Therapeutic Garment for Treatment of Over-Shunting Headaches and Method for Use of Same
A therapeutic garment for treatment of over-shunting headaches and method for use of the same are disclosed. In one embodiment, the therapeutic garment includes a waistband and an abdominal portion that extends from the waistband to encircle the abdomen and hips from the groin to the costal margin of a person wearing the therapeutic garment. A binder portion, having open and closed positions, is coincident to the abdominal portion. In the closed position, the binder distends the epidural venous plexus of the person wearing the therapeutic garment. A closure mechanism is configured to selectively alternate the binder between the open and closed positions. The therapeutic garment may further be fashioned into a brief, a tank top, or include leg extensions.
Protective Wear for Transplanted Kidney
A protective device and pad are disclosed. The protective device includes a garment or belt configured for securing a pad that has a lateral side shorter than a medial side over a portion of an abdomen/pelvis of a subject.
Wearable, self-locking shape memory alloy (SMA) actuator cartridge
Described embodiments provide a shape memory alloy (SMA) cartridge for use in providing controllable compression. The SMA cartridge includes first and second end caps, each of the first and second end caps being coupled to a passive material. One or more SMA coils extend between the first and second end caps. The SMA coils have a trained state and a deformed state, where the SMA coils are in the deformed state when a stimulus is provided thereto and the SMA coils are in the trained state when the stimulus is removed therefrom. The first end cap and the second end cap include a locking mechanism to automatically lock the first and second end caps in a fixed position relative to one another when the SMA coils are contracted.

Patch with Expansion Support Effect
A patch having expansion and supporting effects, comprising a body (10, 10A, 10B), at least one first support member (20, 20A, 20B), and at least one second support member (30, 30A, 0B). The body (10, 10A, 10B) is provided with an adhesive surface (11, 11A) and a bonding surface (12, 12A, 12B); the two support members (20, 20A, 20B, 30, 30A, 30B) are provided on the body (10, 10A, 10B) and arranged to movably match each other; each support member (20, 20A, 20B, 30, 30A, 30B) is disposed in a length direction of the body (10, 10A, 10B) and provided with a fixing portion (21, 31, 21A, 31A, 21B, 31B), a snap-fit portion (22, 32, 22A, 32A), and a movable portion (23, 33, 23A, 33A, 23B, 33B), so that the two support members (20, 20A, 20B, 30, 30A, 30B) are disposed in the length direction of the body (10, 10A, 10B) and arranged linearly; the snap-fit portion (22, 32, 22A, 32A) of each support member (20, 20A, 20B, 30, 30A, 30B) is capable of being snap-fitted to the movable portion (23, 33, 23A, 33A, 23B, 33B) of the other support member (20, 20A, 20B, 30, 30A, 30B), and then a support strength required by the body (10, 10A, 10B) during an expansion process is provided by means of a structural pattern in which the snap-fit portion (22, 32, 22A, 32A) is snap-fitted to the movable portion (23, 33, 23A, 33A, 23B, 33B). Therefore, a patch that is simple in structure and convenient to use and has expansion and supporting effects is provided.

Orthotic device for inhibiting a subject's chest expansion
In some embodiments, a method and/or system may include an orthotic device configured to limit expansion of a subject's chest. The orthotic device may include an elongated band, a pulley assembly, and a locking mechanism. The elongated band wraps, during use, around a chest of a subject comprising a first end couplable to a first base and a second end couplable to a second base. An elongated member, of the pulley assembly, may couple a first routing member to a second routing member such that by applying, during use, a pulling force to the elongated member a distance between the first and the second routing members decreases. The routing members may be removably coupled to the respective bases. The pulley assembly may include a locking mechanism which inhibits movement of the elongated member relative to at least one of the routing members such that the distance is inhibited from increasing.
