MEDICAL DEVICE AND METHOD FOR ASSESSING AND REHABILITATING A JOINT
A medical device for assessing and/or rehabilitating a human joint of an extremity includes a joint brace comprising a first support for coupling to an upper part of the extremity, a second support for coupling to a lower part of the extremity, and a rotatable joint connecting the first and second supports, and a mechanical device coupled to the first and second supports, the mechanical device configured for moving one or more of the first and second supports so as to rotate about the joint. In another alternative the medical device can include sensors located for making angle measurements between the first and second supports and for recording movement data and a computing device for receiving and storing the angle measurements and the movement data and for transmitting said data via a radio transmitter.
Hinge for orthopedic device
A hinge has a hinge body forming an articulating section extending between a first end and a second end of the hinge. The articulating section is adapted to bend from a neutral axis when the first and second ends are parallel to an angular range in which the first end is arranged among a plurality of angles within the angular range relative to the second end. The hinge body may define a receptacle along the articulating section, and an insert may be provided for insertion into the receptacle. The insert can modify the stiffness of the hinge in the angular range and is arranged parallel to the neutral axis.
Orthopedic and orthotic brace and hinge assembly with custom-selectable range-controlling hinge stops
A brace incorporates an elongated strut having rigid hinge bars interconnected by an adjustable dual-axis ROM hinge. An exchangeable hinge stop is removably positioned within the ROM hinge, and designed to engage the hinge bars at a predetermined flexion/extension limit, thereby restricting pivoting movement of the strut and custom limiting a range of extension or flexion of the body part. A stop retention post cooperates with a flex member to hold the hinge stop in position relative to the first and second hinge bars. Lifting the flex member outwardly away from the hinge plate allows the hinge stop to be removed from the ROM hinge and exchanged.
Shoulder Brace Device
A shoulder brace device includes: a torso band, an arm band, and a brace mechanism, such that the brace mechanism is configured to connect to the torso band and the arm band; wherein the brace mechanism includes a ball joint assembly, such that the shoulder brace device enables free range of movement; wherein the brace mechanism can be locked in place or tightened for reduced range of movement.
Orthotic device with snap fit cuff and latch mechanism
An orthotic device including a frame assembly and a support structure. The frame assembly includes at least one frame having a first frame opening and a second frame opening. The support structure assembly includes at least one support structure supported by the at least one frame. The at least one support structure includes a mounting portion; a slide engagement member supported by the mounting portion configured to engage the first frame opening; and, at least one snap engagement member supported by the mounting portion configured to engage the second frame opening. The slide engagement member and the at least one snap engagement member are integrally formed with the mounting portion. In another embodiment the orthotic device includes a latch mechanism including a lever assembly, a draw bar, a chafe, a catch, and a first snap fit ledge.
REHABILITATION DEVICE TO CORRECT POSTURE
A device and corresponding method to position a patient’s shoulders and hips into a proper posture alignment for neuromuscular re-education and rehabilitation is disclosed. The device may include a base for supporting a back of a patient, the base extending along a length in a longitudinal direction and a width in a lateral direction substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal direction. The device may include a first adjustable pad and a second adjustable pad opposite the first adjustable pad, and each of the first and second adjustable pads may be configured to independently move towards and away from the base in a vertical direction thereby urging respective shoulders of the patient against the base. The device may further include an adjustable strap configured to surround the waist and/or hips of the patient and thereby urge the patient against the base.
Devices, systems and methods for using and monitoring orthopedic hardware
Orthopedic device or implants are provided, comprising an orthopedic device or implant and a sensor.
BRACE HAVING AN INFLATION CONTROL
Systems, methods, and devices are described for providing a brace having an inflation control. The control directs fluid flow from an inflation component to one or more inflatable cells of the brace. The inflatable cells are independently inflated and deflated by the inflation component through the control. The control allows a user to create a fluid path between the inflation component and one of the inflatable cells by positioning the control in an orientation corresponding to the desired inflatable cells. Each inflatable cell is independently inflated and deflated in various orientations of the control.
PRODUCT FOR GENERATING A THREE-DIMENSIONAL SHAPE AND ITS USE IN THE FABRICATION OF CUSTOM ORTHOSIS
The invention provides an apparatus for use in determining the three-dimensional shape of an object, which apparatus comprises: an article, comprising a stretchable material, and a plurality of strain sensors positioned in contact with the material such that stretching of the material is detectable by the sensors; a computing device operatively coupled to the article and configured to receive output data from the sensors and to process the data to determine the three dimensional shape of the object. The invention also provides a method for providing a customized orthotic product using the apparatus.
METHOD FOR CALCULATING A STIMULUS FOR THE CHANGE OF SHAPE OF A MEDICAL AID
The invention relates to a method for calculating a stimulus for the change of shape of a medical aid in order to change the position of the medical aid from an actual position to a final target state. In order to achieve optimized treatment for the patient, a method comprising the following steps is provided: Detecting the actual position of the body part to be corrected after a first correction step in a control unit, Comparing the actual position of the body part to be corrected with a target position that is stored in the control unit, If applicable, detecting, by the control unit, the deviation between the actual position and target position of the body part to be corrected, Calculating with the control unit the stimulus that has to act on the medical aid to perform a second correction step, taking into account the deviation between the actual state and target state of the body part to be corrected, wherein the effect of the stimulus on the medical aid is saved in the control unit.
The invention further relates to a control unit.
