CLICKABLE WATERBORNE POLYMERS AND CLICK-CROSSLINKED WATERBORNE POLYMERS, CLICKABLE FUNCTIONAL COMPOUNDS, CLICK FUNCTIONALIZED WATERBORNE POLYMERS, AND USES THEREOF
Clickable waterborne polymers, click crosslinking of waterborne polymers, click crosslinked waterborne polymers, clickable functional compounds, and click functionalized waterborne polymers are presented. For example, the waterborne polymers have pendant groups bearing alkyne and/or azide groups and alkyne. For example, the functionalized azide-containing functional compounds such as antimicrobial or infrared-refractive compounds. The click crosslinking of clickable waterborne polymers or polymer mixtures, and the click conjugation of clickable waterborne polymers with clickable functional compounds such as clickable antimicrobial or infrared-refractive compounds, which resulted in functional waterborne polymers with antimicrobial or infrared-refractive functions, are presented. The presented polymers, including clickable waterborne polymers, click-crosslinked waterborne polymers, and functional waterborne polymers with, for example, antimicrobial or infrared-refractive functions, can be used in applications such as coating and adhesive compositions. The aqueous suspensions of waterborne polymers can also be used directly as drug delivery systems, or can be crosslinked into hydrogels or composites for biomedical applications such as drug/cell delivery, tissue engineering, and other medical device.
BIO-ELECTRODE COMPOSITION, BIO-ELECTRODE, AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING A BIO-ELECTRODE
The present invention provides a bio-electrode composition including: a resin containing a main chain having a urethane bond and two side chains each having a silicon-containing group; and an electro-conductive material, wherein the electro-conductive material is a polymer compound having one or more repeating units selected from fluorosulfonic acid salts shown by the following formulae (1)-1 and (1)-2, sulfonimide salts shown by the following formula (1)-3, and sulfonamide salts shown by the following formula (1)-4. This can form a living body contact layer for a bio-electrode that is excellent in electric conductivity and biocompatibility, light in weight, manufacturable at low cost, and free from large lowering of the electric conductivity even when it is wetted with water or dried. The present invention also provides a bio-electrode in which the living body contact layer is formed from the bio-electrode composition, and a method for manufacturing the bio-electrode.
CLICKABLE ANTIMICROBIAL MOLECULES AND POLYMERS
In one aspect, the present disclosure relates to click-functional antimicrobial molecules (including small molecules or, in some cases, macromolecules) and the construction of antimicrobial polymers such as polyurethanes, polyesters, and polyacrylates, including through the use of such molecules. In some cases, the antimicrobial click-functional molecules are based on 1,2-benzisothiazolin-3-one (BIT), trimethylguanidine or tetramethylguanidine (TMG), polyhexamethylene guanidine (PHMG), fluorine-containing molecules, or a combination thereof. For example, 1,2-benzisothiazolin-3-one (BIT) functionalized with an alkyne (BIT-Al), trimethylguanidine or tetramethylguanidine (TMG) functioned with an alkyne (TMG-Al) or dual alkynes (TMG-dAl), and/or polyhexamethylene guanidine (PHMG) functionalized with an alkyne (PHMG-Al) are described herein. Clickable antimicrobial polymers can be used to form coatings or films.

Water-repellent composition
A water-repellent composition containing (1) a polymer having 2-100 wt %, with respect to the polymer, of a repeating unit derived from an amide group-containing monomer (a) represented by the following formula ##STR00001##
[wherein R.sup.1 is an organic moiety having an ethylenically unsaturated polymerizable group, R.sup.2 is a C.sub.7-30 hydrocarbon group, and R.sup.3 is a C.sub.1-5 hydrocarbon group], (2) a co-agent containing at least one co-agent compound selected from the group consisting of a blocked isocyanate compound, a melamine resin, a silicone polymer, a wax, an acetylene-based emulsifier, and a polyoxyalkylene group-containing emulsifier, and (3) a liquid media. Preferably, the water-repellent composition includes no fluoroalkyl group-containing monomer, and preferably no fluorine-containing monomer. Also disclosed is a method for producing the water-repellent composition, a method for treating a substrate with the water-repellent composition, and a method for producing a treated textile product which includes treating a textile product with the water-repellent composition.
