SURGICAL LIMB POSITIONING APPARATUS
An apparatus that controls the rotation of an operative limb during shoulder surgery is composed of three parts: 1) a mechanism that is part of the durable apparatus, and which allows the limb to be suspended from the system and traction weights applied, but is configured in such a manner that the cable or other connecting member does not rotate about its axis; 2) a sterile connector that acts as the interface between the non-sterile durable apparatus and a sterile patient-contacting disposable drape; and 3) the disposable drape which is secured to the patient's operative arm. One of the sterile connector and the disposable drape contains a feature that allows the physician to rotate and hold the limb in any desired position, without requiring that it be manually held in place.
ANTERIOR BOOT FOR HIP DISTRACTION
A surgical boot system and sleeve accessory for hip distraction. The surgical boot system includes an L-shaped rigid shell having a proximal portion and a distal portion. A soft liner is attached to the rigid shell and extends along at least one of the proximal portion and the distal portion. The surgical boot system also includes at least one strap assembly (which can be a plurality of strap assemblies) extending around the rigid shell. A load transmission hoop is connected to and extends around the distal portion of the rigid shell and an attachment point is connected to the load transmission hoop. The rigid shell is pivotable about the attachment point. Specifically, the attachment point is configured to interface with a hip distractor apparatus in a way that allows for multiple degrees of freedom.
Arm restraint for surgery tables
An arm restraint system is provided for restraining movement of an arm of a patient's body lying over a top surface of a table. The system includes a rigid support frame located at a lateral edge of said table and a padded restraint configured to at least partially receive the arm of said patient. The padded restraint is securely fixed to the rigid support frame, via a repositionable fastener, to inhibit movement of the patient's arm relative to the rigid support frame and thereby maintain the arm at a position laterally adjacent to the patient's body without the arm being restrained by tucking.
Positioning apparatus for biomedical use
A medical positioning apparatus including a telescopic member extending between first and second ends and having an adjustable length; a support member for receiving an object; a base member securable to a base; a first joint mechanism movably securing the support member to the first end of the telescopic member; a second joint mechanism including a housing with a top portion directly rotationally connected to the second end of the telescopic member, and at least one side portion directly rotationally connected to the base member and movably securing the base member to the second end of the telescopic member, a locking device operatively connected to the first and second joint mechanisms and the telescopic member, the locking device operable between a locked position and a released position; and a lock activation device to unlock the locking device biased in the locked position.
RESCUE DEVICE
A rescue device comprising a closed loop element made of a flexible material and first and second slidable elements mounted to the closed loop element so as to be slidable therealong while frictionally engaging the closed loop element. The first and second slidable elements each pinch the closed loop element against itself to define a pair of opposed end loop portions and an intermediate loop portion extending therebetween, the intermediate loop portion extending between the first and second slidable elements and each of the end loop portions extending from a respective one of the first and second slidable elements opposed to the intermediate loop portion.
SUPPORT ARM SYSTEM, METHOD AND APPARATUS
A clamping system and method of clamping a rod includes a single knob coupled to a control screw. The single knob can increase or decrease a clamping force on the control screw. A clamp housing includes a control screw channel, wherein the control screw is disposed in the screw channel. A rod channel is capable of receiving a rod. A cleat channel extends into the rod channel. A cleat block has a clamping surface capable of entering at least a portion of the rod channel as the clamping force is increased on the cleat block.
Hinged ankle brace
A hinged ankle brace including a foot bed member and an ankle cuff which are hinged together by flexible joint members. The flexible joint members yieldably resist hinged movement between the foot bed member and the ankle cuff in a plantarflexion and dorsiflexion direction. Disc-shaped spacer-washers are positioned at the outer sides of the flexible joint members. The design of the upper ends of the medial and lateral wings of the foot bed member and the ankle cuff permits a limited amount of inversion and eversion movement between the foot bed member and the ankle cuff. The flexible joint members and the spacer-washers also permit a limited amount of inversion and eversion between the foot bed member and the ankle cuff.
Surgical arm positioning systems and methods
A surgical arm positioning system has a cable including two end portions coupled to a connection member of a hand grip. The cable and connection member form a continuous loop. The surgical arm positioning system further includes a frame that supports a number of pulleys. The continuous loop is trained around the pulleys. The surgical arm positioning system also includes a tensile resistance member engaged with the cable. The tensile resistance member provides tensile force to the cable to resist movement of the continuous loop relative to the frame, thereby to hold the patient's arm relatively still during surgery.
Remote controlled and/or time-limited personal restraint system
A restraining device comprised of electromagnets attached to a structure and steel pieces attached to a person's wrists that are controlled to restrain or release a person. This restraining device is wired to an enclosure with various electronic components that provide many ways of activating and deactivating the electromagnets of the restraining device. For example, it could be remotely controlled by another individual over the internet, but could also be configured to be used alone for self-restraint. A plurality of safety mechanisms, including a panic button, a countdown timer, a network polling mechanism and voice control can all be applied to make it possible for the person who is using this device to be released from their restraints.
SURGICAL ARM POSITIONER WITH STERILE DISPOSABLE SUPPORT
An arm retainer for supporting a patient's arm at a desired position on an articulatable support assembly secured to an operating table. The arm retainer includes a rigid arm tray (11) provided with a pair of spaced openings (16) for securement of a disposable arm support liner (10) to the tray. The arm support liner (10) is comprised of a sheet of malleable material (13) with a soft engagement surface (14) for skin contact with the patient and is provided with a predetermined cut configuration for wrapping the malleable liner (10) about the patient's arm for retention of the arm therein. The line (10) has two spaced foldout tabs (17) aligned with the corresponding tray openings (16) for securing the liner to the tray (11) by folding the tabs (17) through respective of the openings (16) and thereafter against the bottom side of the tray.
