BIOMEDICAL FINGER ASSEMBLY FOR USE WITH CAPACITIVE PANELS

A prosthetic digit usable with capacitive panels is provided. The digit includes at least one conductive layer surrounding the body of the digit, and a non-conductive sealing layer around the conductive layer preventing direct external contact of the conductive layer with the capacitive panel. The digit may have a conductive tip pad to create a series capacitive pathway between the conductive layer of the body and the electrodes of the capacitive panel. Using the digit with a capacitive panel does not require a direct conductive pathway, e.g., a pathway between the capacitive panel and the structure of the device, the user's skin, or metallic sink.

UPPER EXTREMITY PROSTHETIC WITH ENERGY RETURN SYSTEM
20220117760 · 2022-04-21 ·

An upper-extremity prosthetic is adapted to engage with an athletic ball. The prosthetic includes one or more springs that provide energy return as a user is throwing the ball using the prosthetic. The springs can have a conductivity that changes in relation to an amount of strain or deformation of the spring. The change in conductivity can be used to provide haptic feedback to the user so the user can sense the amount of force being applied to throw the ball. In some embodiments, the springs are made by a multi-material 3D printing (additive manufacturing) process and include a first material that is electrically non-conductive and a second material that electrically conductive. In some embodiments, the prosthetic also includes one or more cantilevered springs that are also adapted to engage with the ball and to provide energy return while throwing the ball.

Adaptor for laminated stump socket of prosthetic limb
11266515 · 2022-03-08 ·

A method of forming a stump socket is disclosed. The method includes obtaining a stump casting, obtaining a socket adaptor, positioning the socket adaptor on a distal end of the stump casting, and applying a binder material to encapsulate the socket adaptor. A socket adaptor may have a main body and multiple flanges. Each of the flanges may have a proximal end and a distal end. The proximal end may pivotably connect to the main body. Accordingly, pivoting of the flanges with respect to the main body may enable the socket adaptor to better and more easily conform to the stump casting.

The walking canister system and method are for manufacturing a prosthetic socket. The system includes a rigid canister, a suspension bladder positioned within the rigid canister, and an outer chamber wicking material arranged in an outer chamber defined between the suspension bladder and the rigid canister. A foam insert includes a contoured exterior surface configured to transfer pressure through to an interior surface thereof to produce consistent surface contact with a residual limb, of a walking patient, having casting material thereon. An inner chamber wicking material is arranged in an inner chamber defined between the foam insert and the suspension bladder. An outer chamber vacuum port is in fluid communication with the outer chamber, and an inner chamber vacuum port is in fluid communication with the inner chamber. An outer chamber suspension sleeve is configured to extend from the residual limb and over the rigid canister.

MEASUREMENT AND ORDERING SYSTEM FOR ORTHOTIC DEVICES

A system for electronically capturing a subject's anatomy. Software programming directs the user to position the camera to recognize the anatomy. It uses anatomical features of the recognized subject's anatomy, patient data entered by the user and anthropometric data to estimate the optimal position of virtual markers. Furthermore, it places the virtual markers on an image presented to the user on the display screen at the estimated optimal position, while utilizing an auto-zoom and the virtual markers to zoom in to provide proper framing. The auto-zoom is utilized while maintaining a substantially fixed camera distance from the subject. The programming provides feedback based on the anatomical features for directing the user to move the camera appropriately relative to the virtual markers, thereby resulting in an optimized view of the anatomical information. The end-user software program captures the optimized view of the anatomical information via the camera to provide output data.

Liner for a prosthesis
11096805 · 2021-08-24 · ·

A liner for a prosthesis, wherein the liner is made of a liner material and comprises a proximal opening for accommodating an amputation stump, a distal end, a longitudinal direction, which extends from the proximal opening to the distal end, and an auxetic material The auxetic material is a two-dimensional-auxetic material, which is arranged in such a way that an extension of the liner in the longitudinal direction leads to an expansion of a diameter of the liner.

LIGHTWEIGHT PROSTHETIC FOOT
20210228384 · 2021-07-29 ·

A prosthetic foot (200) that does not require metallic connectors to attach carbon fiber leaf springs (201) and (202) is provided. The carbon fiber leaf springs (201) and (202) are attached together by three-dimensionally stitching prepreg preforms of the carbon fiber leaf springs (201) and (202) at the junction (203) of the carbon fiber leaf springs (201) and (202), and then further curing the stitch attached prepreg preforms. In another embodiment, a woven interlayer attached the two carbon fiber leaf springs (201) and (202).
