Method for preparing composite materials with an oxide matrix and oxide reinforcements by means of a calefaction process
Method for the preparation, by means of a heating technique, of a composite material composed of a matrix of at least a first oxide of at least one metal and/or at least one metalloid reinforced by reinforcements in at least a second oxide of at least one metal and/or at least one metalloid, characterised in that the following successive steps are carried out: the reinforcements are placed in at least one liquid precursor of the first oxide of at least one metal and/or at least one metalloid; said reinforcements and the liquid precursor are heated so as to form the first oxide by means of the thermal decomposition of said liquid precursor, and to deposit the first oxide thus formed around the reinforcements and between the reinforcements thus forming the matrix.
DIELECTRIC FOR A CAPACITOR AND A METHOD OF MANUFACTURING SAME
A method of manufacturing a dielectric for a capacitor and a dielectric for a capacitor manufactured thereby are provided. A dielectric for a capacitor is prepared by calcining a precursor mixture containing lead, lanthanum, zirconium, and titanium to produce calcined powder, adding additives including sodium, potassium, and the like to the powder, and sintering the mixture at a low temperature, whereby the dielectric has a high density and a large dielectric constant.
Garnet materials for Li secondary batteries and methods of making and using garnet materials
Set forth herein are garnet material compositions, e.g., lithium-stuffed garnets and lithium-stuffed garnets doped with alumina, which are suitable for use as electrolytes and catholytes in solid state battery applications. Also set forth herein are lithium-stuffed garnet thin films having fine grains therein. Disclosed herein are novel and inventive methods of making and using lithium-stuffed garnets as catholytes, electrolytes and/or anolytes for all solid state lithium rechargeable batteries. Also disclosed herein are novel electrochemical devices which incorporate these garnet catholytes, electrolytes and/or anolytes. Also set forth herein are methods for preparing novel structures, including dense thin (<50 um) free standing membranes of an ionically conducting material for use as a catholyte, electrolyte, and, or, anolyte, in an electrochemical device, a battery component (positive or negative electrode materials), or a complete solid state electrochemical energy storage device. Also, the methods set forth herein disclose novel sintering techniques, e.g., for heating and/or field assisted (FAST) sintering, for solid state energy storage devices and the components thereof.
Method for Manufacturing Transparent Ceramic Materials
An exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure provides a method for manufacturing a transparent ceramic material. The method comprises providing a compact comprising a metal oxide and, during sintering, exposing the compact to a vapor comprising one of or both fluorine ions and lithium ions to form a transparent ceramic material comprising at least 90% of a theoretical transparency.
Abrasive particles, method of making abrasive particles, and abrasive articles
Shaped ceramic abrasive particles include a first surface having a perimeter having a perimeter comprising at least first and second edges. A first region of the perimeter includes the second edge and extends inwardly and terminates at two corners defining first and second acute interior angles. The perimeter has at most four corners that define acute interior angles. A second surface is disposed opposite, and not contacting, the first surface. A peripheral surface is disposed between and connects the first and second surfaces. The peripheral surface has a first predetermined shape. Methods of making the shaped ceramic abrasive particles, and abrasive articles including them are also disclosed.
Lithium-stuffed garnet thin films and pellets having an oxyfluorinated and/or fluorinated surface and methods of making and using the thin films and pellets
Set forth herein are processes for making lithium-stuffed garnet oxides (e.g., Li.sub.7La.sub.3Zr.sub.2O.sub.12, also known as LLZO) that have passivated surfaces comprising a fluorinate and/or an oxyfluorinate species. These surfaces resist the formation of oxides, carbonates, hydroxides, peroxides, and organics that spontaneously form on LLZO surfaces under ambient conditions. Also set forth herein are new materials made by these processes.

An oxide ion conductor has a X.sub.3Z.sub.2(TO.sub.4).sub.3 structure, where X is a divalent metal element, Z is a trivalent metal element, and T is a tetravalent metal element, and has a composition expressed by (X.sub.1-xA.sub.x).sub.3(Z.sub.1-yB.sub.y).sub.2(T.sub.1-zC.sub.z).sub.3O.sub.12+δ where the element X is Ca, Fe, Gd, Ba, Sr, Mn, and/or Mg, the element Z is Al, Cr, Fe, Mn, V, Ga, Co, Ni, Ru, Rh, and/or Ir, the element T is Si and/or Ge, an element A is La, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb, Lu, and/or Sr, an element B is Zn, Mn, Co, Ru, and/or Rh, and an element C is Si, Al, Ga, and/or Sn, 0≤x≤0.2, 0≤y≤0.2, and 0≤z≤0.2 are satisfied, and δ is a value securing electrical neutrality.
Grain-oriented electrical steel sheet, annealing separator, and method for manufacturing grain-oriented electrical steel sheet
Grain-oriented electrical steel sheet excellent in magnetic properties and excellent in adhesion of a primary coating to a base steel sheet, an annealing separator utilized for manufacture of grain-oriented electrical steel sheet, and a method for manufacturing grain-oriented electrical steel sheet are proposed. The grain-oriented electrical steel sheet is provided with a base metal steel sheet containing comprising a predetermined chemical composition and a primary coating formed on a surface of the base steel sheet and comprising Mg.sub.2SiO.sub.4 as a main constituent. The primary coating satisfies the conditions of (1) the number density D3 of the Al concentrated region: 0.020 to 0.180/μm.sup.2, (2) (total area S5 of regions which is anchoring oxide layer regions and is also Al concentrated regions)/(total area S3 of Al concentrated regions)≥33%, (3) distance H5 of mean value of length in thickness direction of regions which is anchoring oxide layer regions and is also Al concentrated regions minus H0: 0.4 to 4.0 μm, (4) (total area S1 of anchoring oxide layer regions)/(observed area S0)≥15%.

A ceramic powder material containing: a first garnet-type compound containing Li, La, and Zr; and a second garnet-type compound containing Li, La, and Zr and having a composition different from a composition of the first garnet-type compound, in which the first garnet-type compound and the second garnet-type compound are represented by Formula [1] Li.sub.7-(3x+y)M1.sub.xLa.sub.3Zr.sub.2-yM2.sub.yO.sub.12, where M1 is Al or Ga, M2 is Nb or Ta, the first garnet-type compound satisfies 0≤(3x+y)≤0.5, and the second garnet-type compound satisfies 0.5<(3x+y)≤1.5.
