Cervical stabilization device
A system and method for stabilizing an incontinent cervix during pregnancy are described. A system may include a nesting portion designed to surround the cervix without applying pressure to the cervix, while supporting the uterus in opposition to the weight of the developing fetus to prevent untimely effacement and dilatation of the cervix; thereby reducing the risk of premature birth and its consequence.
METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR VAGINAL THERAPEUTIC DEVICE FITTING
A variety of medical and non-medical devices are exploited by users to address a wide range of conditions. However, in the vast majority of instances, the device has a limited number of options with respect to its fit for the user and its performance. Further, the determination of target performance and fit are established on a qualitative basis rather than a quantitative basis. In many instances, these combinations lead to low user acceptance of the device due to the resulting performance and fit issues. Accordingly, it would enhance performance and user acceptance if a quantitative determination provided a recommended type where options exist, and this determination provided the basis of a custom designed device to the user's specific anatomical and/or performance requirements.

Device and method to optimize the form and function of a pessary
A device for modeling a pessary is disclosed. A matrix of individually expandable balloons are mounted around a shaft, which holds fill lines for each balloon. The balloons are expandable with fluid to a desired volume and/or pressure, according to comfort and fit determined by real-time patient feedback. Because the volumes and the positions of the balloons are known, a calculation of the dimensions of the vaginal canal can be made, so that the matrix of expandable balloons models the vaginal canal.

Pessary device and methods for preventing premature births
A pessary for the prevention of preterm birth, and in particular two pathological conditions of pregnancy known as isthmico-cervical incontinence and cervical shortening, both of which are associated with increased risks for pregnancy loss and/or premature deliveries of babies. The pessary includes a sleeve supported within a ring by an annular member. The sleeve is intended to contact the cervix and maximize the length of the cervix while the annular member and ring contact the vagina. The pessary may be fabricated from a pliable medical-grade silicon, and the pessary may include one or more sensors to measure various patient parameters indicative of a premature cervical contraction.

Intrauterine device, and a method of reducing the rate of diffusion of active ingredients in said intrauterine device
An intrauterine device having at least one first pharmaceutically active ingredient and at least one first layer made of at least a first polymeric material, wherein between about 10 and about 60 v/v % of at least one particulate material is dispersed and/or incorporated in the first polymeric material. The presence of the particulate material will reduce the porosity of the polymer or otherwise obstruct the diffusion of the pharmaceutically active ingredient being released, thereby slowing its rate of release. In this way, it is possible to regulate the release rate and/or initial burst of the device, simply by adjusting the amount of particles/particulate material in the first layer, instead of having to adapt the size of the device to the desired release pattern, which requires expensive changes in production equipment and manufacturing processes.

DELAYING PRE-TERM BIRTH
A device for retarding birth including an upper ring for surrounding a cervix, an anchoring component for anchoring the device, and an elastic component for attaching the upper ring to the anchoring component, wherein the elastic component pushes the upper ring and the anchoring component apart. A device for retarding birth including a sleeve for surrounding a cervix along a greater portion of a length of the cervix, a support strip on the sleeve directed along an axis of the sleeve, and a ring at least partially around the sleeve, in which when a top of the sleeve is pushed to expand radially, the support strip pivots on the ring, such that an end of the support strip near the top of the sleeve moves radially outward, and an end of the support strip near the bottom of the sleeve moves radially inward. Related apparatus and methods are also described.
