10775107 · 2020-09-15 · ·

Disclosed is a technology based upon the nesting of tubes to provide chemical reactors or chemical reactors with built in heat exchanger. As a chemical reactor, the technology provides the ability to manage the temperature within a process flow for improved performance, control the location of reactions for corrosion control, or implement multiple process steps within the same piece of equipment. As a chemical reactor with built in heat exchanger, the technology can provide large surface areas per unit volume and large heat transfer coefficients. The technology can recover the thermal energy from the product flow to heat the reactant flow to the reactant temperature, significantly reducing the energy needs for accomplishment of a process.

HYDROGEN GENERATOR

A hydrogen generator having a reforming catalyst that causes hydrocarbon gas and steam to carry out a reforming reaction and reform into a hydrogen rich reformed gas, a reformer that is filled with said reforming catalyst and in which said reforming reaction is carried out, and a combustion chamber for combusting a fuel gas and obtaining reaction heat that is applied to said reforming reaction. At least the reforming region carrying out the reforming reaction is disposed inside the combustion chamber. A steam generator that introduces steam into the reformer is provided outside the combustion chamber.

The present invention relates to reactor tubes packed with a catalyst system employed to deliberately bias process gas flow toward the hot tube segment and away from the cold segment in order to reduce the circumferential tube temperature variation.

PROCESSES FOR RECOVERING LPG FROM A REFORMING-ZONE EFFLUENT

Embodiments of apparatuses and methods for reforming of hydrocarbons including recovery of products are provided. In one example, a method comprises separating a reforming-zone effluent into a net gas phase stream and a liquid phase hydrocarbon stream. The net gas phase stream is separated for forming an H.sub.2-rich stream and a first liquid phase hydrocarbon stream. The H.sub.2-rich stream may be contacted with an adsorbent to form an H.sub.2-ultra rich stream and a gas stream. C.sub.3/C.sub.4 hydrocarbons are absorbed from the gas stream with the liquid phase hydrocarbon stream. The gas stream may be contacted with an H.sub.2/hydrocarbon separation membrane to separate the PSA tail gas stream and form an H.sub.2-rich permeate stream and an H.sub.2 depleted non-permeate residue stream.

Apparatus for endothermic process with improved tubes arrangement

A furnace for performing an endothermic process, comprising tubes containing a catalyst for converting a gaseous feed, wherein tubes are positioned in rows inside the furnace, wherein burners are mounted between the tubes and between the tubes and the furnace walls parallel to the tubes rows, and wherein the burners rows and the tubes rows are ended by end walls and are divided into sections with, on each row of tubes, the distance from a wall end tube to the end wall being T2W, the distance between two adjacent inner tubes in a section being T2T, and the distance between two symmetry end tubes of two adjacent sections being T2S, wherein the tubes in the rows are arranged in such a way that the ratios T2T/T2W and T2T/T2S are greater than 0.5 and smaller than 2 thus limiting the differences in the heat transfer to the outer tubes (wall end tubes and symmetry end tubes) with respect to the inner tubes and reducing the temperature difference between outer tubes and inner tubes.

Tail gas heating within PSA surge tank

The present invention relates to a method of improving the efficiency of an integrated hydrogen generation system by the introduction of a means to heat the PSA tail gas within the PSA surge tank.

A method of installing a temperature measuring device inside a reactor tube while filling the tube with catalyst is provided. The method includes inserting a positioning system, including multiple inflatable bladders connected at a central location to a centering ring, into reactor tube, the reactor tube comprising a distal end and a proximal end. Then inserting a temperature measurement device into the centering ring. Locating the positioning system at a first predetermined distance from the distal end. Then inflating the multiple inflatable bladders, thereby centering the centering ring and the temperature measurement device within the SMR tube, and introducing catalyst into the SMR tube, thereby enclosing the temperature measurement device in catalyst.
