Edentulous specific support and aesthetic restorative appliance
An edentulous mouth insert appliance for mounting upon the edentulous gum of a patient, comprises a u-shaped frame formed of a rigid flexible material, with a portion to embrace the gum and a portion extending beyond the gum with an exposed surface to replicate a bite aligned with the corresponding occlusal plane. The frame has a base supporting a pair of inner and outer side walls spaced apart by the base a distance allowing the frame to encircle and cover the edentulous gum with a space between inner surfaces of the frame and the gum. A fill within the frame fills the space between the frame and the gum upon which the appliance is fitted, providing a void-free seal between the apparatus and the gum.
CONTACTLESS CPAP DEVICE
An apparatus for pressurizing one or more airways of a user, including: a dental arch mold configured to receive a plurality of teeth, a port which may be at a front face of the dental arch mold, a first nasal pillow, a second nasal pillow, a multi-output air regulator, and a plurality of sensors. The multi-output air regulator and sensors allow the airway pressurization device to sense the pressures in as well as be in independent fluid communication with the port of the dental arch, the first nasal pillow, and the second nasal pillow, such that an equalization of pressures, or a determined pressure differential between each may be obtained.
AUTOMATED METHOD OF MANUFACTURING ORAL APPLIANCES
Disclosed herein are methods of manufacturing an oral appliance, the method comprising the steps of: a) importing into a computer aided design (CAD) computer program a digitized data set obtained from a three-dimensional scan of a patient's dentition; b) preparing a three-dimensional electronic model of the patient's dentition; c) subtracting the three-dimensional electronic model of the patient's dentition from an image of a solid block to obtain an appliance data set; and d) manufacturing a dental appliance in accordance with the appliance data set. Also disclosed are devices made by the above method, and methods of treating a condition, for example a sleep breathing disorder, by using a device made by the above method.
Apparatus and methods to convert dental, oral, orthodontic appliances, retainers, and dentures into a multifunctional oral appliance
An apparatus and method to convert a dental, oral, orthodontic appliances, retainers, and dentures into a multifunctional oral appliance. The apparatus includes plurality of mechanical connectors and attachments made of plastic, ceramic, or metal, that convert any dental or oral appliances, into multipurpose, three dimensionally adjustable oral appliances for treating obstructive sleep apnea, snoring, temporomandibular joint and musculoskeletal disorders of the jaw, and for improving breathing from the mouth even when nasal passages are blocked.
Anti-Snoring Mouth Guard
An anti-snoring mouth guard for insertion into a mouth of a user for decreasing snoring and the effects of sleep apnea includes a mouthpiece portion having a bottom wall and a pair of upstanding side walls displaced and opposite one another and extending upwardly from the bottom wall, said mouthpiece having a hemispherical configuration that is complementary to a shape of the user's teeth. Collectively, the bottom wall and pair of side walls define a channel operable to receive teeth of a user's upper pallet. The anti-snoring mouth guard includes tongue depressor portion having a proximal end coupled to the mouthpiece and having a body extending rearwardly at a generally downward angle. A brace may extend between rear ends of the mouthpiece portion and define levels by which the tongue depressor may be inserted such that the tongue depressor may be adjusted vertically and front-to-back.
ORAL APPLIANCE
An oral appliance includes an upper arch and a seal. The upper arch may be positioned proximate a maxillary dentition of a user. The upper arch includes a first tab and a second tab positioned on opposite sides of a plane substantially bisecting the upper arch. The seal defines a first receptacle and a second receptacle that may receive the first and second tabs to couple the seal to the upper arch and to inhibit breathing through a mouth of the user.
Oral appliance
A method of treating sleep disorder breathing in a patient, the method comprising in a first step providing a set of oral appliances comprising a first and at least a second oral appliance. Each of the first and at least second oral appliances comprises a generally U shaped appliance body including an inner wall, an outer wall, and a web interconnecting the inner wall and the outer wall. The web has a front section and two arms with trailing ends. The web comprises at least one breathing hole so as to define a total cross sectional area for breathing and the total cross sectional area for breathing of the first oral appliance is larger than the total cross sectional area for breathing of the second oral appliance. In a second step, a patient wears the first oral appliance in a first treatment stage whilst sleeping for a first period of time and in a third step the patient wears the second oral appliance in a second treatment stage whilst sleeping for a second period of time.
Mandibular advancement device
A mandibular advancement device having a first frame and a second frame, the first frame having a first occlusal surface and a first generally U-shaped groove, the second frame having a second occlusal surface and second generally U-shaped groove, the mandibular advancement device having a first rib protruding from the first occlusal surface of the first frame, a first upstanding sidewall protruding from the first occlusal surface of the first frame, a first inner surface of the first upstanding sidewall, the first inner surface generally parallel to, offset from, and facing the first rib, a first set of teeth on the inner surface of the first upstanding wall, the first set of teeth facing the first rib and orthogonal to the first occlusal surface, a first channel of the second occlusal surface of the second frame, the first channel in relative position to interface with the first rib, an opening of the first channel, the opening of the first channel having a width that is narrower than a width of the first rib, a second upstanding sidewall protruding from the second occlusal surface of the second frame, a first outside wall of the second upstanding sidewall, the outside wall in relative position to interface with the first inner surface of the upstanding first sidewall, and a second set of teeth on the outside wall of the second upstanding sidewall, the second set of teeth orthogonal to the second occlusal surface.
MAXILLARY AND MANDIBULAR DEVICES THAT INCREASE THE SMALLEST CONCENTRIC AIRWAY CROSS-SECTIONAL AREA OF A USER FOR IMPROVEMENTS DURING PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES
Methods of lowering heart rate during physical activity for a user in need of an increase in their smallest concentric airway cross-sectional area include providing the person with a mandibular repositioning device having a maxillary tooth covering having a driver flange protruding laterally outward on a right and left side proximate a backmost teeth mold and a mandibular tooth covering having a protrusive flange extending cranially therefrom positioned to have a posterior side engaged with the anterior side of each driver flange. The anterior side of each driver flange has a convex curvature, and the posterior side of each protrusive flange has a concave-to-convex curvature from its base toward its most cranial point and a convex portion of the concave-to convex curvature engages the convex curvature of the driver flange in a rest position, and downward movement of the mandibular piece moves the user's mandible forward as well.
