An adhesive ostomy element comprising a backing layer (3) and having at least a first section (1) and at least a first adhesive (4) on a surface of said backing layer. In the centre is provided a stoma-receiving through-going hole (2) defining an inner boundary in said first section and said first section being adjacent to and extending radially from said through-going hole. At least a part of the portion of the first section is provided with a layer of absorbent foam (7) adjacent the hole. The foam expands towards the stoma when wetted and provides a seal against the stoma.

Ostomy appliance with layered base plate

A base plate of an ostomy appliance includes a first adhesive layer and a masking element. The first adhesive layer includes a stomal opening with a center point and a proximal surface configured to be attached to a skin surface of a user. The masking element is arranged on a distal surface of the first adhesive layer and is more insulative than the first adhesive layer. A plurality of electrodes is arranged on the distal surface of the first adhesive layer, where each electrode includes a sensing part and a conductor part. The masking element is arranged between the conductor part of each electrode and the first adhesive layer. The electrodes are formed on a proximal surface of a support layer.

Method of providing an ostomy device that is shape-adjustable to conform to a bulge or a hernia associated with a stoma

We disclose a method of providing a user or a healthcare worker with an ostomy device that is shape-adjustable to conform to skin around a stoma associated with a bulge or a hernia. The ostomy device is configured to invert from a storage configuration to a use configuration by inverting a substantially convex shape of a proximal side of a base plate to a substantially concave shape and stabilizing the base plate in the use configuration by contacting the inner radial periphery of the reinforcing structure with a distal surface of the base plate.
