PROTECTIVE COVER FOR BODY PART FIXATION DEVICE
An assembly for a thermoplastic preform for securing body part is provided. The thermoplastic preform is deformable when heated to a softening temperature by an external heating source and hardens when cooled below the softening temperature. The assembly includes the thermoplastic preform and a protective cover surrounding the thermoplastic preform. The thermoplastic preform is sealed within the protective cover. The protective cover is heat resistant up to a temperature that exceeds the softening temperature for the thermoplastic preform. The protective cover transfers heat from the external heating source to the thermoplastic preform and prevents airborne and waterborne bacteria from contacting the thermoplastic preform.
HEAD STABILIZATION DEVICE TENSIONING FEATURE AND METHOD OF USE
A head stabilization device useable for stabilizing a head of a patient during a medical procedure includes a modular design where stabilization assemblies of various configurations are interchangeable at receiving portions along a frame. The device includes a tensioning feature positioned away from the stabilization assembly but still operable to increase or decrease an amount of force the stabilization assembly applies to the patient's head. The device includes a locking feature for a stabilization assembly having a rotatable member having one or more stabilization features connected thereto. The device includes an adjustment feature to adjust a spacing between frame members with the adjustment feature providing a continuous range of adjustment rather than finite adjustment increments.
Joint separator for body alignment
A spinal treatment system includes a traction device, an exercise device adapted for imparting curvature to the lumbar or sacral spine of a user and for manipulating the spine and intervertebral discs with decompression force, and a cushion coupled to the traction device and configured to bear against one or both of a head of the user and the thoracic spine of the user. The exercise device includes a frame for placement on the floor. A pad or inflatable bladder is carried by the top surface of the frame. A body strap attachment portion encompasses the thoracic-sacral spinal vertebrae region of the user and secures the frame to the user. The cushion includes one or more pad sections or inflatable bladder sections.
Head positioning aids for premature infants
A head positioning aid includes at least one head positioning assistor and at least one securing member. Some head positioning aids include positioning members secured to a headwear member. The positioning members maintain an infant's head in midline. An optional cheek flap protects the skin on the face. An optional support member supports the neck and an open airway. Size adjustment members may also be used to secure and orient tubing for a nasal cannula.
JAW SUPPORT DEVICE
A jaw support device for supporting a patient's jaw during dental procedures. More specifically, a jaw support device comprising a headrest mount assembly, a split sphere assembly having a first locking mechanism, a ball joint assembly having a second locking mechanism, and a jaw rest assembly. The headrest mount assembly may attach to a dental chair headrest. The split sphere assembly may have a split sphere ball and an arm extension and may attach to the headrest mount assembly. Further, the split sphere assembly's first locking mechanism may lock the arm extension in place. The ball joint assembly may have a ball joint ball and may connect to the arm extension of the split sphere assembly. The jaw rest assembly may attach to the ball joint assembly and may be locked in place when the second locking mechanism is activated.
DEVICE FOR CORRECTING FORWARD HEAD POSTURE
A device for correcting a forward head posture includes a front support configured to support a jaw of a user, a rear support configured to support a rear side of a cervical spine of the user, and an adjuster configured to adjust a distance between the front support and the rear support. As the adjuster is adjusted or operated, a lower jaw joint of the jaw of the user moves backward in a horizontal direction.
Spinal immobilization device, system, and method of use
A spinal immobilization device including a base member and a spinal support member configured to overlay the base member. The base member includes an elongate board having a curvate top surface, and a channel defined within the top surface. The spinal support member may include a bladder, a fluid housed within the bladder, a plurality of fluid absorbing members within the bladder, and a breakable barrier separating the fluid and the plurality of fluid absorbing members from mixing. The channel defines an impression within the top surface that matches a shape of a portion of the bladder.
Articulated Chin Rest Assembly
An articulated chin rest is assembly is provided for supporting the chin of a patient under monitored anesthesia care, sedation, general anesthesia, or other medical procedure to ensure that their airway is unobscured. The assembly may comprise a clamp adaptable to grip a variety of structures, a first and a second length of rigid material sequentially and rotatably connected to the clamp, and a chin rest finally rotatably connected to the second length of rigid material. Means for rotatably linking the clamp, first and second lengths of rigid material, and chin rest allow each element to rotate in three dimensional space so that the assembly mechanically mimics, and is ultimately usable in place of, an anesthesiologist's hand for tilting the patient's head and securely supporting the patient's chin.
Medical posture retainer
The present invention is a medical posture retainer having a mat and a core member. The mat includes an airtight bag and a cushion layer. The airtight bag is a cover of the mat and has a gas barrier property. An exhaust valve for deflation is attached to the bag. The cushion layer is formed of particles in the bag. The core member includes a plate-like support that is attached to a side face of the hag to keep a certain rise height, and a stopper that is attached to the upper face and the lower face of the airtight bag to restrict the rise height. The core member is attached before deflation of the bag so as to impart a shape necessary for receiving a specific part of a human body.
Amelioration of sleep apnea and other obstructive breathing disorders
A method and apparatus for the amelioration of sleep apnea and other obstructive breathing disorders in a patient includes a collar configured to encircle the patient's neck, and a jaw-engagement mechanism carried by the collar. The jaw-engagement mechanism includes a pad configured to contact the underside of the patient's lower jaw in the area of the anterior triangle behind the mandibular symphysis and to be received in a small hollow of the patient's jaw. In use, the pad can apply force against a surface of the patient's lower jaw in order to push it forwardly and upwardly. The pad preferably is secured to a movable post that can be positioned such that a desired amount of force is applied to the patient's lower jaw.
