Systems and methods for obstructive sleep apnea detection and monitoring
One aspect of the present disclosure relates to a system that monitors and detects obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). The system includes an oropharynx protection appliance (12), which includes a passive tongue retention structure (13) having an end portion adapted to prevent a pharyngeal portion of a tongue of a subject from collapsing and at least one anchoring structure (15) that is connected to the passive tongue retention structure and adapted to secure the passive tongue retention structure within the subject's mouth in a removable fashion. The system also includes a sensing system (14) attached to a portion of the oropharynx apparatus. The sensing system includes a sensor (16) to measure a position of the pharyngeal portion of the tongue to detect an obstruction of the oropharynx; and a wireless transceiver (17) to transmit data related to the obstruction of the oropharynx to a remote diagnostic device (18).
Oral appliance
An oral appliance includes an upper arch, a lower arch, and an electronic device. The upper arch is configured to be positioned within a user's mouth proximate the user's maxillary dentition when the upper arch is positioned in the user's mouth. The lower arch is configured to be positioned proximate the user's mandibular dentition when the lower arch is positioned in the user's mouth. The electronic device is coupled to one or more of the upper arch and the lower arch, the electronic device configured to monitor a feature of the environment proximate one or more of the upper arch and the lower arch.
Method of manufacturing an oral tray for stabilizing jaw joint relationships for treatment of sleep apnea
A method of manufacturing an oral appliance for treating sleep apnea of a patient that has a monolithic body with an upper tray with an upper recess formed to conform to the maxillary teeth of the patient and a lower tray with a lower recess formed to conform to the mandibular teeth, the monolithic body defining a coupling of a rear portion of the upper tray to a rear portion of the lower tray at an angle forming a orifice between front mandibular teeth and front maxillary teeth.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR TREATING SLEEP APNEA
An oral appliance is disclosed that provides electrical stimulation to a patient's tongue in a manner that prevents collapse of the tongue and/or soft palate during sleep. More specifically, the appliance may induce a reversible current or currents in a lateral direction across the tongue in a manner that shortens the patient's Palatoglossus muscle and/or Styloglossus muscle SGM, which in turn elevates the base of the tongue toward the roof of the oral cavity, changes the shape of the tongue, pulls the patient's soft palate downward towards a base of the tongue, and/or decreases a volume of the tongue.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR TREATING SLEEP APNEA WHILE STRAIGHTENING TEETH
A computationally implemented method includes, but is not limited to: determining an incrementally progressive series of adjustment appliances, each of the series of adjustment appliances having geometries selected to progressively reposition teeth; and determining for each of the series of adjustment appliances, a vertical displacement and a forward mandibular position for treating sleep apnea. In addition to the foregoing, other method aspects are described in the claims, drawings, and text forming a part of the present disclosure.
LOW-PROFILE MOUTH GUARD
Described is a low-profile mouth guard formed of layered materials with variable hardness and different molding temperatures joined together to form a composite structure. The mouth guard is formed from a unique blend of materials including PCL (Polycaprolactate), EVA (Polyethylene Polyvinylacetate) and TPU (Thermoplastic Urethane). The unique blend allows a low-profile design that delivers both comfort and protection.
Implanted tongue pulling device, pull plate, pull line, retractor and method
An implanted tongue pulling device including a pull plate, a pull line, a retractor and a method thereof are provided. The tongue pulling device is implanted in the mandible and tongue of a human body, respectively, for tightening the tongue dorsum and/or the tongue base for treating obstructive sleep apnea/hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS). At least three pull lines are used for positioning the pull plate, which is a flat object implanted beneath the tongue dorsum and/or the mucous membrane of the tongue base and includes through holes for the growth of tissues and pull line fixing mechanisms. The pull line includes a draw line and a sleeve. The retractor includes a casing, a control switch and a pull line fixing device mounted on the casing. A patient after surgery can adjust the tightening extent of the implanted tongue pulling device by pressing the skin outside the control switch, thereby preventing OSAHS.
COMBINED ORTHODONTIC MOVEMENT OF TEETH WITH AIRWAY DEVELOPMENT THERAPY
Systems, devices and methods are disclosed for reshaping airways concurrently with dental and/or orthodontic treatment. The systems can have a series of two or more oral appliances configured to progressively reposition the maxillary and mandibular teeth in two or more successive steps. Each oral appliance in the series can have one or more maxillary blocks, one or more mandibular blocks, a maxillary oral tray, and a mandibular oral tray. One or more maxillary blocks can be attached to or integrated with the maxillary oral tray. One or more mandibular blocks can be attached to or integrated with the mandibular oral tray. The maxillary and mandibular oral trays can be configured to move one or more teeth from a tooth first position to a tooth second position. The maxillary and mandibular blocks can be configured to interact with one another to treat sleep breathing disorders.
Resource provisioning systems and methods
A method and apparatus managing a set of processors for a set of queries is described. In an exemplary embodiment, a device receives a set of queries for a data warehouse, the set of queries including one or more queries to be processed by the data warehouse. The device further provisions a set of processors from a first plurality of processors, where the set of processors to process the set of queries, and a set of storage resources to store data for the set of queries. In addition, the device monitors a utilization of the set of processors as the set of processors processes the set of queries. The device additionally updates a number of the processors in the set of processors provisioned based on the utilization/Furthermore, the device processes the set of queries using the updated set of processors.
ORAL APPLIANCE FOR TREATING SLEEP APNEA
An oral appliance for treating apnea comprising an upper dental tray and a lower dental tray. The upper tray includes an anterior buccal fastener on each lateral side, while the lower tray includes both an anterior buccal fastener and a posterior buccal fastener on each lateral side of the appliance. A vertically oriented elastic band is extended between the respective anterior buccal fasteners of the upper tray and the lower tray, while a diagonally oriented elastic band is extended between the anterior buccal fastener of the upper tray and the posterior buccal fastener of the lower tray.
