RECIPROCATING CONNECTING BAR ASSEMBLY FOR A CLUBFOOT BRACE
An apparatus for treating clubfoot is provided that comprises a pair of vertically stacked and parallel cross bars that are connected to shoe attachment member via four hinges to define a parallelogram shaped gap therebetween. As the user raises a knee, one shoe attachment member can be displaced via the hinges (primarily in the y-axis or anterior/superior plane) relative to the other shoe attachment member, while the distance between the crossbars remains constant.
Personal Passenger Space Support Device
A personal passenger space support device is disclosed as it may be implemented to comfortably support a user's legs at a predetermined spacing in the user's own personal space while in a seated position. An example of the device includes a first leg support configured for a user's right leg, and a second leg support configured for the user's left leg. An interconnect is configured to maintain the first and second leg supports at a predetermined lateral spacing to support the user's legs apart from one another without overhanging the user's own personal space.
Hamstring support system and method of use
A hamstring support system comprising a waist strap, a heel cup and an elongated biasing element assembly elastically extending between the waist strap the heel cup. The waist strap is secured to a waistline of a patient having an injured or recovering hamstring injury. The heel cup is secured to a heel of an injured leg of the patient. A length of the biasing element assembly is adjusted to a neutral or slight biasing force when the injured leg is bent, thus providing a supporting force when the injured leg is extended. A pliant material can be placed between the heel cup and the heel. A shoe is preferably worn over the heel cup.
LEG SLING
A leg sling for use on a lower limb has a waist belt configured to be secured around a user's waist. At least two connectors are attached to the waist belt. A pair of assistance lines made of a stretchable and resilient material are provided. Each of the assistance lines has a connector end attachable to one of the at least two connectors and a foot sling end. A foot sling is made of a flexible material. The foot sling has a foot support, a left connection and a right connection. The left connection is connectable to the foot sling end of one of the assistance lines and the right connection is connectable to the foot sling end of the other assistance line.
Method and apparatus for restraining a patient's leg during leg surgical and interventional procedures
An improved method and apparatus for restraining a patient's leg during knee surgery or similar procedure features and improved restraining member that is attachable to an operating room table. The restraining member has a lower concave portion that engages the upper portion and sides of the patient's leg. The restraining member has an upper convex portion that is reinforced with a plurality of ridges. The concave portion can be fitted with an inflatable bladder. The concave portion in other embodiments is fitted with a belt arrangement that enables different degrees of constriction to be imparted to the leg.
Post-Operative Support Apparatus for a Patient's Residual Limb
A post-operative support apparatus for a patient's transfemoral residual limb, includes: a planar, stretchable, tensionable and flexible wrap panel sized to wrap around an outer circumference of a patient's transfemoral residual limb, where the wrap panel includes first fastener(s) for maintaining the wrap panel in place around the patient's residual limb; a planar, stretchable, tensionable and flexible hip-band sized to wrap around an outer circumference of a patient's hip or waist, where the hip-band includes second fastener(s) for maintaining the hip-band in place around the patient's hip or waist; and third fastener(s) releasably fastening the wrap panel to the hip-band.
Orthopedic brace with magnetic assistance
Apparatus for an orthopedic brace with magnetic assistance. A pair of braces are configured to each support and secure a magnetic device on each leg above the knee. The magnetic devices generate a magnetic force sufficient to reduce a spastic gait. Each magnetic device has a magnetic field that interacts with a magnetic field of the other magnetic device. The magnetic field produces a magnetic force that repels the other magnetic device as the magnetic devices move relative to each other when the wearer walks. The shape of the magnetic field is configured to aid the wearer in avoiding the legs colliding while walking. In one embodiment discrete magnets are disposed on the medial side of each brace. In another embodiment magnetic material is integral with the medial side of each brace and the magnetic material has a selected field strength curve.
LEG RESTRAINT SYSTEM AND METHODS OF USE THEREOF
A leg restraint system to hold a person's thighs together while seated with bent legs, including a strap having a first strap end and a second strap end, a buckle, the buckle having a first latchable end and a second latchable end, wherein the first latchable end is affixed to the first strap end and the second latchable end affixed to the second strap end, one or more keepers configured to gather the first strap end and a second strap end, a bungee binder, the bungee binder configured to hold the strap in a stored position and, thus, functions to be easily used to carry or transport the leg restraint system and utilize the leg restraint system to clasp, cinch, and hold a seated passengers bent legs in parallel and prevent their bent legs from spreading to a V-spread and encroaching on another adjacent traveler's designated leg space.
Orthotic device to prevent hyperextension
An orthotic device restrains a portion of the movement of a wearer's limb about a joint to train the wearer's muscles to be so limited after the device is no longer worn, preventing hyperextension. The device includes: a first and second tubular portions, and at least one resistance band. The first and second tubular portions encircle respective portions of the limb on opposite sides of a joint, and apply compression. The tubular portions are formed of elastic material, and are joined together to orient an axis of the second tubular portion at an angle to an axis of the first tubular portion, when undeformed. The first and second ends of the resistance member(s) are fixedly secured to selective positions on the first and second tubular portions, respectively, and has a length configured to bias only a portion of the range of movement of the limb away from full extension.
ORTHOPEDIC TENSION-REDUCING BRACE
An orthopedic brace features a knee orthosis including a first de-tensioning assembly and a second de-tensioning assembly. The first de-tensioning assembly includes a first elastic strap situated on a first side of the knee orthosis and the second de-tensioning assembly includes a second elastic strap situated on a second side of the knee orthosis. The first and second elastic straps are communicatively coupled to a lumbar back support brace and a lower leg brace, both separate from the knee orthosis.
