20200002552 · 2020-01-02 ·

An intumescent coating system contains: a polyol component; an isocyanate component; a latent crosslinker having two or more NACH.sub.2OR groups, where A is selected from a group consisting of H and CH.sub.2OR, and in each case R is independently selected from a group consisting of hydrocarbons having from one to four carbons, the latent crosslinker being present at a concentration of 30 weight-percent or more based on polyol weight; a boron component one weight-percent or more and 10 weight-percent or less based on total weight of the formulation; and expandable graphite at a concentration of 10 weight-percent or more and 50 weight-percent or less based on the total intumescent system weight; where the polyol and isocyanate are selected so that the reaction product at room temperature of the intumescent coating system components produces a coating having a tensile elongation of 40-percent or more as determined according to ISO 37.

POLYESTER COMPOSITIONS FOR METAL PACKAGING COATINGS

This invention pertains to improved polyester polyol compositions containing 2,2,4,4-tetramethyl-1,3-cyclobutanediol (TMCD). Coating compositions based on such TMCD polyester polyols are capable of providing a good balance of desirable coating properties such as solvent resistance, acid resistance, retort resistance, microcracking resistance, and bending ability. The TMCD coating compositions have particular utility for use in metal packaging applications.

Wax-Organic Extender Emulsion and Method for Manufacture Thereof

A wax-extender emulsion including a plurality of wax-extender complex particles suspended in water is described. A wax-extender complex includes a wax component, an organic extender component and a surfactant that stabilizes the wax component and the organic extender component collectively to form the wax-extender complex. The wax-extender emulsion comprises from 2 wt % to 30 wt % organic extender. During manufacturing, the organic extender and wax component are emulsified and homogenized together to produce the wax-extender emulsion. The wax-extender emulsion can be co-applied as a mixture with adhesive resin during wood-based composite manufacturing.

PRODUCT FOR REDUCING SAND ADHESIONS
20240042514 · 2024-02-08 ·

Molding material mixes that contain a polyurethane binder based on phenolic resins of the benzyl ether type and polyisocyanates are characterized by the inclusion of a polybutadiene derivative. In one case, the polybutadiene derivative has epoxide groups and hydroxyl groups. In another case, the polybutadiene derivative has succinic acid anhydride groups. Molds, cores and risers are produced using these molding material mixes. Inclusion of the polybutadiene derivatives results in a reduction of sand adhesions in the molding process.

Hybrid novolac polyurea/polyurethane

A hybrid polyurethane/polyurea polymer suitable for forming a coating on a structure which is in contact with water includes the reaction product of a polyol component consisting of one or more polyols, a polyamine, and a curing agent, such as a polyisocyanate. The polyol component includes a Novolac-type polyether polyol.
