CERVICAL COLLAR HAVING HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT
A cervical collar has an anterior component including a lower support that is adjustable in angle relative to a main support. The lower support is hingedly connected to the main support at first and second end portions. An elongate element engages the first and second end portions. A lock mechanism is operative connected to the elongate element, and is arranged for locking rotation of the lower support relative to the main support, by moving the elongate element between locked and unlocked conditions.
DEVICE AND METHODS FOR MOVEMENT ASSISTANCE
Assistive movement devices and methods therefor are provided that are capable of redirecting loads from an individual's foot to hip when an individual is recovering from an injury at or below the knee. The devices include a frame assembly comprising an upper member, a lower member, and a joint therebetween. An upper attachment is secured to the upper member and is configured to be secured to the thigh of the individual's leg, and a lower attachment is secured to the lower member or the base and is configured to be secured to a portion of the leg below a knee thereof. A base is secured to the lower member and is configured to support a foot of the leg, and the device adjustably redirects at least a portion of a load resulting from the individual standing and walking from the base to the upper attachment.
METHODS FOR INTEGRATING SENSORS AND EFFECTORS IN CUSTOM THREE-DIMENSIONAL ORTHOSIS
A conformable body interface includes a body scaffold comprising a three-dimensional lattice which can be removably placed over a three-dimensional soft-tissue surface, such as a knee, elbow, spine, ankle, wrist, hip, or neck. One or more sensors are located at one or more locations on the body scaffold, and the one or more locations are selected to position the sensor near a target region on the body surface when the body scaffold is placed over the three-dimensional body surface. Typically, the sensors are positioned near a body joint to detect motion of the body joint.
REINFORCED JOINT SUPPORT STRAP AND METHOD OF APPLICATION
A reinforced support strap and method of application on a joint provides lateral and medial support to a joint and limbs. The support strap comprises, in some embodiments, a resilient body portion having a generally elongated V-shape that encapsulates the joint and is manipulated through rotation or axial movement along the joint and limbs for an enhanced fit. The body portion comprises a base end, an open end, and a pair of termini. The body portion further includes a mount surface that overlays the joint, and an exterior surface. The mount surface adheres to the joint through the use of a fastening mechanism. A reinforcement member, having less resilience than the body portion, may integrates into the body portion through stitching, to provide enhanced stability.
Vest to Provide Decompression and Traction for Spine and Method of Use
consists of (1) a thoracic top belt (2) a waist bottom belt, each belt having provision of independent tightening (3) an elastic band connecting both belts, thus making a single vest and (b) a plurality of one to two turn-buckles used in two different embodiments.
The turn buckle integrally but detachably positioned against the top belt and bottom belt provides upward lifting force to the thorax via the top belt and the downward force to the lumbar via the bottom belt, providing the decompression and traction to the spine,
LUMBAR PROTECTION EXOMUSCLE
A lumbar protection exomuscle is provided that includes of a harness that connects the rear part of the human body, from the shoulders to the feet, held in place, in addition, at the hip and knees, being such points connected successively to each other and in a vertical manner. In a standing position, the device maintains the tension without exerting force, but at the moment of flexion of the hip, the rear area of the thigh and glutes is stretched due to it being to the only elastic zone, thus accumulating a directional force that counteracts the torsions generated in the lumbar area, either at the moment of flexing, in a flexed static position or at the moment of extension.
Neck collar
A neck collar is provided, including: a neck sleeve, a chin support and an adjustment mechanism. The chin support is swingably connected to the neck sleeve. The adjustment mechanism includes at least one linking member and at least one driving member with which the linking member is co-movably connected. Each of the at least one linking member is movably connected to the neck sleeve and movably abutted against the chin support. The at least one driving member is externally operable and adjustable to drive the at least one linking member to move relative to the neck sleeve and to move relative to the chin support, simultaneously, between a first position and a second position. When the at least one linking member is moved toward the second position, the at least one linking member drives the chin support to swing upwardly relative to the neck sleeve.
Clamping band
The present invention relates to a tensioning strap comprising a strap-shaped base body that is compressible and/or extensible in the longitudinal direction, and comprising at least one pull cable, wherein the pull cable runs at least once along the longitudinal direction of the base body, and wherein the pull cable is deflected at at least one end of the base body. The present invention also relates to various possible applications of the tensioning strap according to the invention—in particular, in the field of medical aids, orthopedic aids, or sports aids.
Braces for Alleviating Compression and Methods of Making and Using the Same
A brace including (i) two or more supports configured to contact body parts on opposite sides or ends of one or more joints when the brace is in use and (ii) one or more force application mechanisms that apply a controllable force to the supports in opposite directions to alleviate compression in the one or more joints is disclosed. Methods of manufacturing the brace and of alleviating compression in one or more joints using the brace are also disclosed.
RESTING ORTHOSIS FOR A JOINT
An orthosis for the support of a joint, adapted to the thumb or wrist, comprising: sleeve-like main member made of an elastic material, adapted to envelop the joint and distal and proximal limb portions on either side of the joint, elastically deformable panel housed in a pocket formed in the main member, and non-elastic bracing device for bracing the main member and a proximal portion of the panel around the proximal limb portion, the panel being configured such that, over at least 50% of the length of the main member along the limb portions, including a limb portion covered by the bracing device, the panel has a cross-section occupying more than 30% of the perimeter of the underlying limb, the panel having a stiffness defined by a Young's modulus between 5 and 10 MPa, while the material forming the main member has a stiffness of a lower order of magnitude.
