Custom dental attachment placement appliances and appliance manufacturing methods
A method of producing a custom dental anchor application appliance may be provided. The appliance may be for mounting one or more anchors to teeth of a patient. The appliance may be for use in orthodontic aligner treatment. The method may include forming a dental appliance. The forming may be done using a three-dimensional printing approach. The appliance may include a body. The body may include at least one anchor-locating area. The anchor-locating area may be shaped to conform to a mounting area on a surface of a tooth. The appliance may include a receiving structure. The receiving structure may be configured to removably support a dental anchor. The dental anchor may be of a predefined configuration in a fixed position and orientation relative to the body.
INTRA-ORAL 3-D FLUORESCENCE IMAGING
Method and apparatus embodiments can generate a volume fluorescence image of a tooth. Method and apparatus embodiments can project structured light patterns onto a tooth and generate a contour (volume) image of the tooth surface from acquired corresponding structured light projection images; then acquire one or more fluorescence images of the tooth generated under blue-UV illumination. A composite image that shows fluorescence image content mapped to the generated contour image can be transmitted, stored, modified and/or displayed.
Implant
An implant to retain facial or dental prostheses includes a bone-engaging portion, a transmucosal portion, and an abutment portion. The bone-engaging portion of the implant includes a longitudinally extending distal portion formed of a conformal microscale cell structure and, optionally, a non-biological coating. The transmucosal portion includes a plurality of micro holes. The abutment portion of the implant may be polished to a mirrored or super-mirrored finish.
SYSTEM FOR TREATMENT PLANNING ENVIRONMENTS
Systems for treatment planning environments are disclosed where a method of collaborating on a treatment plan for correcting one or more teeth of a subject may include digitally receiving intra-oral scan data of one or more teeth of the subject where the one or more teeth are in an initial position, synchronizing a virtual treatment planning environment between a first device of at least one practitioner and a second device of at least one technician, and displaying a pre-setup design of the intra-oral scan data within the treatment planning environment. The pre-setup design is revised based upon input received from the practitioner for correcting one or more malocclusions and one or more intermediate steps of the treatment plan is created from the initial position to a final position of the teeth within the treatment planning environment. The treatment plan may be finalized by the practitioner within the treatment planning environment
METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR DETERMINING OCCLUSAL CONTACTS BETWEEN TEETH OF A SUBJECT
A method and a system for determining occlusal contacts between lower teeth and upper teeth of a subject are provided. The method comprises: receiving a 3D model including a first portion and a second portion including points respectively representative of the lower teeth and the upper teeth; determining an occlusal plane associated with the second portion of the 3D model; determining, from each point of the first portion, respective distance values to the occlusal plane; and identifying, within the points of the first portion, based on the respective distance values, using a voxel grid, a set of occlusal points representative of at least some of the occlusal contacts between the lower teeth and the upper teeth.
Methods of designing and manufacturing customized dental prosthesis for periodontal or osseointegration and related systems
Methods of manufacturing dental prosthesis/implants each to replace a non-functional natural tooth positioned in a jawbone of a specific pre-identified patient are provided. An example method includes the steps of receiving imaging data such as x-ray image data and surface scan data of a dental anatomy and/or a physical impression of the dental anatomy of a specific preidentified patient. The steps can also include forming a three-dimensional virtual model of at least portions of a non-functional natural tooth positioned in the jawbone of the specific pre-identified patient based on the imaging and surface scan data, virtually designing a dental implant based upon the virtual model, exporting the data describing the designed dental implant to a manufacturing machine, and custom manufacturing the dental implant for the specific patient.
IMPRESSION REGISTRATION
Systems and methods for providing at least one fixture for use in an image guidance system for determining a registration coordinate mapping between a human jaw and a volumetric image of that jaw. The system includes one or more channeled trays and a moldable thermoplastic material for inserting into a channeled tray. The moldable thermoplastic material is hardenable into an impression part such that when mated to the at least a portion of the human jaw and held within the channel of the channeled tray, the impression part resists displacement relative to the human jaw. At least one channeled tray in the system includes a fiducial region detectable in the volumetric CT image in a fixed spatial relation relative to the coupling surface region and at least one channeled tray is pose-trackable by the image guidance system.
REDUCTION SPLINT FOR EDENTULOUS PATIENTS
An off-the-shelf oral splint that is operatively secured to the maxilla and mandible to assist in reduction and provide maintenance of reduction of maxillary and mandibular fractures in the edentulous or partially edentulous patient. The oral splint is fabricated into a plurality of standardized sizes. These sizes are determined by imaging a population of jaws, measuring dimensions thereof, manipulating (e.g., calculating the mean) these dimensions, and generating a size that is representative of a subset of that population. This can be done for all sizes that would represent individuals in that population. The splint itself is fabricated virtually by creating “U-shapes”, splitting them horizontally into halves, creating an evacuation channel, and generating a coupling mechanism to hold the halves together. The splint can then be printed or otherwise manufactured.
Deriving tooth condition information for populating digital dental charts
Disclosed are methods and digital tools for deriving tooth condition information for a patient's teeth, for populating a digital dental chart with derived tooth condition information, and for generating an electronic data record containing such information.
Methods of Designing and Fabricating Customized Dental Care for Particular Users
The various embodiments described herein include methods, devices, and systems for customizing dental care. In one aspect, personalized toothbrush devices are 3-D printed for a plurality of users. A 3-D dental model of a respective user's mouth is obtained, and a configuration for a mouthpiece of a respective personalized toothbrush device is determined. The respective personalized toothbrush device is 3-D printed, and includes a top cleaning tray, a bottom cleaning tray, and a set of cleaning elements, each customized based at least in part on the 3-D dental model of the respective user's mouth. Each personalized toothbrush device is 3-D printed for each respective user of the plurality of users, and is different from every other user's personalized toothbrush device.
