An endosseous dental implant assembly includes a dental implant including an abutment portion for connecting to a tooth crown and a hollow base portion defining a cavity therein, and a bio-supportive or biodegradable scaffold carried by the hollow base portion of the dental implant in the biomimetic approach. The abutment portion is formed integrally with the hollow base portion. The scaffold is impregnated with regenerative stem cells, growth factors, biomorphic proteins, or autogenous cells. In the osseointegrated approach, bone graft material can be carried to the extraction socket without a scaffold.

BIOCOMPATIBLE IMPLANTS MADE OF NANOSTRUCTURED TITANIUM WITH ANTIBACTERIAL PROPERTIES

A new titanium-based implant is disclosed, which is formed by a titanium coating manufactured with biomaterials with applications in osseous implantology. The nanotopographical characteristics of these implants inhibit bacterial adhesion and the formation of a bacterial biofilm on the surface, whilst simultaneously presenting suitable properties for the adhesion, stretching and proliferation of bone-forming cells. Moreover, the invention comprises a method for manufacturing the implant by means of oblique-incidence techniques and the use thereof in osseous implantology.

Implant pellets and methods for performing bone augmentation and preservation

Embodiments described herein are related to pellets that are placed within an extraction site that is in need of bone augmentation and preservation. The pellets are typically cylindrical in shape and comprise a material and a polymer coating. The goal of the pellets are to encourage sufficient new bone growth that jaw bone deterioration is prevented. The pellets create, arrange, and assemble an ideal growth environment for new bone growth to rapidly grow and preserve the original contours of an individual's jaw bone.

The implant includes a head portion having a non-rotational feature, a lowermost end opposing the head portion, and a threaded bottom portion for engaging bone between the head portion implant and the lowermost end. The implant further includes a nanocrystalline surface formed on at least a portion of the implant. The nanocrystalline surface includes discrete nanocrystals deposited on a roughened surface of the implant. The roughened surface includes at least one of a grit-blasted surface or an acid-etched surface. A portion of the roughened surface is exposed between at least some of the discrete nanocrystals such that the exposed roughened portion between the discrete nanocrystals is capable of contacting bone.

The method comprises the act of roughening at least a portion of the implant surface to produce a microscale roughened surface. The method further comprises the act of immersing the microscale roughened surface into a solution containing hydrogen peroxide and a basic solution to produce a nanoscale roughened surface consisting of nanopitting superimposed on the microscale roughened surface. The nanoscale roughened surface has a property that promotes osseointegration.

The present invention provides for a hybrid dental implant having a screw body with at least one external thread, which includes an upper portion with an open ceiling configured to receive one or more bone inducing agents and/or therapeutic agents, a middle portion having a hollow inner channel connected to side openings, and a lower portion with a closed floor. The bone inducing agents and/or therapeutic agents are introduced through the open ceiling into the hollow inner channel into the side openings, which enables the bone tissue ingrowth into the hollow inner channel and bone tissue outgrowth from the hollow inner channel to the surrounding bone. It also provides for a method of installing and using the hybrid dental implant thereof.
