Method for producing hydrophobic heat insulation material
Process for producing a thermally insulating mixture comprising hydrophobic silica, in which a) a pulverulent carrier material selected from the group consisting of precipitated silicas, SiO.sub.2 aerogels, pearlites and mixtures thereof is coated with a liquid silicon compound, where the liquid silicon compound has at least one alkyl group and a boiling point of less than 200° C., and b) the pulverulent carrier material that has thus been coated with the liquid silicon compound is mixed with a composition comprising a pulverulent hydrophilic fumed silica and the mixture is subjected to thermal treatment at more than 40° C. and c) any unreacted silicon compound is subsequently removed from the thermally treated mixture, thus giving the thermally insulating mixture comprising hydrophobic silica.

Aerated fiber cement building products and methods of making the same
Disclosed herein are low density fiber cement articles, such as fiber cement building panels and sheets, comprised of multiple overlaying fiber cement substrate layers having small and uniform entrained air pockets and low density fillers distributed throughout. The combination of entrained air pockets and low density fillers provide a low density fiber cement matrix with physical and mechanical properties similar to comparable low density fiber cement matrix without entrained air pockets.

Low density inorganic powder insulator using expanded perlite, method for manufacturing same and mold machine for manufacturing same
The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing a low density inorganic powder insulator having a low density molded structure using expanded perlite without a binder and a mold machine for manufacturing the same, and more particularly, to a technology of uniformly dispersing perlite particles having a shape of irregular fragments of glass using expanded perlite to form a framework among synthetic silica to improve molding strength even at a low density, thereby reducing thermal conductivity (conduction and convection blocking) due to a low density and an increase in a specific surface area. Further, the present invention relates to a method for manufacturing a low density inorganic powder insulator having a molded structure using economical expanded perlite having excellent physical properties by compression-molding a clad sheet material using a mold machine having a porous plate and a filter so as to remove pressure and air, which are generated during compression due to the use of the clad sheet material having low specific gravity and a large specific surface area, from a molded product or manufacturing the clad sheet material into a compressed clad sheet using a compression roller, and a mold machine for manufacturing the same.

GYPSUM BASED COMPOSITIONS AND PROCESSES FOR MAKING AND USING SAME
Gypsum based compositions, processes for making same, and articles made therefrom. In one example, the gypsum based composition can include about 1.5 wt % to about 3 wt % of a starch, about 11 wt % to about 14 wt % of a paper, about 0.7 wt % to about 2.3 wt % of vermiculite, about 1.3 wt % to about 3 wt % of a plurality of reinforcing fibers, about 7 wt % to about 10 wt % of a binding agent, about 2 wt % to about 4 wt % of perlite, and about 65 wt % to about 75 wt % of a calcium sulfate, where all weight percent values are based on a combined weight of the starch, paper, vermiculite, plurality of reinforcing fibers, binding agent, perlite, and calcium sulfate.
