Virtually designing a customized healing abutment
11020204 · 2021-06-01 · ·

A method of virtually designing a customized healing abutment and a drill guide for a patient, where the method includes: obtaining a CT scan including at least part of the patient's jaw bone; virtually placing at least one implant relative to the jaw bone of the CT scan, such that a planned implant placement is defined; virtually designing: a drill guide for guiding the surgical drilling of a bore for the implant into the patient's jaw bone at the planned implant placement; and a customized healing abutment configured for shaping the soft tissue according to a target profile when arranged in the implant; where the design of the drill guide and of the customized healing abutment is at least partly based on the CT scan and on the planned implant placement.

A method for creating a digital model of a denture for a patient, where the denture includes a gingival part and artificial teeth, includes obtaining digital models of artificial teeth representing the artificial teeth; obtaining a 3D scan comprising a digital representation of at least part of the patient's existing gingiva; digitally modeling a gingival part of the digital model of the denture using the 3D scan and the digital artificial teeth; digitally determining a first offset defining a first thickness of a first portion of the gingival part of the digital model of the denture that extends from the digital representation of the at least part of the patient's existing gingiva; and digitally determining a second offset defining a second thickness of a second portion of the gingival part of the digital model of the denture that extends from the digital artificial teeth.

Dental implant

A dental implant having a central longitudinal axis at a bone-entry portion thereof is provided. The dental implant includes a threaded elongate fixture, at the bone-entry portion of the dental implant, shaped and sized for insertion into a bone of a subject, and a non-threaded emergence collar coronal to the fixture and smoother than the fixture. The emergence collar has a non-circular cross-section at least in a plane that is at least 1 millimeter coronal to the fixture and that is perpendicular to the longitudinal axis, the emergence collar and the fixture being formed of, and adjacently disposed along, a single piece of metal. Other applications are also described.

Dental framework and prosthesis

A dental prosthesis and a process for design and manufacturing, incorporating a dental implant framework and veneering overlay that will be designed and manufactured simultaneously and permanently fixated to one another.

A system that includes a gingiva former, a final abutment, and a final implant replacement. The gingiva former includes connecting geometry for attachment to an implant, a customized edge, a tapered bottom portion, and a tapered top portion that includes a circumferential surface. The customized edge and the tapered bottom portion have respective shapes that correspond to a 3D data set of a region of the final abutment that includes and is below an edge of the final abutment. The circumferential surface and a longitudinal axis of the connecting geometry form an angle of inclination. The customized edge of the gingiva former either (i) corresponds to a gingival line of the final implant replacement or (ii) is at a distance from the gingival line of the final implant replacement such that the gingival line of the final implant replacement is above the edge of the gingiva former.

The present invention relates to an implant unit comprising: an artificial dental root including a plate portion having a first side surface and a second side surface extending along the horizontal extending direction of the alveolar bone and opposed to each other, and a base portion protruding from the first side surface at the upper end of the plate portion, penetrating through a surface of the alveolar bone, and being implanted into the alveolar bone; and at least more than one abutment formed on the upper end of the base portion.

Dental system for developing custom prostheses through scanning of coded members

A set of healing abutments includes a first healing abutment and a second healing abutment. The first healing abutment has an upper surface with a first code thereon. The first code is associated with a size of the first healing abutment. The second healing abutment has an upper surface with a second code thereon. The second code is associated with a size of the second healing abutment. The first healing abutment and the second healing abutment have the same size. The first code is different from the second code.

An implant (1) is designed to be fitted in a hole (2a) formed in jaw bone (2) and soft tissue (3). The implant comprises a portion (4b) to be placed against the upper edge of the jaw bone. Along most of its peripheral extent, the portion (4b) is provided with groves (9, 9) or recesses designed to stimulate bone movement and ingrowth (10) of bone. The bone ingrowth (10) forms a barrier against substantial or visible subsidence, around the portion, of the bone (2) with overlying soft tissue (3). The invention permits a good esthetic result and prevents bacteria from penetrating into the internal parts of the implant and of the hole.

Methods and devices for countering gingival effects in dental restoration

A dental restoration system including a dental prosthesis having an occlusal body having defined therein a cavity and having an outer profile; and a dental abutment having a main body with a gingival part for anchoring to an implant and an occlusal part shaped to fit within the cavity to support cementation of the dental prosthesis, wherein the occlusal part of the main body has an outer profile radially closer to the longitudinal center axis than an outer profile of the gingival part at the interface between the occlusal part and the gingival part, thereby defining a shoulder between the occlusal part and the gingival part. The radial width of the outer profile of the dental prosthesis where it meets the shoulder is the same as or smaller than the radial width of the outer profile of the gingival part at the shoulder.

A method of installing a dental prosthetic device includes securing a first guide member to an alveolar arch in a mouth of a patient. The first guide member is utilized to achieve a substantially planar bone surface along the alveolar arch. A second guide member is coupled with the first guide member. The second guide member is utilized to install one or more implants in the alveolar arch through substantially planar bone surface. A dental prosthetic is secured to the one or more implants. The dental prosthetic includes nanoceramic material.
