Method and apparatus for monitoring the ingestion of food and/or drink by a subject
There is provided an apparatus for monitoring the ingestion of food and/or drink by a subject, the apparatus comprising a control unit that comprises a first obtaining module configured to obtain measurements of one or more physiological characteristics of the subject; a second obtaining module configured to obtain measurements of eddy currents generated in the body of the subject by an externally-applied magnetic field; a setting module configured to set a respective cut-off frequency for one or more filtering stages based on a respective frequency for each of said one or more physiological characteristics; a filtering module configured to filter the measurements of eddy currents using the one or more filtering stages to remove signal components due to the one or more physiological characteristics; and a processing module configured to process the filtered measurements to determine whether food and/or drink is present in the stomach of the subject.
Method and apparatus for enhanced visualization during endoscopy
A method and apparatus for improving adenoma detection, including applying compression to the abdomen of a patient and maintaining compression of the abdomen of the patient during withdrawal of an endoscope. The compression may be applied by wrapping a band of elastic material around the abdomen of a patient and connecting one end of the band to another portion of the band to maintain tension in the band in order to apply compression to the abdomen of the patient. Aspects may also include tensioning the band prior to connecting the one end of the band to the another portion of the band to apply a desired degree of pressure to the patient's abdomen through contraction of the band across at least a portion of the patient's abdomen.
Method and apparatus for tensile colonoscopy compression
A method and apparatus for applying pressure to the abdomen of a patient to facilitate the insertion of a colonoscope is characterized by the use of a tensile compression device in the form of an elastic band which is wrapped around the patient's abdomen and secured in place. The tension of the band is adjusted to apply a desired degree of pressure to the patient's abdomen to reduce loops in the patient's colon so that the colonoscope can be fully inserted into the colon with minimal discomfort to the patient. The ends of the device are connected together when the desired degree of tension is obtained so that constant pressure and support are provided to the patient's colon. Addition pressure can be manually applied simultaneously with the pressure from the tensile device to reduce or eliminate more distal loops in the colon.
Device for the External Application of a Local Compressive Force Below the Costal Arch of a Patient to Reduce the Stomach Volume
A device (10) for externally applying a local compressive force below the costal arch (R) of a patient for reducing the stomach volume, comprisingan elastic belt (10) that is placeable, under tensile stress, around the upper body of a patient in the area of the costal arch (R), anda pressure body (24) that is attachable to the elastic belt (12) and designed in such a way that the pressure body exerts a compressive force on the stomach inside the patient according to the tensile stress of the elastic belt (12), wherein the geometry of the pressure body (24) is adapted to the anatomy of the human costal arch and fits snugly therein.
Endoscopy band with sigmoid support apparatus
An endoscopy sigmoid support apparatus that includes a primary wrap sized for placement around a subject's lower abdomen. A closing mechanism is provided at the end of the primary wrap to secure the primary wrap around the abdomen of the subject by attaching a first end of the primary wrap to a second portion of the primary wrap. A strap extends from the primary wrap and is configured to extend across at least a portion of the primary wrap and to fasten to a third portion of the primary wrap to adjust the amount of pressure applied by the endoscopy sigmoid support apparatus.
Pants with Weight Loss Wrap
The present disclosure reveals pants with an attached wrap for weight loss and toning one's body. The wrap being comprised of an elastic material that is either impermeable or permeable with pores, wherein the permeable material would allow air to pass through the pores and water, sweat, or other material to pass through or be absorbed into the pores. The wrap may further comprise an absorbent band to absorb sweat.
Suprapubic region compression assembly and method
A suprapubic region compression assembly and method are disclosed for applying pressure to a user's suprapubic region thereby increasing the measurable, visible, or usable length of the user's penis. The suprapubic region compression assembly includes a compression plate, a notch, and a belt. The suprapubic region compression assembly has many advantageous features which provide performance, cost, comfort, and other features desired by consumers to increase the measurable, visible, or usable length of the penis.
Weight Reduction System and Method
An apparatus for applying a portion of a plant product to the epidermis of a human, the apparatus adapted to be removably fastened with a belt or strap to a human body, comprising: the belt or strap; at least one pocket or container adapted to removably receive the portion of the plant product, the at least one pocket or container comprising: a contact portion that contacts the human body, when the apparatus is removably fastened to the human body, an opposing portion, opposing the contact portion, the opposing portion adapted to allow the portion of the plant product to be removably inserted into the at least one pocket or container, the contact portion having a plurality of holes, the plurality of holes allowing the portion of the plant product to contact the epidermis, when the plant product is removably inserted into the at least one pocket or container.
Systems and methods for magnetically positioning a gastric device
A minimally invasive system and method for providing weight loss by inducing the feeling of satiety whereby an intragastric device is inserted into the gastric lumen via the esophagus and an external magnetic device is used as needed to magnetically attract the intragastric device towards the inner wall of the stomach and impart tactile stimulation sufficient to induce the feeling of satiety.
