Coating composition comprising a polyisocyanate and a polyol

The invention relates to a non-aqueous coating composition comprising a. a polyisocyanate, b. a polyol having an average functionality of more than 3 hydroxyl groups per molecule, c. a metal based curing catalyst for the addition reaction of isocyanate groups and hydroxyl groups, and d. a mercapto carboxylic acid, wherein the coating composition does not contain a carboxylic acid wherein the carbonyl group of the carboxylic acid is in conjugation with π-electron system.

Primer coating composition

The present invention relates to a primer coating composition that includes, (a) a (meth)acrylic polymer that includes hydroxyl groups, and which has a Tg of at least 30° C. The primer coating composition further includes, (b) a polyester that includes hydroxyl groups, and which has a weight average molecular weight of less than 3000, and a hydroxyl value of at least 100. The primer coating composition also includes, (c) a crosslinking agent having at least two isocyanate groups. The present invention also relates to a coated article that includes a repaired area that includes a primer coating formed from the primer coating composition of the present invention. The primer coating compositions, in accordance with some embodiments, provide reduced or minimal ringing defects.

Hot melt adhesive and method of forming the same

A hot melt adhesive (HMA), which is solid at room temperature, comprises the reaction product of 5 to 25% by weight of an isocyanate component having an NCO content of from about 20 to about 50% by weight, 75 to 85% by weight of a polyester, and 1 to 10% by weight of a hydroxy-polymer having an OH number of from about 40 to about 50. A method of forming the adhesive comprises the step of combining the isocyanate component, polyester, and hydroxy-polymer to form the adhesive. The adhesive can be used for various purposes, such as for forming an adhesive layer which adhesively couples surfaces together.

The eyewear material is an eyewear material containing thermoplastic polyurethane. The eyewear material has a tan δ peak at both less than 0° C. and 0° C. or more and 70° C. or less observed in dynamic viscoelasticity measurement in tensile mode under the measurement conditions of a temperature increase speed of 5° C./min and a measurement frequency of 10 Hz.

The present invention relates to a polyurethane laminating adhesives, methods for producing a multilayer laminate by laminating at least two films with a polyurethane laminating adhesive, and multilayer laminates obtainable by these methods wherein the polyurethane laminating adhesive comprises an NCO-terminated polyurethane prepolymer obtainable by reacting a polyol mixture comprising: 0.1 to 20.0 wt % relative to the total weight of the polyol mixture of at least one polybutadiene polyol; and 5.0 to 99.9 wt % relative to the total weight of the polyol mixture of at least one polyether polyol, wherein the at least one polyether polyol comprises at least one polyether polyol with a number average molecular weight M.sub.n in the range of >1000 g/mol to 10000 g/mol; with at least one polyisocyanate, wherein the at least one polyisocyanate is used in an amount such that the isocyanate groups are present in molar excess relative to the hydroxyl groups of the polyol mixture. Also encompassed are the use of the described adhesives for laminating two or more films, and the multilayer laminates obtainable by the described methods.

Surfacing films and related processes are provided. These films include a first clear coat layer comprising a first crosslinked polyurethane that is the reaction product of an isocyanate; a polyol selected from the group consisting of: a caprolactone polyol, polycarbonate polyol, a polyester polyol, acrylic polyol, polyether polyol, polyolefin polyol, and mixtures thereof; and a hydroxy-functional silicone poly(meth)acrylate; a second clear coat layer comprising a crosslinked polymer that is essentially free of hydroxy-functional silicone poly(meth)acrylate; a bulk layer comprising a thermoplastic polyurethane; and an adhesive layer. The provided films overcome the problem of migration of solvents and other impurities into the polyurethane bulk layer because the clear coat layer is cured, and solvents removed, prior to the coating of the polyurethane bulk layer. Manufacturing of these films can provide substantially faster line speeds and reduced waste.
