting tool 5 is equal to or greater than a reference load, drive of the cutting tool 5 is switched to reverse rotation drive until reaching 90 degrees. In the root canal treatment instrument 100, when a cumulative amount of rotation is equal to or greater than a reference amount of rotation, change to a drive pattern is made, forward rotation drive is continued until reaching 90 degrees, and when a load applied to the cutting tool 5 is equal to or greater than the reference load, drive of the cutting tool 5 is switched to reverse rotation drive until reaching 180 degrees.

Electrically driven device
An electrically driven device includes a housing, an electric motor with a drive shaft having a first rotary axis and a drive pin connected to the drive shaft eccentrically with respect to the rotary axis, and a driven shaft having a second rotary axis and mounted in the housing for performing a pivoting about the second rotary axis. The driven shaft is coupled to the drive shaft by a gear mechanism including a scotch yoke mechanism converting a rotary motion of the drive shaft into a reciprocating motion of the driven shaft. The scotch yoke mechanism includes a cross slider having a sliding support extending perpendicular to the first rotary axis and receiving the drive pin either directly or through a sliding block with a bearing receiving the drive pin. The cross slider is guided in the housing by at least two pivotable links. The driven shaft is coupled to the cross slider by an arm, converting a rotary motion of the drive shaft into a reciprocating of the driven shaft.
Coupling device for releasable connection of a medical or dental handpiece to a drive unit or to a supply tubing
A coupling device for releasably connecting a handpiece to another component. One of a first coupling element and a second coupling element, is designed as a coupling cavity, into which a coupling protrusion on the other coupling element can be inserted. A positioning element is disposed on the first coupling element or the second coupling element and can be inserted into a first recess on the other coupling element to position the two coupling elements in a defined angular position about their common axis. A light source disposed in a second recess on the first or second coupling element can be coupled to an optical fiber on the other coupling element. A transfer element disposed on the first or second coupling element and inserted into a third recess on the other coupling element is configured to transfer data, signals and/or energy between the first and second coupling elements.
Torque limiting dental tool holder
A torque limiting device for use with a dental drive tool including a housing defining a rotation axis and having a bore concentric with the rotation axis and a torque limiting insert. The housing has a recess for housing at least part of the torque limiting insert. The torque limiting insert includes a fixing region held within the housing and a spring region extending from the fixing region and including a locking catch protruding into the bore. The locking catch is aligned with the recess so it can be moved radially outwards into the recess in to a disengaged position. The locking catch is arranged to engage with the dental drive tool when the tool is introduced in the bore to transmit a torque applied to the housing and to deflect into the disengaged position against the force of the spring region when a predefined torque limit is reached.
