Self-cleaning suction device
10271932 · 2019-04-30 ·

A self-cleaning suction device has a user's suction end that self-sanitizes externally and internally before and after use, as well as self-sanitizes internally during use. A cover opens to reveal the user's suction end within a containment unit. As the cover opens, the suction end travels from a lower chamber, proceeds through a middle chamber of a sanitizing agent, and is presented for use. After suction is complete, the suction end retracts through an upper chamber with, a scraping feature that removes debris from the outer surface of the mouthpiece, and proceeds down through the middle chamber of a sanitizing agent and a scraping feature that removes debris and the sanitizing agent from the outer surface of the user's suction end. Upon the sealing closure of the cover, the upper and middle chambers are flushed with a sanitizing agent, which is suctioned away along with any collected debris. The user's suction end resides within a lower chamber and can be decontaminated by a UV-C light entering into the lower chamber and/or corresponding chambers. The suction device can also include a liquid-hydration delivery system.

ORAL SUCTION DEVICE

An oral suction device provides an oral suction screen over the oral cavity of a patient by providing upper and lower suction wings attached to a manifold. The wings are inserted between the upper and lower lips and arches of a patient, respectively, and serve to capture aerosols which would otherwise be ejected from the oral cavity. A tongue/cheek retractor, also in pneumatic communication with the manifold, serves to extract saliva and other products from the oral cavity while also preventing the tongue and cheeks from ingress of the workspace for the dental procedure.

An oral cavity suction device comprising a vacuum hose and a vacuum tip including a tube body having a base end and a distal end that is a suction opening. The oral cavity suction device includes a hose-side light-outputting end face in the vacuum hose arranged to face the distal end side of the vacuum hose to output light input from a light source. The oral cavity suction device includes a light guiding element in the vacuum tip, with a tip-side light-receiving end face arranged to face the base end side of the vacuum tip to guide light input from the tip-side light-receiving end face and project the light. The hose-side light-outputting end face and the tip-side light-receiving end face allow light to be transmitted in a state in which the vacuum tip is completely connected to the vacuum hose.

Vacuum light apparatus

A vacuum light apparatus is configured with a light source that illuminates a light pipe forming a light pipe conduit configured to draw vacuum therethrough. The vacuum light apparatus has a light switch to turn the light source on and off, dim up and down and a vacuum actuator to adjust the amount of vacuum on the projection end of the light pipe. The light source may receive power from a battery, or from a power cable. The power cable may be detachably attached to the vacuum light apparatus, such as to the body. An exemplary vacuum light apparatus may be used for dental applications to provide illumination in an oral cavity or mouth while providing suction to draw away saliva, other fluids and particles from the procedure.
