AMBULATORY PROTECTIVE DEVICE
An ambulatory protective device is configured to be worn on a person’s foot who has a foot condition, such as a diabetic foot condition. The ambulatory protective device includes an insole which has viscoelastic inserts located and otherwise disposed relative to non-viscous polymeric foam strata to create zones or areas on the insole characterized by reduced force or contact pressure when subjected to forces from the foot during ambulation when the ambulatory protective device is worn. Such contact-pressure reducing areas are located in the heel area and the forefoot area of the device. The ambulatory protective device, equipped with such insole, may be in the form of a shoe, boot, brace, cast, or walker, such as a CAM walker.
EXTERNAL ANKLE BRACE
An external ankle brace for restricting movement of an ankle in a first direction and permitting movement of the ankle in a second direction includes a rigid heel enclosure having a rear portion and a forward portion. A lateral upright extension is perpendicular to the rigid heel enclosure and is attached to the lateral sidewall. A medial upright extension is perpendicular to the rigid heel enclosure and is attached to the medial sidewall. At least a chosen one of the lateral and medial upright extensions is selectively pivotally attached to a corresponding lateral or medial sidewall and includes a pivot prevention feature configured to selectively prevent pivoting of the chosen one of the lateral and medial upright extensions with respect to the corresponding lateral or medial sidewall.
Heel protector and corresponding rehabilitation systems and methods for using the same
A heel protector (100) includes a leg engaging section (101) and a foot engaging section (102) intersecting at a heel receiver (103). The leg engaging section (101) and the foot engaging section (102) define a leg insertion aperture (104). The leg engaging section (101) defines at least one aperture (203) disposed in an ankle region (205) to permit a connection tube (1002) extending from an inflatable bladder (901) of a compression device (800) to pass therethrough. The heel protector (100) and compression device (800) work together as a rehabilitation system (1300).
WALKING BOOT, CHAFE ASSEMBLY, PROTECTIVE RIM FOR A PUSH-BUTTON RELEASE VALVE AND RELATED METHODS
A walking brace is provided. The walking brace includes a U-shaped malleable stay configured to hold a manually-bent shape. The walking brace includes an integral portion. The integral portion includes a footbed, a first upright disposed at a first side of the footbed and a second upright disposed on a second side of the footbed. The integral portion is overmolded onto the U-shaped malleable stay such that the U-shaped malleable stay extends through each of the footbed, the first upright and the second upright. Other walking braces are provided wherein the integral portion includes a pocket configured to receive the U-shaped malleable stay at an underside of the integral portion such that the U-shaped malleable stay extends through each of the footbed, the first upright and the second upright. A method of manufacturing a walking brace is also provided.
ORTHOPEDIC WALKING BRACE HAVING A CURVED SOLE
Described herein are systems and devices for providing an orthopedic walking brace having a housing and a sole with a curved distal surface. The housing is configured to encompass and immobilize a patient's ankle against flexion. The distal surface of the sole has a posterior region, a mid region, and an anterior region. The posterior region is configured to lie under a heel portion of the patient's foot and has a first anterior-posterior (AP) curvature that increases from a posterior side of the posterior region toward a middle portion of the posterior region and decreases from the middle portion of the posterior region toward the mid region. The mid region is configured to lie under a center portion of the patient's foot. The anterior region is configured to lie under an anterior metatarsal and toe portion of the patient's foot and has a second AP curvature.
WEIGHTED ANKLE FOOT ORTHOSIS
in some implementations, an ankle foot orthosis (AFO) may include a brace configured to support an ankle and a foot. The brace may include a foot portion to house the foot and a leg portion, extending upward from the foot portion, to house a leg. The AFO may include a weight compartment formed on or affixed to the leg portion of the brace, wherein the weight compartment is configured to house one or more weighted objects. In some implementations, an AFO attachment may include a plastic material formed into a curve with a limited range of flexibility, wherein the plastic material is configured to be attached to an AFO. The AFO attachment may include a weight compartment formed on or affixed to the plastic material, wherein the weight compartment is configured to house one or more weighted objects. Methods for making an AFO and AFO attachment are also disclosed.
Apparatus and system for external orthopedic devices
A stabilization device can determine a condition of a human foot and can include a body, a pad, and a sensor. The body can be coupleable to a human foot. The pad can be coupleable to a distal portion of the body, and the pad can be configured to interface with a walking surface. The sensor can be securable to one of the body and the pad and the sensor can be configured to produce a sensor signal as a function of a sensed condition of the stabilization device.
Therapeutic vessel, related footwear, and method of manufacture and use
Described is an article of footwear (e.g. a sock or shoe liner) or a therapeutic vessel which includes fabric having therapeutic spheres, or spherical-type dimensional objects, disposed therein. The therapeutic spheres are positioned in the fabric such that when the fabric is placed on (or otherwise placed in contact with) a foot, the variable positioning spheres, which may be of varied diameters, align with and contact desired compression areas on the sole of the foot.
Compression leg support
A leg support that attaches to a user's leg and extends below the user's foot, where stepping on the portion below the user's foot causes the portion around the user's upper leg to tighten. This allows the leg support and the user's leg to bear the user's weight with the user's foot remaining untouched. When the user takes his or her weight off of the leg support, the portion around the user's upper leg loosens for the user's comfort. The leg support insures that there is zero pressure on the bottom of the user's foot and all of the user's weight and vertical shear pressure is converted into horizontal compression pressure around the user's leg.
