METHODS OF FORMING POLYCRYSTALLINE COMPACTS
Polycrystalline compacts include a polycrystalline superabrasive material comprising a first plurality of grains of superabrasive material having a first average grain size and a second plurality of grains of superabrasive material having a second average grain size smaller than the first average grain size. The first plurality of grains is dispersed within a substantially continuous matrix of the second plurality of grains. Earth-boring tools may include a body and at least one polycrystalline compact attached thereto. Methods of forming polycrystalline compacts may include coating relatively larger grains of superabrasive material with relatively smaller grains of superabrasive material, forming a green structure comprising the coated grains, and sintering the green structure. Other methods include mixing diamond grains with a catalyst and subjecting the mixture to a pressure greater than about five gigapascals (5.0 GPa) and a temperature greater than about 1,300° C. to form a polycrystalline diamond compact.

The content of B in the ferrite sintered magnet is from 0.1% to 0.6% by mass in terms of B.sub.2O.sub.3.

According to the present invention, there are provided ferrite particles for bonded magnets and a resin composition for bonded magnets which are capable of producing a bonded magnet molded product having a good tensile elongation and exhibiting excellent magnetic properties, as well as a bonded magnet molded product such as a rotor which is obtained by using the resin composition. The present invention relates to ferrite particles for bonded magnets having a bulk density of not less than 0.5 g/cm.sup.3 and less than 0.6 g/cm.sup.3 and a degree of compaction of not less than 65%, a resin composition for bonded magnets using the ferrite particles, and a molded product obtained by using the ferrite particles and the resin composition.

The invention relates to a scintillation material of rare earth orthosilicate doped with a strong electron-affinitive element and its preparation method and application thereof. The chemical formula of the scintillation material of rare earth orthosilicate doped with the strong electron-affinitive element is: RE.sub.2(1−x−y+δ/2)Ce.sub.2xM.sub.(2y−δ)Si.sub.(1−δ)M.sub.δO.sub.5. In the formula, RE is rare earth ions and M is strong electron-affinitive doping elements; the value of x is 0<x≤0.05, the value of y is 0<y≤0.015, and the value of δ is 0≤δ≤10−4; and M is selected from at least one of tungsten, lead, molybdenum, tellurium, antimony, bismuth, mercury, silver, nickel, indium, thallium, niobium, titanium, tantalum, tin, cadmium, technetium, zirconium, rhenium, and gallium Ga.

GARNET MATERIALS FOR LI SECONDARY BATTERIES AND METHODS OF MAKING AND USING GARNET MATERIALS
Set forth herein are garnet material compositions, e.g., lithium-stuffed garnets and lithium-stuffed garnets doped with alumina, which are suitable for use as electrolytes and catholytes in solid state battery applications. Also set forth herein are lithium-stuffed garnet thin films having fine grains therein. Disclosed herein are novel and inventive methods of making and using lithium-stuffed garnets as catholytes, electrolytes and/or anolytes for all solid state lithium rechargeable batteries. Also disclosed herein are novel electrochemical devices which incorporate these garnet catholytes, electrolytes and/or anolytes. Also set forth herein are methods for preparing novel structures, including dense thin (<50 um) free standing membranes of an ionically conducting material for use as a catholyte, electrolyte, and, or, anolyte, in an electrochemical device, a battery component (positive or negative electrode materials), or a complete solid state electrochemical energy storage device. Also, the methods set forth herein disclose novel sintering techniques, e.g., for heating and/or field assisted (FAST) sintering, for solid state energy storage devices and the components thereof.

A solid electrolyte layer includes a solid electrolyte and a compound represented by a composition formula M.sub.xZr.sub.2(PO.sub.4).sub.y.
