METHOD FOR POLISHING ARTIFICIAL TOOTH AND DEVICE FOR POLISHING ARTIFICIAL TOOTH
20180333238 · 2018-11-22 ·

An artificial tooth 30 to be polished is fixed at a tooth neck 32 side and rotated about a tooth axis 33. Abrasives, preferably elastic abrasives formed by kneading abrasive grains into or supporting abrasive grains on an elastic material, are ejected together with a compressed gas at an ejection pressure of from 0.1 MPa to 0.5 MPa onto an occlusal portion 31 side of the artificial tooth 30 while the artificial tooth 30 is being rotated. The abrasives are ejected at an inclination angle with respect to the tooth axis 33 of the artificial tooth 30 of from 0 to 90, and preferably from 15 to 75. Portions on the occlusal portion 31 and side surfaces 38 of the artificial tooth 30 are thereby polished at the same time by the abrasive sliding over these portions.

A dental burr for preparing tooth for fabrication may include a shank designed to engage with a dental handpiece; and a burr body extending from the shank. The burr body may have a lip distal from the shank, the lip defining an opening into a cavity within the burr body, the cavity being sized to accommodate a tooth; and an indented edge extending from an area of the burr body proximate to the lip to the lip, wherein an exterior surface of the indented edge, the lip, and an inner surface of the cavity be an abrasive surface. The burr body may also have at least one debris vent extending therethrough.

A water source having a flexible tube for discharging water is provided for use in conjunction with a micro-abrasive blasting device so that water may be dispensed onto or around or in close proximity with the distal end or tip of the discharge conduit of said device to generate a water mist for suppressing powder aeration when dental procedures such as abrasion or polishing procedures are being performed. The water source may be separate from or self-contained with the micro-abrasive blasting device. An overlay water nozzle may be used to position distal ends of the flexible tube and discharge conduit in close proximity with one another.

Positionable Delivery Device and Method

A cartridge for delivery of a material therefrom which has a corrugated portion to allow for bending/extending to be applied to the device from which a material to be deposited can be dispensed. The bendability and extendibility allow for greater efficiency in use and application of the material into cavities, pockets, and/or crevices where one needs to deposit the material.
