An edentulous mouth insert appliance for mounting upon the edentulous gum of a patient, comprises a u-shaped frame formed of a rigid flexible material, with a portion to embrace the gum and a portion extending beyond the gum with an exposed surface to replicate a bite aligned with the corresponding occlusal plane. The frame has a base supporting a pair of inner and outer side walls spaced apart by the base a distance allowing the frame to encircle and cover the edentulous gum with a space between inner surfaces of the frame and the gum. A fill within the frame fills the space between the frame and the gum upon which the appliance is fitted, providing a void-free seal between the apparatus and the gum.

A method of enhancing absorption of a therapeutic agent sublingually in a person configured to treat chronic graft-versus-host disease (cGVHD) or aphthous stomatitis. The method includes administering a therapeutically effective amount of the therapeutic agent sublingually in a person and then inserting for a predetermined treatment period a device in an oral cavity of the person, wherein the device comprising an oral retention portion that is configured to be retained in the oral cavity from the predetermined treatment period and further configured to enhance absorption of the therapeutic agent sublingually.

A device to deliver an oral care substance to a tooth surface or a gingival tissue surface includes a body and an oral care substance. The body is orally acceptable and malleable, including beeswax and having a first surface configured to be applied to the tooth surface and/or the adjoining gingival tissue surface. The first surface is configured to adhere to the tooth surface and/or the adjoining gingival tissue surface. The oral care substance is deposited on the first surface and/or impregnated into the body, the substance being configured to contact the tooth surface and/or the adjoining gingival tissue surface.

This disclosure relates to oral care mouthpieces and methods of forming oral care mouthpieces. A disclosed oral care mouthpiece includes a base shaped to a dental arch. The base elastically deforms in response to pressure variations in the mouthpiece, The mouthpiece also includes a set of one or more supports attached to the base and placed to allow the base to elastically deform in response to the pressure variations in the mouthpiece. The mouthpiece also includes a set of oral care elements attached to the set of one or more supports and placed to transmit pressure to the dental arch when the base elastically deforms in response to the pressure variations in the mouthpiece.
