OMNIPHOBIC POLYURETHANE COMPOSITIONS, RELATED ARTICLES, AND RELATED METHODS
The disclosure relates to a thermoset omniphobic composition, which includes a thermoset polymer with first, second, and third backbone segments, first urethane groups linking the first and third backbone segments, and second urethane groups linking the first and second backbone segments. The first, second, and third backbone segments generally correspond to urethane reaction products of polyisocyanate(s), hydroxy-functional hydrophobic polymer(s), and polyol(s), respectively. The thermoset omniphobic composition has favorable omniphobic properties, for example as characterized by water and/or oil contact and/or sliding angles. The thermoset omniphobic composition can be used as a coating on any of a variety of substrates to provide omniphobic properties to a surface of the substrate. Such omniphobic coatings can be scratch-resistant, ink/paint resistant, dirt-repellent, and optically clear. The thermoset omniphobic composition can be applied by different coating methods including cast, spin, roll, spray and dip coating methods.

A polyisocyanate composition contains a modified product of xylylene diisocyanate and a modified product of pentamethylene diisocyanate, and/or a modified product of the xylylene diisocyanate and the pentamethylene diisocyanate. The ratio of the pentamethylene diisocyanate with respect to the total amount of the xylylene diisocyanate and the pentamethylene diisocyanate is 30 mol % or more and 80 mol % or less.

The present invention relates to a two-component putty comprising (1) a base component and (2) a curing component, wherein the base component comprises: a polycarbonate diol having a hydroxyl number in the range of from 50 to 500 mg KOH/g; a further resin component having a hydroxyl number of at least 300 mg KOH/g; and an inorganic filler, wherein the curing component comprises a polyisocyanate, and wherein the amount of the inorganic filler is in the range of from 35 wt % to 60 wt %, based on the total weight of the putty, the putty contains less than 5 wt % of organic solvent, and the viscosity of the putty is in the range of from 30,000 mPa.Math.s to 250,000 mPa.Math.s. The present invention also relates to a method for coating a substrate by applying such putty and allowing the applied putty to cure. The invention further relates to a coated substrate obtainable by such method and the use of such two-component putty for improving erosion resistance of a substrate.
Polyisocyanate cured product, and method for producing polyisocyanate cured product
The polyisocyanate cured product according to the present invention has an isocyanurate structure, which comprises at least one diisocyanate selected from the group consisting of an aliphatic diisocyanate and an alicyclic diisocyanate, as a unit structure, the polyisocyanate cured product having an allophanate group, and the molar ratio of the isocyanurate group to the allophanate group (isocyanurate group/allophanate group) is 99/1 to 20/80.

The invention relates to a polyurea compound, which can be produced by reacting a polyisocyanate with a dialkoxy amino silane according to general formula R.sup.1(R.sup.1O).sub.2Si(CH.sub.2).sub.mNHR.sup.2 and optionally also with a trialkoxy amino silane according to general formula (R.sup.1O).sub.3Si(CH.sub.2).sub.nNHR.sup.2 wherein the groups R.sup.1 are selected independently from one another from C.sub.1-C.sub.20-alkyl or C.sub.6-C.sub.20-aryl, n and m are each whole numbers between 1 and 4, the groups R.sup.2 are selected independently from one another from H, C.sub.1-C.sub.2O-alkyl, C3-C12-cycloalkyl, and CHR.sup.3CH.sub.2COOR.sup.4, the groups R.sup.3 are selected independently from one another from H, C.sub.1-C.sub.20-alkyl and COOR.sup.4, and the groups R.sup.4 represent C.sub.1-C.sub.20-alkyl independently from one another. The invention also relates to the use of the compound as a binder for producing coatings.
COMPOSITIONS INCLUDING ALPHA-ALUMINA PARTICLES AND METHODS OF THEIR USE
A curable composition comprises: a) 91 to 98.2 weight percent of: (i) at least one polymerizable compound containing at least one carbamylene group; or (ii) at least one polyurethane precursor system; and b) 0.2 to 9 weight percent of alpha alumina particles having a particle size distribution with a Dv50 of from 0.1 to 1 micron, wherein the weight percentages of a) and b) are based upon the total amount of a) and b). Cured compositions and their use in thermoforming are also disclosed.
BLOCKED POLYISOCYANATE COMPOSITION, ONE-COMPONENT COATING COMPOSITION, COATING FILM, AND COATED ARTICLE
The present invention provides a blocked polyisocyanate composition comprising a blocked polyisocyanate formed through blocking at least a part of isocyanate groups possessed by a polyisocyanate derived from one or two or more diisocyanates selected from the group consisting of an aliphatic diisocyanate and an alicyclic diisocyanate with an active methylene-based compound comprising a malonic acid diester, wherein a specific molar ratio calculated from contents (mol %) of isocyanurate groups, iminooxadiazinedione groups, uretdione groups, and allophanate groups is 0.05 or more and 0.60 or less.
