EXTERNAL HEAD APPARATUS FOR REDUCING THE TONE OF MASTICATORY MUSCLES IN PATIENTS WITH BRUXISM AND/OR OTHER CRANIOMANDIBULAR DYSFUNCTIONS (CMD)
An improved external head apparatus for reducing the tone of the masticatory muscles in patients with bruxism and/or other craniomandibular dysfunctions (CMD) includes two curved spring-tempered wires and two separate connecting elements. The external head apparatus has a plane of symmetry, which passes through the center of the curved spring-tempered wires. The two separate connecting elements are situated on different sides of the plane of symmetry.
Mouthpiece, sheet for production of mouthpiece piece unit, and production method of mouthpiece
A mouthpiece including a constituent portion (X) that includes an olefin-based polymer (A) having a repeating unit having 2 or 3 carbon atoms and that satisfies a bending elastic modulus (α) at 23° C. of 80 MPa≤α≤1000 MPa.
EMBEDDED ORAL SENSOR PLATFORM
Embodiments of the present invention provide an oral device. According to one embodiment of the present invention, a mouthpiece suitable to detachably engage teeth of an upper jaw is provided. The mouthpiece comprises an adhesive layer configured to attach a hermetically sealed chamber to the mouthpiece. The hermitically sealed chamber fits within a concave space created by the mouthpiece. The hermitically sealed chamber comprises two layers and embedded between those two layers are a pressure sensor, a microphone, an optical sensor, a temperature sensor, a communications module, a storage enclosure, and a biosensor. Each of the pressure sensor, the microphone, the optical sensor, the temperature sensor, the communications module, the storage enclosure, and the biosensor are operably connected within the hermetically sealed chamber.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR TREATMENT OF TOOTH DECAY, INFECTION OR ABSCESS AND APPARATUS RELATED THERETO
Disclosed is a bite blocker device for preventing occlusion of an affected dentition. The channel of the bite block follows and engages a portion of the user's upper teeth, while a base portion, opposite the channel portion, follows and engages a portion of the user's lower teeth. The base portion and the channel are separated forming a gap between the user's upper teeth and lower teeth. The bite block is placed substantially opposite the affected tooth or teeth, the gap formed by the bite block preventing occlusion of the affected teeth.
SLEEP MONITORING DEVICE
One general aspect includes an intraoral sleep monitoring device, for determining a status of a user's breathing, including at least one measurement device, on one or more electronics-compatible substrate, adapted to produce data related to a status of a user's breathing and a data storage system recording the data from the at least one measurement device.
DEVICES AND METHODS OF TREATING SLEEP AND AWAKE BRUXISM
A device and method for treating awake and sleep bruxism in a patient includes a vibrational dental device having a mouthpiece for contacting the dentition. Instructions are provided for waking use of the vibrational dental device by placing the mouthpiece over the dentition, applying a vibratory force during a predetermined number of sessions throughout a predetermined treatment period, wherein the incidence of awake and sleep bruxism is decreased compared to without vibratory treatment.
Intra-oral device for mandibular adjustment
A device manufactured using CAD/CAM, including an upper splint (1) with followers (19) and various lower splints (2) including contact surfaces (3a) on which the followers (19) contact, so that on exchanging lower splints for others, according to a manufacturing sequence, they cause different controlled mandibular advancements. The contact surfaces (3a) reproduce a movement from the contact of the followers (19) on said contact surfaces (3a). The device is customised for each patient according to a set of anatomical parameters, and a series of input data measured by doctors, which personalise the device to achieve opening movement with single protrusive advancement in each of the lower splints (2).
CUSTOM-FORMABLE NIGHT GRINDING APPLIANCE AND METHOD OF USE
Disclosed is a dental appliance composed of a thermo-plastic polymer with low compressibility, high toughness, and high tensile strength, with a low softening point. The appliance has perforations that enable it to be easily custom-fitted by the user or a health professional. The appliance begins as an unformed dental tray that is significantly thinner than existing dental appliances. Once fitted, the dental appliance provides superior protection against damage to the enamel of the teeth and abrasion of the teeth due to bruxism or other mechanism leading to biomechanical wear of dental surfaces. The perforations facilitate the custom-fitting process by allowing the user to suck air through the perforations, thus applying a negative pressure between the material and the teeth while the material is still soft and pliable.
Custom-fit dental guard
A dental guard (10) for preventing wear of the occlusal surfaces of a user's teeth resulting from bruxism is provided. The dental guard (10) can be can be custom-fitted to the teeth of the wearer. The guard (10) comprises a durable core (14) that is overmolded by a thermoplastic outer layer (12). The outer layer (12) can be softened through exposure to hot, but not boiling, water, and then formed around the user's teeth. The guard (10) may include one or more features (32, 84) that assist the user in proper positioning of the guard within his or her mouth during the custom fitting process.
COMPUTER AIDED DESIGN MATRIX FOR THE MANUFACTURE OF DENTAL DEVICES
Disclosed herein are methods of manufacturing a dental device, the method comprising: obtaining a set of clinical options for the dental device from a health care provider; creating a first data set from the set of clinical options; communicating the data set to a computer aided design (CAD) software; preparing a digital design for the dental device using the CAD software; communicating the digital design to an automated milling apparatus; and automatedly milling a block of polymer to obtain the dental device. Also disclosed are dental devices manufactured by the above method. Further disclosed are methods of treating or ameliorating apnea jaw-related disorder in a patient, the method comprising obtaining a dental device manufactured by the above method and positioning the dental device over the dentition prior to sleep, whereby the mandible is advanced forward relative to the maxilla, thereby ameliorating the symptoms of sleep apnea or the jaw-related disorder.
