METHODS AND COMPOSITIONS FOR POLYURETHANE DISPERSIONS USING CAPROLACTAM-DERIVED SOLVENTS
Caprolactam-derived solvents for use as processing solvents and/or coalescing agents for polyurethane dispersions (PUDs). The caprolactam-derived solvents are suitable for processing solvents and coalescing agents in PUDs created through traditional PUD manufacturing processes or as coalescing agents in PUDs created through solvent-free PUD manufacturing processes. Blends of more than one caprolactam-derived solvent may be used as the processing solvent and/or coalescing agent.
2,2-DIMETHYL-1,3-DIOXOLAN-4-YL - METHYL 2-BROMO-2,2-DIFLUOROACETATE,WATERBORNE POLYURETHANE, AND PREPARATION METHODS THEREOF
Disclosed are (2,2-dimethyl-1,3-dioxolan-4-yl)methyl 2-bromo-2,2-difluoroacetate, a waterborne polyurethane, and preparation methods thereof. The (2,2-dimethyl-1,3-dioxolan-4-yl)methyl 2-bromo-2,2-difluoroacetate could be used as a modified monomer for preparing a waterborne polyurethane, and substituents at a C2 position of the (2,2-dimethyl-1,3-dioxolan-4-yl)methyl 2-bromo-2,2-difluoroacetate are two fluorine atoms and one bromine atom. When it is used for preparing the waterborne polyurethane, fluorine and bromine groups are introduced into the structure of the waterborne polyurethane, and the resultant waterborne polyurethane exhibits good moisture resistance and flame retardance.
One component self-crosslinking coatings

The composition includes a urethane phase including a polyurethane polymer with at least polyester diol monomer units, polycarbonate diol monomer units, and ketone-functionalized diol monomer units. The composition may include an optional acrylic phase including an acrylic polymer having monomer units selected from one of alkyl (meth)acrylate monomer units, vinyl acetate monomer units, styrene monomer units, ketone-functional vinyl monomer units, or combinations thereof. The composition includes a hydrazine-functionalized crosslinking agent configured to crosslink one of the ketone-functionalized diol monomer units, the ketone-functional vinyl monomer units, or both. The composition further includes one or more tertiary amine reaction moderators or neutralizing agents.
